Synopsis

     Hi, my name is Melissa Devonshire, I'm eighteen years ol--no no, I'll be turning eighteen in a month, yeah, so...my life has been a mess ever since I turned sixteen, I tried to live a normal life like other kids but, it was just impossible, from me getting befriended by backstabber to me getting kidnapped to me haven gotten prepared an arranged marriage at such a young age like WHAT THE HECK!? I don't even know why I got married to that jerk, well it's actually my fault, and I had to fall for their stupid bribery right into their trap, gosh, it's so frustrating. 

          I have a sister, Evelyn Anderson, she's seven years older than me, her husband's name is Diego Anderson and they have two kids, four years old Jefferson Anderson and two years old Daniel Anderson, the both of them are very stubborn, and thief parents bring them most weekends to spend it with their grandparents and their aunty, which is me, makes me feel old. 

        Then I have two best friends, Olivia Campbell and Charlotte Mendez, I love them so much,they'd always be the best friends I ever had, I don't know what I'd do without them, they always support me and they'd always tell me ‘Babe, don't give up.’ and I am NOT going to disappoint them.

Currently, I'm just sitting in the angle of the couch with my legs folded, the living room was filled with the sound of crunches as I stuff my mouth with cheese chips whilst reading ‘The Dangerous Mafia’, It's my favorite author's latest edition, she published it a week ago and I immediately went to the city's bookstore to get it, if I had decided to wait until it got to our district, I don't think I'll be able to read in peace, even though it was expensive, its freaking awesome which was worth it.

It was drizzling outside, it wasn't much of a rain but it's still so cold, Mom's in the kitchen making some creampuff for the boys whilst dad went to get them from their place, suddenly, the light went out, I was expecting it, the fuse has been giving us problem for past few days and dad didn't bother getting an electrician to fix it, and I am not going out in this cold weather to fix it, actually I don't even know how to, Mom walked into the living room with a lantern and a lighter in hand, moving over to the fireplace to lit up some fire.

“Sweetie, could you help me check the creampuff so it doesn't get burnt, you really should start going into the kitchen, I've never seen you in the kitchen even after you came back, Lisa, you're a married woman.” My mom rambled just like everyday.

“Seriously mom, we're not doing this again, right? ” I exhaled loudly.

“Of course we are, you don't know how to--” She started but I cut her off by finishing her statement.

“Cook, thank you for reminding me, could I just do something other than checking the creampuffs.” I finished her statement and groaned loudly.

“No, you should--”Just as she was about to argue with me, dad came walked in with the boys.

“We're home! ”Dad said aloud as he placed Daniel down before taking off his rain boots, Daniel scoot off straight to the kitchen.

“Grandpoppa said we're gonna have marsh mellows!! ”Jefferson shouted as he also took off his rain boots.

“Thank goodness, this is my chance.” I whispered to myself and stood up to sneak away but I got pulled back my mom and she shoved my jacket, rainboots and an umbrella into my arms, along with some cash, taking the book from me.

“Could you go down to the store and get us some marsh mellows and milk candies, thank you.” Mom said, pushing me towards the door, it wasn't even a request.

“But mom, I never said yes, and dad should have got it in the way.” I grumbled as I hurriedly put on the jacket that stopped just a little above my mid-thigh, and hopped as I put on the boots that stopped midway my forelegs, leaving my skin revealed, yeah, I was wearing a bum short and T-shirt.

“He must have forgotten and well, he's tired now, so go on, hurry.” Mom opened the door ushering me out.

“Wait mom, my--” I started but the door was shut right in my face.

“My scarf...”I mumbled, a soft foggy sigh escaping my lips, my black hair which was supposed to be short, had grown long so I spread it to cover my neck, I bit my lips and opened the umbrella before heading down the porch, shivering cold breeze hit my skin harshly, I'm not wearing any gloves, no scarf, short clothes and worst part was that, my boot have gotten smaller, I paced down the pavement quietly with foggy cold breath escaping my lips, my right hand in my jackets pocket while the left held up the umbrella.

Did it seriously have to be me!? I'm a girl!! I walked down from the pavement to the bare street, moving over to the other side of the street, then I lifted the umbrella slightly to look at the direction of the convenience store only to be welcomed by the sight of him standing a few meters away from me, my pace slowed down, coming to a halt, I stared at him and he stared back for some moments, I quickly looked away and decided to pretend like I didn't see him, I started my pace down the pavement again and came to pass him but he held the umbrella.

“Are you gonna keep ignoring me? ” He asked, I played deaf and let go off the umbrella for him, then continued walking but he held my hand quickly.

“Meli--”

“Don't! Do not call my name, let go off me, you disgust me.” I cut him off, managed to yank my hand out of his grasp and continued walking but he pulled me back, hugging me from behind.

“I miss you so much Melissa, please come back to me, I love you.” He whispered, his words stroke me at first but it was as if he added fuel to fire, a rising anger from within me had me fuming angrily, I pulled away, turned and then

SLAP!

“Stay away from me, Don't you understand, I hate you! You're a shame to humanity!”I spatted!
