Cold War between the Romano Couple

Lorenzo didn't say anything to her. He just walked over to the board, took it and throwed it in anger. The board's edges were made up of glasses and being thrown like that, glasses splattered all over the room. Sophia started to get scared. He went to the other side and shoved all the things kept on the table on the floor. Sophia went over to stop him.

"Lorenzo, I'm sorry.." while walking over to him, she stepped on a sharp shrad of glass and screamed in pain as she looked down and the floor along with glasses were being coloured by her blood. However, Lorenzo continued to break things.

"Lorenzo, Stop! It's hurting!" She yelled. He finally stopped.

"Why are you acting so psychotic all of a sudden! It was just a goddamn schedule board! You can always make anoth-" Sophia stopped talking as Lorenzo looked at her with red eyes. He was silent for a while and then straightened his back, turned around to leave. Before going out, he said with a cold voice,

"You won't understand what it means to me" and left. Sophia just stood there, all dumbfounded as his figure slammed the door and left. She tried to walk and closed her eyes in pain and again looked down to see her injured legs. She wondered, was that board more important than her?

"It's paining." She muttered as tears welled up in her eyes.

"And he didn't even look back at me."

Did he hurt me intentionally? Thinking this, she looked back at the board as if she was checking for what was so important in but everything was ruined. Her eyes stopped at one piece which was near her, broken. She took it in her hands and saw what was written in it.

"Lorenzo's schedule board by Silvia." She read.

Who is this? Is it a brand name or what? Thoughts flooded her mind but before she could think more, she realised her leg was hurting a lot and it was late. She just walked up to the balcony as it was near her and somehow sat on the rocking chair.

Meanwhile,

Lorenzo was inside his office and massaged his temples.

"Did I do extra?" He wondered but shook his head and took out a whole desk where everything was written by Silvia.

"I need to destroy everything. I can't keep these in here." He said with a tense voice.

"Better that she died!" Saying this he took out everything and then lit them on fire but there was a photo which he had kept for himself. He threw that on the fire too.

"She deserves it!"

It was now dawn and Sophia fell asleep on the balcony. Shards of glasses were still on her legs and they were still bleeding. Seeing this scene, Lorenzo's heart ached. He didn't waste another minute and walked over to her, taking her wounded legs onto his lap.

"I'm sorry. I'm really really sorry Sophia. If possible, please forgive me." He whispered as tears escaped his eyes but Sophia was in deep sleep to hear his sincere apology. He, then carried her and walked over to her bed as Sophia hugged his neck.

After placing her on the bed, slowly he started to treat her injured legs. His heart crushed in pain more knowing it was him who caused her this way. If only he were a little bit more careful, if only he were a bit more controlling towards his emotions.

Regret filled his head. Since childhood, it was his habit to break things when he is angry. Since his father died earlier and his mother was mostly busy with the Romano Empire, there was none to discipline him and break this bad habit of his, so he just grew up like that, thinking it was fine to break things when you're angry.

After bandaging her leg, he got up and placed a soft kiss on her forehead as he stroked her head.

"You deserve someone better than me."

"And I promise to become that better version for you." He whispered in her ears and left.

The next morning,

Opening her eyes, the first thing Sophia did was look at her surroundings. She rubbed her eyes and that's when she snapped back to the reality. She slept on the balcony last night. How come she is on the bed? At the same time, her eyes fell on her bandaged leg.

"Did he treat my wound?" She moved her legs and furrowed her brows.

He intentionally hurt me last night, wrecked havoc over a schedule board and then thought if he bandages my wound then I would forgive him? If he does, then none is more foolish then him. He hurt me. His fiance. The one whom he is going to spend the rest of his life. If he already started to show his red flags before marriage, what will happen after marriage? Sophia thought as she slowly got out of the bed.

"I am not obliged to marry a red flag like him and ruin my life." Sophia slowly walked over to the bathroom to freshen up. After freshening up, Sophia went downstairs to see, Lorenzo was sitting on the dining table.

"Look at how nonchalant he is. As if nothing happened last night. You want to forget about last night? Fine. I'll do the same."

Sophia scoffed as she came down. Without saying anything, she quietly sat down on the chair. Lorenzo spared a brief glance at her but again focused on his breakfast. Sophia knew, Lorenzo looked at her. Her lips curled up into a smirk, barely visible as she started having the breakfast. Lorenzo again took another glance at her but Sophia was having her breakfast peacefully and quietly unlike other days when she would annoy him to death. Sophia felt his gaze on her and looked up but Lorenzo looked away. And like this, with complete silence, both of them finished her breakfast.

After breakfast, as usual, Lorenzo came to the living room and picked up the newspaper to read. Sophia also came but without saying anything, she took a magazine and sat on the other end of the sofa.

Time passed but nobody talked. Today is a holiday, so Lorenzo will work from home. While sitting with Lorenzo, she kept stealing glances at him only to see he wasn't reacting at all.

Is he kidding me? I talk a lot but I've turned quiet all of a sudden so that must mean something is wrong with me, right? I have seen in many movies where the wife becomes quiet and then husband becomes sweet to convince her. But at the same time, movies are movies and reality is reality. They are always opposite.

Sophia was lost in thinking when she remembered that their marriage is near. Only 2 weeks are left and at the same time, her phone vibrated as she looked at the caller ID. It was her dad.

"Hello Dad" Sophia greeted in a low voice.

"I can't believe, there's only 2 weeks left for my love's wedding." Sophia's dad said in an excited tone from the other side. But, instead of replying energetically, Sophia just replied with a hmm. Sophia's dad guessed something was wrong as he seriously asked,

"Sweetie, are you okay?" Hearing those words, Sophia's mind screamed. Even her dad could sense something was off but why couldn't Lorenzo sense it? Is he dumb?

"Sophia, my love, what happened? Is anything wrong?" Sophia's dad was growing impatient.

"No, Dad. Someone just hurt me.." Hearing those lines, Sophia's dad immediately grew tense as he again asked.

"Who hurt you? Tell me. Dad is here for you. Did Lorenzo do anything?"

"No one, Dad. Bye." Sophia cut the call and saw Lorenzo was still reading newspaper without giving a damn to her. This time, with anger, Sophia also felt sad at the same time. His wife was sad and he hurt her. He is supposed to apologise and console her but he was acting like as if it was her who hurt him. She acknowledges that she made a mistake but she didn't stand proudly like him and immediately apologized multiple times. He didn't care about her.

At this point, now it feels like he doesn't even have any feelings for her. Sophia even felt suspicious if Lorenzo is even marrying her willingly or forcibly. There is nothing that can force him into a marriage, he didn't want however his mother approved this marriage as soon as she saw Sophia so maybe, it's just a possibility that his mother kind of forced or blackmailed him into this marriage.

If it is, what she thinks it is, then there is no reason in Sophia marrying him ruining two lives. Lorenzo doesn't seem to care or bother about her so it's high likely he will continue being like this, after all, A human can't change overnight just after getting married. And even though, Sophia loves guys who are cold, she didn't mean careless. And Lorenzo is careless not only in her case but in everything. So, marrying him will only be a big loss and ruin for Sophia. She still has time for Marriage. She wants to see more of Lorenzo and then take any decision regarding this marriage. She can cancel the wedding whenever she wants. Sophia reminded herself.
