Chapter 4

“Son have you heard the story of our ancestors went to war with demons.” my father said.

I looked at father with curiosity. Even though I was just ten years old I wanted to be like him but at that time I thought me father was a good man. I never knew he a tyrant.

“Yes father.” I said with such enthusiasm.

“Well thousands of years ago demons came to world of the living or what you would call earth. They came with no mercy and brought their strongest. They showed us no resolve as they slaughtered thousands of humans. Nobody could defeat them.”

“But there are no demons now which means they were stopped

“Smart boy.”, he said as he rubbed my head and roughened my hair. “Yes they were stopped but humans didn’t stop them but rather the elemental gods did”.

“Gods, as in heavenly beings.”

“Yes, apparently they prayed to the gods to intervene and they did. There coming was set in motion by a mighty rumble which was a signal to the demons that they had nowhere to flee to.”

“You always say gods as in plural which means they were than one, so how many were they.”

“There were seven gods\- Azathel, the god of fire, Kirazes,the goddess of water, Seiphus,the goddess of air, Galios, the god of earth, Belsirus, the god of lightening, Zerkies, the god of darkness and finally Inignium, the god of light. And all seven of them came for the battle”.

“What did our ancestors do then.”

“They went and fought side along the gods while others decided to stay and watch. The battle was epic and it ended with the god building a seal that was connected to hell and sending them back. As a reward for fighting with them, the gods blessed us with riches but Inignium thought it wasn’t enough and so he promised to make one of his descendants his champions.”

“What’s a champion.”

“Well basically an elemental champion is an enforcer of the gods.They give them tremendous power and they keep the peace in earth”.

“So has he fulfilled the promise.”

“No he hasn’t, and I don’t believe he ever will.”

“So you have given up on the promise”.

“I have.” He stood up, adjusted his shirt and headed to the door. He held the door knob, looked back and said “To be honest I don’t believe that story. I only told you because I promised your grandfather I would and I have done just that”.He turned back to the door and left.

I called out to him but he didn’t answer. I jump off my bed and ran to the door. I opened I and I saw nothing but darkness,just a hollow infinite void.I don’t why but something urged me to take a step in the void and I did and fell into an endless pit of pain. I screamed and shouted for help even though I was very sure that did not stop me from still shouting.And then at my moment of weakness I saw a glimmer a light, it became bright till it overcame the darkness. Then I saw a figure,it came closer and said “It is time.” I didn’t know what it meant and I didn’t want to know.

​I woke up. Everything I saw was a dream but I felt like it meant something. I looked up and saw my capturer. I reached for him but I was hand-cuffed. I looked around and realised we were in a car. He looked at the rear mirror and saw me awake.

​“You’re awake,”, he said gently with a sinister smile.
