Mary woke up with a renewed sense of purpose. She had made remarkable progress in understanding her abilities, but she knew there was much more to learn. Today was going to be different. Today, Alex was going to push her limits.
As she walked into the park, she saw Alex waiting for her, his expression serious. “Good morning, Mary. Ready for some high-intensity training?” he asked.
Mary nodded, determined. “Yes, I’m ready.”
“Great. Today, we’ll focus on physical training and honing your predictive abilities in real-time combat scenarios,” Alex explained.
They began with a warm-up, running laps around the park and doing various exercises to build stamina. Alex then led her to an open area where he had set up various training equipment. “In a fight, you need to anticipate your opponent’s moves before they make them,” Alex said. “Focus on your surroundings, and try to predict what I’m going to do next.”
Alex started attacking her with quick, precise movements. Mary concentrated hard, using her visions to foresee his actions. At first, she struggled, but gradually she began to anticipate his moves more accurately.
“Good, Mary. You’re getting better,” Alex encouraged. “Remember, it’s not just about seeing the future, but reacting to it in time.”
Mary’s admiration for Alex grew with each passing moment. His dedication and skill were impressive, and she found herself developing feelings for him. Despite the intensity of the training, she enjoyed spending this time with him.
After hours of rigorous training, they decided to call it a day. “You’ve done great, Mary. Let’s head back,” Alex said, patting her on the shoulder.
As they walked back towards the park entrance, Alex noticed something unusual. “Stay close,” he whispered. “I think we’re being followed.”
Mary’s heart raced. She glanced around and saw several men in dark clothing trailing them. “The Sentinels?” she whispered.
Alex nodded. “We need to lose them. Follow me.”
They quickly made their way into a crowded market area, hoping to blend in with the crowd. But the Sentinels were persistent, weaving through the people and closing in on them.
“We need to run,” Alex said urgently. They sprinted through the market, dodging stalls and people. But no matter how fast they ran, the Sentinels were right behind them.
They turned into an alley, only to find themselves trapped. The Sentinels surrounded them, cutting off any escape.
“Mary, you need to go. I’ll hold them off,” Alex said, drawing himself up to fight.
“No, I’m not leaving you,” Mary replied, determination in her eyes. They stood back-to-back, ready to fight.
The Sentinels attacked, and Mary and Alex fought bravely. Despite their best efforts, they were outnumbered and struggling to keep up. Just when it seemed like they were about to be overpowered, a new figure appeared, taking down several Sentinels with swift, powerful moves.
“James?” Mary exclaimed, recognizing her childhood friend.
James fought with incredible skill, helping to even the odds. With his help, they managed to fend off the Sentinels and escape the alley. They ran through several streets until they found a quiet place to catch their breath.
Alex looked at James warily. “Who are you?”
Mary stepped in. “This is James, my childhood friend. He went abroad for studies, and we lost touch. James, this is Alex.”
Alex felt a twinge of jealousy but hid it well. “Thanks for the help.”
James nodded. “We’re not safe here. I have a place nearby where we can talk.”
They followed James to a safe house. Once inside, they took a moment to relax. “So, what’s going on, Mary?” James asked. “Who were those guys?”
Mary explained everything, from her abilities to the Sentinels and their mission to control people like her. James listened intently, his expression serious.
“I had no idea you were involved in something so dangerous,” James said. “But I’m here now, and I’ll help however I can.”
Mary smiled, relieved to have another ally. “Thank you, James. We need all the help we can get.”
Alex, still feeling a bit jealous, couldn’t help but admire James’s skills and determination. “We appreciate your help. But we need to be careful. The Sentinels are relentless.”
James nodded. “I understand. We need a plan.”
They spent the next few hours discussing strategies and sharing information. Mary was glad to have James back in her life, but she couldn’t ignore the subtle tension between him and Alex.
As the night wore on, they decided to rest and gather their strength. Mary lay in bed, thinking about the events of the day. She was grateful for Alex’s guidance and James’s unexpected arrival. With both of them by her side, she felt more confident in facing the challenges ahead.
The next morning, they woke up early, ready to continue their fight against the Sentinels. Mary knew that the road ahead was long and dangerous, but with Alex and James’s support, she felt ready to take on anything.
The battle was far from over, but Mary was determined to master her abilities and protect those she cared about. With her friends by her side, she knew they could overcome any obstacle and find a way to stop the Sentinels once and for all.
