He was in Tennessee on business, making arrangements to open a new restaurant. It was a good opportunity for him, but he was feeling like he had a lot on his plate and that he was juggling a lot of things at once.
He was on his way to ensure he had the right permits with the local authorities and his legal counsel. Opening this resturant was a lengthy process and there was so much paperwork.
It took nearly half of the day and then he returned to the newly constructed resturant to have a meeting with the designer on the Front-Of-House layout. She showed him what she came up with, the seating capacity, ambiance and decor.
Everything was as he wanted and he was impressed by her vision. They stood discussing some of the finer details and was about to mention something to her when he suddenly looked up through the window and went pale.
The designer noticed the change in his expression and looked to where his attention was taken, but the person had already passed. When she looked back to him he was rushing for the door.
He ran up to her and grabbed her arm and she jumped in fear, taking a swing with her bag but missed. He towered over her and she looked at him with her heart pounding in her chest, eyes wide, darting about.
Noah was surprised when she took a swing at him but he didn't let go of her arm. "Samantha." He said anxiously looking at her with a mixture of surprise and anger. "It's me Noah."
She tried to tug her arm away looking at him, scared and confused. "W-what, who's Noah?"
His eyes narrowed moved over the length of her. Taking note of the change of colour of her hair. The absense of her belly and her now slender frame. "The babies. Where's my child Samantha?"
She quickly looked away and then back. "Your child?."
"I want to see him. How could you keep our child from me for three years!" His voiced raised and his eyes grew hunted, his jaw tight with a tic going.
Samantha's face was pale and she stared at him with no expression as if he was a stranger to her. " Uhm I think you're mistaking me for someone else. Yes my name is Samantha, Samantha Bradshaw-Davis.
He rocked back confused. "Davis?"
"Yes Davis, that's my married name."
He felt all the blood drain from his face. For a second he even felt a whoozy feeling come over him like he was about to pass out." He barely spoke above a whisper. "What?!" His eyes searched her left hand and sure enough there was a ring. Not his but one that was equally beautiful as his.
"You're married?"
She wiggled the ringed finger in his face, seeing his pallor. "Sure am, and my husband is not going to be pleased about this!"
"You're kidding me right, this is some joke? Samantha this is not funny!" He grabbed her now by the shoulders and shook her. " I searched two years for you and the babies for two years! Then to hear this bullshit!"
She screeched trying to fight him off. "Get away from me! Help!"
"Hey what are you doing to the lady?" A guy ran to her aid and pushed Noah forcibly away. "Get away from her."
Samantha was crying now. "Do you know this guy?" The guy who came to her help asked.
He turned back to Noah in a rage. "You need to back off and leave her alone!" He pointed up in Noah's face. "Come let me help you to your car." The guy made sure to keep himself between Samantha and Noah and guided her to her car, making sure she had driven off before he glare at Noah and walked away.
His eyes followed the car as it drove away, taking note of the license plate number. He felt still in a daze, overwhelmed by the whole situation, unable to comprehend the fact that she was married, pretending to not know him and didn't tell him how the twins were.
When he got back inside, the designer looked at him concerned and asked if he was okay. He nodded and excused himself, informing her that they'd continue another day. He just felt like he needed some time to compose himself.
He got onto the PI, and gave Samantha's car number, wanting to get as much information about her and the life she now lived. Wasn't too long after that the PI faxed him all the pertinent information.
He leaned back in his chair reading. She was married to a Dr Davis but her maiden name was Bradshaw. Where did she get the Bradshaw from? He frowned. His eyes widened with the next set of information. They had two kids, twins!! Saint Davis and Shevon Davis. His heart gave a squeeze in his chest and his head was spinning with the information. He hadn't even seen the twins, yet they were named, in a family and being cared for by a man pretending to be their dad. His head started to hurt with the anger that was building up inside him. How could she do something like that, just dissappear, with not a word and deprive him of his rights as a parent and leave him with no closure. His hands clenched into fist on the desk as he tried to control the raising emotions. He had to remain calm and have a level head to process all this so he didn’t miss anything or act rashly. He read on, two years married and working as a Medical Transcriptionist.
When he was finished reading he closed the file and just rocked back in the chair staring off.
Samantha was still shaking when she got home. The guy had frighten her. He had this notion that she was someone he knew. What was wrong him.
She had picked up the kids from the daycare and Samantha got out and went around the car to take them out. With each on either side they wobbled into the house with her.
She gave them a bottle and left them in front of the television in their playpen to make dinner for when her husband Shaun came home.
He was home around 8pm and by that time the kids were sleeping. "How was work?" She kissed him on the lips and escaped when he tried to pull her into his arms and deepen it. I didn’t get time to have a bath, she smiled.
"So. I'm dirty as well." He chased her around the counter and she laughed dashing away from him but he caught her and they did some stinky kisses. They had been married two years and they had a strong bond that both of them appreciated.
