Episode 19

Nathan:

Still hugging Maya, my grandmother asks Richard:

"What would happen if the will was real? Would my daughter be able to win a possible lawsuit?"

"We would investigate what your husband left as inheritance, and she would be entitled to that part, but if you want to leave everything to Nathan, go to a doctor and get a sanity evaluation and attach it to the will. Your assets can be left to whomever you want, and they will have no grounds to contest it."

"Thank you, Richard."

We said goodbye to him, and he left.

"And now, Grandma, what are you going to do?"

"Tomorrow, we're going to the company to formalize Brandon's dismissal, and I have some ideas for there."

"Are you going back to work with me?"

"No, my dear, I'm too old for that. That's a job for young people. But I've decided to help my new granddaughter put her family in their rightful place and for Tam to become strong and command respect wherever she goes."

My grandmother looks around and sees everyone who's home.

"You're in a harem, my son, full of beautiful women, but keep your eyes on Emily."

"Nathan Chistopher is still working here in town, right?"

"Yes, Grandma. I was with him a few days ago. Why? Do you need a gynecologist?"

"No, since I'm healthy, I don't need a nurse by my side 24 hours a day. But that lovely young woman is a registered nurse and dropped out of medical school due to a lack of resources. She wants to work as a pediatrician, a perfect match for a gynecologist. Ask him to hire her as a nurse and pay for her entire degree; that way, he'll soon have a pediatrician at his hospital."

"Thank you so much, Mrs. Amber. I don't know how to thank you."

"Just continue to be my granddaughter's best friend, supporting her in everything, and that will be thanks enough. After all, you helped me bring those two together and are already part of the family."

"And you, young Lia, where do you work?"

"I'm Mr. Richard's assistant."

"Sir? He's so young to be called 'sir.'"

"It's a form of respect."

"Alright, dear."

"And Grandma, where will I work?"

"I already have a position for you, Helen. You made me proud by facing those vultures and standing by Nathan's side. Max should have been the one doing that. I would love to see my two grandsons running the family business, but he chose his path, and you chose yours. Tomorrow, I'll give you a position."

And as soon as dawn broke, we went to the company and called a shareholders' meeting. As everyone was settling in for my grandmother to announce the changes, Brandon stormed into the meeting room.

"What are you doing here, Brandon? You weren't summoned to this meeting."

"I haven't been fired yet; I work at this company. We'll see about that. The president is my wife, and she's a shareholder. I'm here representing her interests."

"Since my son-in-law jumped the gun, the first order of business is to announce to everyone that he is fired, effective immediately. He is no longer the vice president of this company."

"This is unacceptable! You're not in your right mind, Amber. I was talking to my wife, and we're going to file for guardianship. You are not in any condition to make decisions and need to be declared incompetent. Who better to take care of his mother than her own daughter?"

"You filthy worm! I'll kill you!"

"You see? I'm being threatened with death by my nephew who doesn't want us to uncover his plans to use his mentally incapacitated grandmother to make decisions, and he's persuading her to disinherit her own family to keep all the assets for himself!"

"You wretch!"

"Enough, Nathan. Let's not get carried away by emotions. And you, Brandon, can do whatever you want. I'll be home waiting for your lawsuit. I'll face you in court with pleasure. I'm not a woman to be threatened, my son-in-law. But I want to give you a warning: all your actions will have consequences. So, if you want to file a lawsuit, you better be sure you're going to win because, if not, you'll suffer the consequences of your actions. Now get out of here! You're forbidden to set foot in this company!"

"This won't stand! My wife is a shareholder, and I am her representative."

"It's not stated in the bylaws of this company that shareholders can barge into the company whenever they please. If you want to know how the company is being managed, request a report, and we'll send it to you. But for now, you get out!"

He storms out, slamming the door as Maya hugs me.

"Continuing, gentlemen. For the position of vice president, we already have the perfect candidate, and she is present at this meeting. It's my new granddaughter, Maya Brook Ford Moore, wife of my grandson, Nathan. My granddaughter, Helen, will be the chief operating officer and also Maya's personal assistant. In the legal department, I appoint Lia Brook to be the director, sharing this role with Richard. Matt, could you help Helen learn the ropes? As the CFO, you are perfect to teach her since Nathan will be helping Maya."

"Of course, Mrs. Amber. It will be a pleasure to help Miss Helen."

"And you, who are you?"

"Josh Carter, ma'am, the sales director."

"Do you have an assistant?"

"No, Mrs. Amber."

"Then hire one."

"But Grandma..."

"Quiet, Nathan. I'm putting things in order around here."

"Yes, ma'am. I already have the perfect candidate."

"Of course you do. As I imagined. Meeting adjourned."

My grandmother declares the meeting over, and the urge to wring that wretch's neck was strong. My grandmother gave him authority as if he were someone important, even giving him an assistant. All I wanted was for him to be out of here. I only let him stay because Maya asked me to. She must be planning something against him. But why did my grandmother ask him to get an assistant?
