A stroll with Chris

To take the stroll, they went out from the smallest balcony, the one which gave access to the garden of the estate. They quietly slipped out, and Lia reminded herself that they had to be back right when the piano concert ended, otherwise there would be too much fuss. They quickly went past the shaded aviary, to the garden path where they used to play hide and seek before.

As she walked through the paths full of memories, her features relaxed, and she started to feel relieved of the peace there.

"So... what's been troubling you these days?"

"Huh? wh... no, nothing 😅"

"Lia", Chris said, his face becoming stern, "We may have been separated for four years now, but I will always know when you're troubled, I can see it in the way you behave. Something happened today, didn't it?"

Chris was not exactly aware of Lia's powers, but he understood her very well and always thought that she was a little special, with her beauty, elegance and intelligence. Still, Lia hesitated to tell him of her situation.

"Nothing, really, just... a lot of stuff is going on, and I don't really know what to make of it. 😕"

"Hmm... is it personal, or are you comfortable sharing your issues with me?"

"Well... I don't know... it's something spiritual I guess? 🤔"

"Woah, spiritual? That's a whole new level... but anyways, if you feel like you need advice on your purpose in life and such existential crisis, let me know, I am an expert 😂", saying so, he gave a small wink.

Lia laughed, it was definitely good to talk again with old friends. She glanced at the time in her watch and figured she had around ten minutes more.

"Let's start heading back now. Concert will end soon. We can talk more on the way."

Saying so, they both went back.

The rest of the celebration passed in a blur. She had some dinner, and then, feeling a bit sleepy, asked her father if the guests would go soon, so that she could take some rest.

In another hour, the hall was absolutely empty of the numerous guests that had come. There were only about 10 caretakers, cleaning up whatever mess was there. Lia took a shower and flopped down on her bed, looking up at the ceiling. She turned the events of the day over in her head and started to plan out her agenda for the next day.

She had Spanish classes from 10 in the morning to 12 noon, which meant she would be unavailable for the morning. Lia wouldn't possibly be allowed out for too long after that, since she was to have lunch as well.

"Okay, lunch at 1, and then I'll set out. I need to know why the forest called out to me. Hmm... I'll also take my necklace and ring, just in case...", Lia thought out loud.

Then, when tiredness started to take over her, she switched off the lights and drifted off to an uneasy sleep, disturbed by odd dreams which pulled together the incidents and mixed them up, making her uncomfortable.
