the journey to the evil forest

According to the instructions of the King by the chief priest, before the rising of the sun, the King, the chief priest, the elders and the entire village were already at the boundary between the community and the evil forest, the boy was the first person to be there and his mother, according to their custom and traditions, there was a long palm front rope demarcating the villagers and the evil Forest,

Step forward my son said the chief priest the boy then Step forward, with a loud but trembling voice, are you still willing to embark on this journey? Ask the chief priest, yes eyes of the gods, okay then since your mind is already made up, he then starts some incantations that only him understands, he put his hands on his bag and brought out a native white chalk and draw it on the boys body, starting from his eyes, his chest and other parts of the body, with each drawing he will invoke the gods for protection and guidance, after finishing the rituals he then said to the boy, you have been fortified for the journey ahead.

At that point the crowd were full of sorrow and pains, some were crying saying that he's going to his dead while others were praying for his safety and to return in one piece.

He turned and look at his mother who was already in tears but said to him, may the gods protect you and bring you back to me my son, you will succeed, and no harm shall come to you in this journey you're embarking on, the gods of our land will guide you and bring you home safe. The bid him farewell, and he started his journey while the whole village watch him as he makes his way in to the forest until they could see him no more.

When they can no longer see him the King then turn to the crowd and said to them, my people, we can now go back to our various homes and wait for the outcome of this journey, but don't forget to always pray for this young man that took the courage to embark on this journey to profound solution to this evil that is ravaging our land and killing our people, and don't forget you must not sleep with your two eyes closed, in other words you should not forget yourselves when you sleep at night for we don't know when the evil creature will appear.

After saying this everybody started moving to the various homes, but only the mother of the boy that was still left standing and looking towards the direction of where her son went in to, nobody noticed that the woman was left behind for everyone was working slowly like it was the end of the world (probably it was the end of the world for them at that time because they were living in fear because of the evil creature that have been terrorizing them for so long now).

Then two women walk up to her and touch her by her shoulder one of them said to her, it's okay my dear we know your pains, but you cannot be here forever let us go home it is well, the woman replied go home to where or to who, my only son is going to his death, and you are asking me to go home I'm going to stay here until he comes back to me.

No you cannot be here and wait for him responded the second woman let us all go home and pray for him that's what you can do, or you should do for it is dangerous out here, so after many talks and convincing words from the two women she then agreed to go home with them.

they accompanied her home and stayed with her for a long time until she was stable. the two women then took it upon themselves to always be checking up on the woman and to make sure that she's doing okay and always bringing food for her but she no longer have the desire to cook or eat anything because she was in pains of her son who has gone to the evil forest, and whenever they bring foods there will try to persuade her to eat food so that she can stay alive and see when her son will come back home not just coming back home but also bringing the solution that will destroy the evil creature that has been devouring the entire community, this where the encouragement they were given to her.
