Chapter 4: Adventurer or Something

"Jah...Elijah...sir Elijah wake up" A tender female voice sounded as Elijah was still out cold, a gentle touch could be felt on his skin.

"Ah, is this heaven?" Suddenly a full-on slap landed on the boys' right cheek. "Master please don't say that. Wahhh, I don't want you to die" A voice of a younger girl could be heard this time along with her cries. Slowly, Elijah opened his eyes to see a small girl with white hair and a pair of cute animal ears bawling her eyes out on top of him.

"...Who's the kid...and where am I? Also" He looked around to realize he was in a carriage. "Why are we on a carriage?" He said full of confusion as he sat up and took a seat.

"Sir Elijah, it's me, Alvis" The beautiful elf with her white long hair and mesmerizing yellow eyes said and smiled. "And me, Cloud...how do you not recognize me, you stupid master" The little girl with the animal ears and the 7 tails pouted and crossed her hands over her chest, trying to act angry.

"...No you're not, Cloud is a fox, you're a beast person also hey Alvis it's nice to see you" He said confused to the girl and then smiled back at Alvis.

The girl quickly assumed the form of the little fox she previously had and jumped on Elijah's lap. "Is that better you idiot master?" She said and nuzzled on his stomach. Elijah could only look at Alvis in confusion.

"Hmm, it's going to take some time, so sit back and enjoy the story, sir Elijah" She took Cloud and started petting her as Elijah got comfortable on the other side of the carriage.

"After you passed out, the divine Beast, no Cloud became the girl you saw earlier...I think you got a chance to see her stats window, right?" She chuckled and looked at Cloud.

"Yes master, I'm sorry for not telling you before, but I'm not an ordinary fox, I'm a kitsune, otherwise known as the guardian deity of the forest" The little fox explained happily, it looked like she was boasting about it but she hid it well behind her playful tone.

"OK...even though that's a giant shock...I get that, I'm in a fantasy world after all" He sighed and fell back on the seat like he was melting on it. "But I'm more curious as to why I'm inside a carriage, and why are you here Alvis?"

Yet again, he was confused about the whole situation, but quickly alvis started explaining. "You see, it's been 2 weeks since you lost your senses and another 2 weeks the previous time...My father said he couldn't let you freeload in the kingdom for any longer so he sent me with you to go on a journey he said"

"Damn that old geezer" Elijah thought and could clearly see Asmus planning on how to make him agree on marrying his daughter. "The king was right...wait did you say 2 weeks?...on both times?"

"Yes master, 28 full days. I thought you were gonna die" Cloud jumped on his lap once again. "And who's fault do you think it is, huh?" He playfully pinched the little fox's cheeks.

"Don't be so harsh on her sir Elijah. She's just a  baby" Alvis reached out her hand to pet Cloud  but instead, she started petting Elijah, which got as red as a tomato. "Master, are you Ok?"

"Ahem yes, yes, of course I'm OK...so where are we going? Also, just for you Alvis, you can drop the honorifics. Just call me Elijah, it'll be easier too" He smiled at her, trying to play it cool and not completely fall for her.

"Of course" She replied happily, practically jumping from joy after Elijah's words. "Right now, we're heading to Gikan, the 2nd biggest town in the entire human territory"

"Oh, I know this one. Someone mentioned it when I arrived here. Most of the people that came to this world are probably there as we speak" Elijah looked at her and let her continue speaking after his interference. Cloud was just laying on Elijah's lap ready to fall asleep.

"Oh, you're gonna see for your self Elijah" She quickly dropped the formal talk and chuckled as they got close to the city walls.

"Confirmation" The guard stopped the carriage, and the driver gave him a peculiar looking crest.

"P-please go ahead, don't mind the queue, and just  comfortably enter the city" He smiled at the driver and let him pass. "Let me guess...was that the royal family insignia?" Elijah sighed and sat back.

"I see you're well informed Elijah, it is indeed my family's insignia and it can pass through most security checks" Alvis smiled confidently as the carriage kept moving through the town.

"Oh, where we are, you can get out now. We have arrived at the adventurers guild" She said happily, and the doors opened for them to get out.

"No way...adventurers guild? That's like a dream come true...every game I've played had one" he thought excitedly as he started getting out of the carriage while holding Cloud gently.

"Wait a moment please" Alvis said while trying to put on her heavy armor. "OK, let's go" She jumped out of the carriage with a metallic sound. They walked into the guild, and as soon as they walked in, a bunch of buff men gave them weird looks, except the receptionist.

Unlike Elijah's imagination, the receptionist wasn't a beautiful elf with a big chest but a tall man with over 200 lbs of muscle.

"Welcome to Gikans adventurers guild. Would you like to register? You're a new face after all"

"Hmmm, yeah, I'd like to become an Adventurer"

"Ohh, nice, nice, that's the drive, mister. So, we'll start with a few mandatory questions" He sat on a chair and pulled out a piece of paper.

"Whats your name sir?"

"Elijah"

"Class and sub-classes"

"Mage as for sub-classes brawler and Blacksmith"

"Level and stats"

"Oh, wait just a second"

Elijah started equally sidtributing his remaining stat points.

"So my level is 50, and my stats are the following: 20 Strength, 20 Agility, 60 MP, 1534 HP, and 18 Defense"

"...that's a lot even for a level 50...well, I won't ask for your titles, but you have one last thing to do before I can register you" The huge, bald man stood up and put the paper in a drawer.

"What would that be sir?" Elijah said happily as he was thsi close to fulfilling a childhood fantasy of his. "Well, you need to fight me of course, to determine your rank" He smiled and snapped his fingers, teleporting both in the middle of the arena along with Alvis and Cloud on the stands.

"Ready to start big boy?" The huge man smiled like he had been possessed and got in a fighting position.

"Guild leader, you know that we never fight our new members, right?" A beautiful blond elf grabbed him by the ear and dropped him on his knees. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, ughh, just please stop"

"Wait...guild leader?"

"Yes, this bug guy here is the guild leader, and his nickname is Marauder. You can call him Hughes though" She smiled and teleported them back to the guild house inside the guild leaders office.

"So what will happen about my registration?" Elijah said anxiously that it was terminated, Alvis patted his shoulder and whispered.

"You're already an adventurer. I talked to Shini beforehand so she could register you without problem" The elf on the other side of the room let the guild masters ear go and smiled.

"Mister Elijah, welcome to the guild" Se walked there and handed him a bronze card with the letter F. Elijah, knowing what that means, he smiled widely.

"So now that I'm an F rank Adventurer, can I go complete missions?"

"Now now, let me explain everything to you" She sat down on the couch opposite to him, the armored princess, and the small fox that was asleep for some reason.

"First of all, there are 7 ranks from F all the way up to S and your card will upgrade every time you rank up" Hse leaned forward as the bug guy sat in the corner like he got scolded and rubbed his ear.

"To advance ranks, you need to do a specific amount of missions corresponding to your rank of course or half of that if they are a rank higher" She smiled and adjusted her glasses, sitting back and crossing her legs.

"T-thanks...uhm are you really sure you're not the guild master?" He said impressed by her and her powerful character.

"Well, he is the strongest around here, and he knows the Viscount that governs this town, so he is indeed the guild master but I do most of the work...because he likes to challenge all our newbies" She turned around and glared at him intimidatingly. "I-I'm sorry" The huge man cowered on fear and returned to his corner.

"Anyways...we'll go for now and come back so I can get a mission tomorrow" He got up and immediately after, the guild leader opened the door for him and Alvis.

"See you tomorrow mister Elijah" Shini said and chuckled as the door closed. "...let's just find an inn and go eat something" Elijah got goosebumps as he recalled the intimidating elf.

"Master I'm hungry" Cloud slowly woke up and groaned. "Yeah yeah, we're going to eat" He patted her and they kept walking through the streets of Gikan in search of an accommodation.
