Episode 19

Siena

As soon as Derek left, I went to the seamstress’s house and knocked on the door, which was quickly opened. When she smiled and went to greet me, I felt a strange energy coming towards me, as if something was calling me.

"Can you keep an eye on Jasmine for me? I'll pick up the clothes later," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

"Sure, but did something happen?" she asked, confused.

Without giving many details, I ran and, looking back, shouted:

"Sorry, I can't explain now."

I followed running where Derek went with his friend, not knowing exactly where I was going, but guided by a unique and indescribable feeling. Holding the strap of my dress, I continued, the afternoon breeze ruffling my hair. Soon I realized that I was approaching some mountains.

My heart raced from running, and my breathing was ragged as I bent over, placing my hands on my knees to catch my breath.

When I straightened up and looked ahead, I was momentarily paralyzed. At the entrance of a cave, surrounded by Derek and the pack in their wolf forms, was a huge golden dragon.

The wind blew, whistling around me, and the tall grass swayed gently in the rhythm of the wind. The momentary shock was replaced by panic when I saw that Derek and the dragon seemed ready to face each other.

Without thinking, I ran quickly towards them. Derek and the dragon looked at me at the same time as I approached. I placed myself in front of Derek, opening my arms and facing the creature. The golden scales of the dragon gleamed under the late afternoon light, and its long mustaches fell majestically across its face.

"Get out of here, Siena! What do you think you're doing?" Derek said, worried.

But I said nothing. I just stared at the creature in front of me, which seemed to be evaluating me with penetrating eyes.

"There you are, little one. What took you so long?" said the dragon, its thick, hoarse voice sending shivers down my spine.

His voice reverberated within me, awakening something dormant. My whole body trembled, but I stood firm. I took a step forward, still shielding Derek with my body.

Derek, already in his human form, positioned himself beside me and said, looking at me deeply:

"You shouldn't be here, Siena. How did you know...?"

"I don't know, Derek. Something seemed to call me…"

"I called you, child," interrupted the dragon, approaching.

"Hey, calm down, big guy. Stay where you are. She is my mate, and if you want to hurt her, you will have to kill me first," Derek said firmly, placing himself in front of me.

"Get out of the way, little wolf. My conversation is with her," replied the dragon, his voice echoing like thunder.

For some reason, I felt no fear, but a strong call, a kind of understanding that screamed within me. Moved by this, I said:

"Please, Derek, step aside."

He looked at me surprised and appraisingly, but I gave him a meaningful look that said it was okay. Reluctantly, he stepped aside, though he maintained a watchful posture.

The dragon got closer and closer, beginning to circle me as he spoke:

"Siena, from distant lands, I have been waiting for you for tireless days, child."

Stopping in front of me, he finished, his old, wise eyes fixed on mine:

"You were the chosen one. The one who will carry on my legacy, the one who is destined."

I felt a shiver run down my spine. The dragon's words echoed within me, awakening memories and sensations I didn't know I possessed. I took a deep breath, trying to process what he was saying.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked, my voice trembling slightly.

The dragon then looked at me deeply and said:

"You were chosen to care for something very precious to me... but for that, you will have to follow me inside the cave."

Before I could answer, Derek intervened, his voice laden with authority and concern:

"What is this? Stop it! She's not going anywhere with you."

The dragon did not take his eyes off me, his thick, imposing voice echoing around us.

"The choice is hers."

I felt the weight of the moment on my shoulders. The dragon's piercing gaze and the concern in Derek's eyes left me torn. I took a deep breath, trying to find the courage within myself. There was an inexplicable connection to the dragon, something beyond what I could understand at that moment.

"Derek, I need to do this," I said, my voice trembling slightly but firm.

"Siena, you don't know what he might want from you," said Derek, his eyes pleading with me to reconsider.

"I know, but I feel like this is important. Something inside me says I must trust." I responded, trying to convey the certainty I felt.

Derek sighed, clearly reluctant, but finally agreed.

"I'll be here, waiting for you. Be careful," he said, his voice full of love and concern.

I looked one last time at Derek, seeing the conflict in his eyes. He wanted to protect me, but he also understood the need for me to go my own way. With a nod, I turned and followed the dragon toward the cave.
