Chapter 4

I pull the computer onto my lap and click the button excitedly, hoping that I'd finally find someone to keep me company. When I open the notification I'm brought to a little chat room with me and the one who replied. The account has no picture and only the name 'Noah Andele'.

The reply says 'I saw your listing for a roommate in Blueville and was wondering if the offer was still open?'. I felt excitement well in my chest and quickly replied. 'Oh, yes, the room is still up for rent and is open as long as you fit in the rules I stated on the site.' I wait awhile for what I assume he was him checking the rules before he finally replied. 'Yes, just no animals. To pay on time, be respectful, and pay $187 every month?' I responded back 'Yes, and of course to respect privacy and pay for any damages.' the three dots continue to fall and re appear a few times before finally he replied with 'I was hoping you'll have me, I'm traveling there for the First time in a while and was hoping for a place to stay for a few months.' I felt myself feel slightly relieved that they didn't sound like a disrespectful person and hopefully would be a good fit. 'When do you want to come over to see the room?' I wait awhile before he replies. 'Tomorrow morning should be when I get there.' I thought for a moment, surprised but excited it was so soon since it had already been four days alone and cleaning up the place practically non stop. 'Ok, see you then.'

I turn off my computer and shut it feeling relieved and also nervous that tomorrow a random stranger would be over and potentially my new roommate for a decent amount of time. I lay on my back and stare at the popcorn ceiling. The thought of potentially having a new person to finally hopefully get along with, maybe have someone in this town that I don't feel like an outsider with.

I turn onto my side and cover myself in a thick blanket, letting the warm weight comfort me like a kid in a mother's embrace, the outside air cold from having to leave open the windows all the time. I had made sure to shut and lock everything before even going up the stairs though, at this point it is a subconscious habit, a routine. I close my eyes and for one time, I didn't have that nightmare. It was a well needed full night rest.

In the morning I wake up and decided to check the site again to update the status and close the offer temporarily since I had an offer already. I yawn and sit up in bed before reaching over and grabbing my computer, setting it on my lap before I remembered I haven't changed in a while, let alone taken a shower...I've been too busy to realize. After debating wether I should shower or eat breakfast, I decided to check my notifications. I reopen the site and see a new notification from 'Noah Andele' and quickly click it, part of me scared it's a cancellation request. When I open it I'm met with a massage that says 'I'll be over today in about 26 minutes. Don't worry if I'm a little delayed though, I'm usually not one to be exactly on time.' I reply a little to quickly. 'That's fine! I'll see you then.' I felt I had a lot of rushing to do since I looked like I have been rolling around with the dust bunnies all night. Plus there was no way I wasn't eating my daily toaster stroodles for breakfast.
