Prologue: Before Everything Happened pt.2

"ng? where am I?" Shinobu woke up in a confusion on a grassy ground surrounded by trees.

"Forest? I was waiting for the train to campus..." She looked around before standing up and started to walk.

"phew" Shinobu noticed that she is sweating.

"why this place is hot? this winter clothes make it worse" The black haired girl took off the scarf around her neck.

"..." Shinobu looked around again "Even though this is a forest, it somehow feels different from the Japanese forest...".

After going through the annoying branches and bushes, Shinobu finally walking out of the forest where she woke up "Where is this? Japan doesn't have grasslands this huge" She's amazed by the sight of vast grasslands as far as the eye could see.

"Am I dreaming?" Shinobu wondered "If I meet people maybe they can explain what is tihis place" Having decided that, She started walking along the grassland.

After a while, She got tired "huff... huff... I knew it, walking around in a hot place like this in my winter clothes like this is not good at all".

"ah..." Shinobu finally saw a man loading wooden boxes into a conestoga wagon in front of her. "Finally a person!" With excitement Shinobu started running to the wagon "oooi!".

"ng?" A brown-haired man who was lifting the wooden box into the caravan saw Shinobu approaching him.

"Excuse me, do you know where we are now?" Asked Shinobu while taking a breath after running.

"Where are we? We're in the middle of Dominicus Empire." The man replied, "Oltmark!" Another man shouted.

"Wh-what's up boss!?" The brown-haired man replied as he faced a blonde-haired man.

"Who is she?" The blond man looked at Shinobu "Dunno, boss. She just came out of nowhere and asked where we were" the brown-haired man replied.

"She's... a chick from Solis huh" The blond man looked at Shinobu "You're right boss. Only that country has black haired humans."

"I have an idea" the blond man whispered something into the brown-haired man's ear before switching places with him and approaching Shinobu "ah, ojou-san, are you lost?" Asked the blond man to Shinobu.

"It seems so. I remember I was at a subway station in Japan, but I don't know why I'm here" Shinobu replied.

"If you want, we can take you to the nearest town" offered the blond man.

"Uh, may I?".

"Of course. It's dangerous for a young girl like you to wander around alone. You could be kidnapped and sold to a slave trader" The blond man said "Come on ojou-san" The blond man extended his right hand.

"Thank you. That's very kind of you" Shinobu accepted the man's offer and started to board the wagon.

"Hiya!" The brown-haired man began to spur the horses pulling the wagon into motion.

"Did you say slave trader? Is there such a thing?" Shinobu recalled the blonde man's words.

"Of course they exist, ojou-san".

"haah, it's so hot in here" Shinobu began to sigh at the sweat pouring down her forehead and tried to fanning her sweaty neck.

"Ah, I happen to have some water" the blond man handed Shinobu a waterbag "Would you like some?".

"Ah, thank you!" Shinobu accepted the water bag and started drinking the contents "You're all so kind!" Shinobu praised.

"ah, not really, ojou-san" The blonde-haired man was modest while grinning when she drinks from the water bag he gave her.

After drinking the water, Shinobu returned her attention to the road flanked by vast grasslands "Although it's hot, the scenery here is beautiful. There are no cars or buildings."

"yaaawn!" Suddenly, Shinobu started yawning "eh, why am I sleepy?".

"Ah, it's okay if you want to sleep ojou-san, the trip to the nearest town is still long" said the blond man.

"r-really?" Shinobu's eyes became very heavy. In the end she collapsed and lose consciousness.

"Could you please let me go, sir? There seems to be a misunderstanding here" Shinobu pleaded with the burly man "I'm not a criminal. I just want to get to the nearest town so I can go back to Japan" Shinobu explained.

But after hearing Shinobu's explanation, the man could only laugh loudly "Hahahaha! what a joke!".

The man started hitting the bars of the cell while bringing his face closer to Shinobu "Listen stupid bitch, you are now a slave! some traveling merchant just sold you to us not a while ago! Now you will be auctioned off to the highest bidder".

"Slave!? But isn't that illegal in Japan?" Shinobu couldn't believe what he said.

The burly man pulled Shinobu's hair "Look, I don't know what Japan is. The important thing is, a black haired Solis bitch like you will worth a lot at the auction".

"...!" Shinobu is shocked and could only sit in silence.

"It's about time. Bring the Solis girl here" ordered a thin man with purple hair.

Hearing that order, the burly green haired man roughly connected a chain to the iron collar o. Shinobu's neck. He rudely pulled her out of the cell and brought the black haired girl into a wooden stage.

"This is the most valuable item we have today! A girl from Solis Country with black hair!" The auctioneer introduced Shinobu who was pulled forcefully by a burly man with green hair.

"ngh!" Shinobu tried to fight back, but the chain connected the collar around her neck and the handcuffs shackling her hand made it difficult for her to move freely.

The voices of several men and women chimed in to bid Shinobu a high price. But the commotion was stopped by the voice of a fat man wearing fancy clothes "I bid her for 5,900,000 Sal!"

Instantly the arguing stopped. The auction room also became quiet.

"shit that was too high!"

"Anyone want to bid higher?" Asked the auctioneer "going 1, going 2, going 3, going 4, going 5... then this Solis girl is sold to Theodore Ascott-sama for 5,900,000 Sal!" The auctioneer struck the wooden hammer he was carrying as a sign of confirmation.
