The Count of Anjou

May 12, 1280

Anjou, Northern France

(This is worded by the narrator instead of Badoligo)

The People of Anjou were in constant fear of the loss of one of their greatest territories, Sicily. The Count was in an expedition in Achea, an island in western Greece, advantaging from the recent separation of the Byzantine Empire into the Catholic Latin and the Orthodox Nicean Kingdoms. The French- born Latin king, Baldwin allowed his fellow Frenchmen to take some of the still unconquered Orthodox islands. Anjou took Achea and Ionia.

Count Charles was in Vasparos, in Achea when he heard the news of the revolt. He ordered Jean Remy, the French governor ,to try to stop the rebellion if he could, till Charles himself took over the war. However, in his first battle itself, he was slain and his head placed on a pike and pareaded through the streets. Accounts say he was slain by Badoligo himself.

Mediterranean Sea area between Italy and Greece, nearing Sicily and Naples

Charles I, Count of Anjou was on his Captured Dromon, sailing through the seas, he was nearing Sicily and thinking of the punishments he would give to the rebels, especially their leader. He had heard of John of Procida, his Medical history and his military prowess, still he wanted to atleast meet this "gentleman" and then cleave him to bits. His servants were sharpening his longsword in the interiors of the ship, making it ready for combat. He watched as the waves of the Mediterranean, crashed through the sea's lusty aquatic hue. He watched the gulls fly through the air with mouthfuls of fish. The dolphins leapt from the sea, as to commemorate the coming of the Count in Italy. Count Charles looked at his map, he was nearing the wretched island, which was in the storm of revolt. He had to save Sicily, as the rebellion could spread northwards in Naples where resided his young son as governor. If the rebels led by John reached Naples, Prince Robert would be slain. He left his other son, Charles II in Anjou to look over his French provinces of Maine and Provence.

"Your highness", called his general Pierrois, "The rebellion might spread westwards in the palace of Princess Constance, she is getting betrothed to King Peter III of Aragon, now to save her if the Spaniards attack Sicily it would be hell on Earth We can manage to defeat a couple of rebels but very much not an entire powerful country, which defeated the entire Empire of the Almohads."

"Indeed", replied Charles. "We have to act fast in trying to defeat these forces, we must then try to negotiate with Peter and get them both out of Sicily, or by Louis Francois's grace we'll be massacred, the Spaniards will take Achea, Ionia, and even worse, they might attack Anjou and take it too. So my friend rally moi forces, and let's kill John of Procida, et le reste de ses rebelles"
