Zane changed the topic, and they talked about things in general. As they talked, he noticed that she was easy to get along with, which he had picked up that night. They had a lot in common, and she seemed like a good listener. He couldn't help but notice how her eyes sparkled when she laughed.
He realised that she knew two of his friends and she also knew his sister. He hoped his sister wasn't switching sides. "Alex, I know you're not into guys and all that by what you said, but I'd like to stay friend with you."
Her eyes searched his, surprised by the sudden request. Alex took a deep breath, trying to figure out what to say. "Yeah, I'd like that, although we had a complicated first meeting. I guess we could put it behind us and move on."
"Lend me your phone so I can call mine and get your number."
He punched in his number and sent a WhatsApp message, then hands her back with a smile.
She smiled back, watching his message, then back at him. "I better be going. I'm expecting a guy who's coming to pick up a car in the next thirty minutes. I have to go home and bathe and then get to the garage."
"Want a drop home?"
Alex shakes her head. "No, it's not that far away. I'll be okay."
He nods, "Alright, I'll see you around then."
She waves at Zane as she starts to walk away. "Bye."
When she got home, she took a shower, her thoughts still on Zane. She liked him. He was cool to hang with. He had a great sense of humor. Alex got out of the shower, dried off, and put on some casual clothes; short cargo pants and a white jersey. A very unfeminine look, she thought as she stared at herself in the mirror. Not a curve showing, and with her short undercut, she looked totally tomboyish. The only thing that identified her as female was her face. She had a delicate oval face, with neat eyebrows and a soft pouty mouth. Alex reached up and touched them, remembering the way he had kissed her, almost devouring her mouth that night. Sparks had flown and she had lost all coherent thoughts. It was an intense moment. Alex blushed at the memory, her cheeks turning slightly red.
She looked at her reflection a bit longer, then shrugged and went downstairs, deciding to call her girlfriend, hoping she'd pick up. She had to stop thinking about him, and maybe talking to Jade would chase him out of her head. Her phone rang a few times before she answered. "Hey, what's up?" Jade said, a bit sleepily.
"Hey babes, nothing much. Was thinking about you. Were you sleeping, did I wake you?"
Jade laughs "Yeah, you did, but it was a good thing because I had to get up anyway. Have work in the next thirty minutes."
"Me too. Just got in from playing basketball with the guys and just came home to bathe and grab something to eat and then head to the shop."
"Sounds like you missed me." Jade said in a flirty way.
"Oh I definitely did. Can't wait to get my hands on you."
She laughs "I can't wait either. You know what I'm thinking right now?"
Alex chuckled and said, "What?"
"Well, I was thinking you could come over later tonight after work, and......" Alex heard the way her voice trailed away breathlessly.
Alex growled. "And.......... what were you thinking about doing?"
"When you get here, you'll find out. Make sure and get here."
"Oh I'll definitely be there." Alex said in a husky voice.
"I'll be waiting. Kisses bye."
Alex smiled staring at the phone smiling, her mind going wild with thoughts about tonight. She needed that distraction. Looking over at the clock, she grabbed something quickly to eat, grabbed her keys and headed for the door.
