THE DEPRESSING PAST

I ran back to my one and only shelter just to find it turned into ash.

I was literally mentally and physically exhausted cause it took me a lot of time to buy this little house of mine.

I just sat there and cried for hours no matter who shows me sympathy or tells me that I'll pass this phase of my life but at this point I can never have the courage to build even a room on my own with my salary .

With a heavy heart I was about to get up cause I have been sitting on the floor for hours and crying my eyes out , when I was about to stand up on my own , I just blanked out and that's all I know.

AFTER FEW HOURS:-

I woke up just to find out that Joseph was sitting besides me while holding my hand and crying.

"um...hey?"

"Amanda!! you woke up!!!!?? finally you woke up!! you just don't know how scared i was seeing you in such a condition!"

He said while hugging me so tight that I could barely breathe.

I was really moved by his concern.

I just simply smiled and look at him while slightly pushing him away to get some air to Breathe

"I'm fine Joseph stop crying"

"stay here for a sec , I'll bring you some soup"

"no no you don't have to worry , I'll just leave. thank you so much for your help . I'll get going now"

"wait you can't go right now !"

"Joseph I said I'm fine now it's was just weakness nothing else.."

"No Amanda it wasn't just weakness!"

" What do you mean by that?"

"We will talk about it later have some soup first I'll bring it here for you"

"No please I'll have to go to the fire station to get back my belongings I need to-.."

"But I already got them for you so just relax and rest for a bit after having this soup"

" Thank you so much for all of these and am really sorry for disturbing your personal time "

"Well that's alright now no more talking here , have the soup"

I felt guilty.

He was just being Generous and kind to me but I was unable to understand his intentions and I misunderstood him every now and then...

*sigh*

After having the soup I felt really sleepy for some reasons and i literally fell asleep for good 6-7 hrs.

when I woke up it was already midnight and Joseph was still sitting besides me with a wide grin on his face.

I wonder what he's thinking.

I asked him out of curiosity "hey what are you thinking about? "

"Amanda! I just find it strange but you know it's .. it's really lucky of me to have a friend like you...and I am hundred and ten percent sure about it!"

"What do you mean Josh?"

"come again?"

"I asked what do you mean ?"

"no what was the last work you said?"

"mean?"

"Nah! what did you call me ?"

"Oh Josh! 😅 I guess it was just a slip of tongue sorry about that..."

"It's ok I like it actually to be honest you should address me with that name more often I like it "

"you do?"

"yeah very much! you won't believe even my mother used to call me with the same name when I was a kid"

"really?"

"Yeah"

"where is she now ?"

"She left me ."

"What.?? bu..but why??"

"I don't know she always used to consider me as a burden of hers moreover since she was a single mom so..."

"Well... am really sorry about that but don't worry you have me now!"

"Yeah I know right!"

"Well... how about we go out and enjoy ourselves tonight!"

"It's already midnight Amanda"

"What are you scared that you might get bullied once again? don't worry I got your back!" I said teasingly so that he would agree to my demand and guess what he agreed to it!

just to cheer up his mood as well as mine I thought it would be better for us to have some fun.

Also I didn't knew about Joseph's past and somehow I can relate to him since we both don't have any family in particular.
