Nickolas....

My name is Nickolas Wolfie, I'm 29 years old, and I'm the Supreme Alpha of the Wolves. I live in the Black Moon Pack with my sister, Zara. I have another brother, Dante, who's also my Beta, but he found his mate, Zoe, and lives with her. Our parents died in an accident 4 years ago, and I've been on the throne ever since.

I don't have a mate. I've searched for my Luna in every pack, and I simply can't find her. I'm beginning to suspect that she doesn't exist... The Supreme Council is pressuring me to choose a she-wolf to mate with because no one can ascend to the throne without a Luna. It's the rule, but given the circumstances of the time, they made an exception for me, seeing as I didn't have another successor. But they laid down the law, and if I don't find my mate or choose someone on my own by the time I turn 30, I'll have to mate with whomever they choose. If I object, I lose the throne...

I rule the 5 packs (North, South, East, West, and Black Moon) with an iron fist, and I'm known for being cruel. Since I took over, we've had no more pack attacks thanks to a treaty I managed to secure with Vladimir, the King of the Vampires. Of course, we still have minor issues with the rogues, but we can say that we're living in peace, so having the reputation of being cruel and feared by all isn't so bad...

But I confess that something is worrying me. About a year ago, my little sister, Zara, got it into her head that she wanted to go to a human college. At first, my brother and I said no, but as time went by and after a lot of insistence, we ended up giving in. Zara is an amazing girl who used to light up the house, but since our parents' death, she's withdrawn. She has no friends and spends all her time locked in her room. That was one of the reasons that led us to give her permission, but I'm afraid for her being alone with a bunch of humans. And then there are the rogues who roam freely in the human world. Of course, we've taken precautions, but just to be safe, Dante, my other Beta and best friend, Vinicius, and I will take turns taking her to and from college.

Since today is her first day, I insisted on being the one to pick her up, and here I am, at the college gate, waiting for our little princess to come out. I spot Zara coming from afar, but what catches my attention is the gorgeous brunette who's at her side. My friends, I'm easily lost in that body. They're talking and she smiles–and what a smile. I try to disguise my reaction so as not to show that I'm devouring her with my eyes.

Zara sees me; they say goodbye, and she walks in my direction and breaks into a smile I've missed so much. When she gets close, I give her a tight hug, but I stop when I smell a strange scent on her. It's very faint, imperceptible to other wolves, but since I'm Supreme, I can smell it. And it's mixed with lotus flower. I'm intrigued. We wolves don't smell scents on humans. Zara is so excited that I let it go. We get in the car, and she starts telling me all the news, and of course, I need to know more about this brunette.

Nickolas: "I see you made some friends."

Zara: "Yes, they're super cool."

Nickolas: "What are their names?"

Zara: "Brad and Melinda."

Nickolas: "Melinda. I like it."

Zara: "Cut it out, Nick. You know we can't have relationships with humans."

Nickolas: "Teaching Grandma to suck eggs, Zara? I know I can't, but I'm not blind either, lol."

We talked the whole way home. I don't even know when was the last time I saw my sister so happy, and I feel it was worth it to let her go to college...
