Episode 18

Nathan:

"Grandma, are you coming to the company with us tomorrow?"

"I need your help. I'm going to give Lindisey, Brandon, Max, and Helen one last chance to see if they've changed. I can't continue with my plans if I'm not sure if they've changed or stayed the same."

"I haven't seen any change. In all the time you were in the hospital, they didn't visit you for a single day."

"Let's do this..."

Grandma shared her plan. I didn't think it was right, but who am I to question the ideas of Ms. Amber Ford? It took me some time to work out the whole plan, but within four hours, they were at my house - my aunt, her husband, and their children.

"We're here, Nathan. Why did you call us so urgently?"

"For the reading of Grandma's will."

"My mother died?"

"Two days ago. And she demanded that as soon as she died, her body should be cremated and you shouldn't be called for the funeral because the only person who took care of her was me."

"I couldn't bear to see my mother in the hospital."

It's amazing how none of them showed any hint of sadness, but rather, Richard opening the fake will that left 80% of the company's shares to me, along with all the other properties and wealth, and the only thing they were left with was what they already owned.

"This is absurd! Mom completely cut us off!"

"Grandma only left assets to you, Nathan."

"And what did you expect? In the four months she was hospitalized, none of the four of you visited her. You only looked for her when it was time for celebrations like birthdays and New Year's Eve. You had no affection for her."

"I'm going to sue you, Nathan. You definitely induced my mother to do this. You must have taken advantage of her in her moment of weakness."

"Moment of weakness, Aunt? You never cared about my grandmother. You just wanted the dividends from her shares. And now I'm going to sue you and I'll see you in court."

"You're being too abusive, Nathan. You don't know how sclerotic Mom already was. It was about time she rested, but I'll go after my rights. I'm entitled to more assets, as is my husband and my children."

"If Grandma hated us to the point of not leaving us any assets, it was a good thing she passed away. At least we don't have to see her disdain and preference for you."

"You damn worm! You're trash, Max! You don't work, you don't study, you just live off an allowance, and you still wish ill on my grandmother!"

"You're right, my love. We have to sue Nathan. He must have induced his mother to take everything. He's a greedy man. That old woman wasn't all there anymore. It was about time she died."

"Please stop it! I'm embarrassed. I'm tired of you guys fighting over Grandma's belongings."

"What's wrong, Helen?"

"You're not sad about Grandma's passing. I'm tired of following in your footsteps, Mom. I want to graduate and be someone."

"You will be my daughter. A Ford deserves to marry a rich husband and be treated like a queen."

"Just like you, who married my father and pretends to work with Nathan, but lives off the fat salary that he doesn't show up for at the company, and also off your expenses, where you just take money from the company. None of you three work properly, and you still prevent me from working. I'm fed up with this. And to close the circus, you're happy about Grandma's death because you thought you were going to get rich without any effort. Nathan, can I stay at your house, and will you help me study and work to earn my own money? Grandma made it clear to me not to leave anything to these vultures, and to me too, otherwise they wouldn't have forgiven me and handed over my share to them."

"At least there's someone who can be saved in this family. You can stay here as long as you need, Helen."

"You're stupid! You're going to humiliate yourself for Nathan. I'm going to sue you, I swear, and I'm going to get what's mine. You're not going to keep everything. Mom was a crazy old woman who was obsessed with you just because you looked like Paul, but I will get my share. I'm her daughter too, and you're not going to keep everything. You want to know something else? I'm glad she's dead. I couldn't stand that favoritism anymore."

Grandma opens the office doors and claps her hands, but her face is completely red with tears, and Maya is supporting her by her side.

"The masks have finally fallen. I finally know who I can count on in my own family. Good to know what you think of me, Lindisey. I made one mistake in my life" the way I raised you, giving you love and affection, and look what I get. You're happy that I could die. But know one thing, my dear daughter, I'm healthier than you. Now, the three useless ones, get out of here! I don't want to see you on this property ever again, let alone in the companies. You're fired, Brandon. And Helen, my dear, I'm glad you've changed and want to be someone good.

The three of them leave, and only my cousin is left, hugging my grandmother and crying, while Maya was looking at me.

"You see, my love, it's not just your family that has vermin. Mine too."
