Maya:

I didn't feel good talking loudly to the staff, but Nathan said that I had to impose respect. I just hope they get used to me soon so I can treat them differently, the housekeeper was kind of rude, it felt like I was stealing her place in the house. Maybe she's jealous of Nathan? She looks about 50 years old to me, it's not jealousy as if he were a son, or is it as a woman? Well, I shouldn't worry about it since our marriage won't last long.

The next morning, we went together to his company, the same one I stopped in front of the day I met Josh, what if he's there?

We arrived at the company and stopped in front of the secretary's desk, who gave Nathan a polite smile and looked at me curiously.

"Good morning, Hillary. This is Mrs. Maya Brook Ford, my wife."

Her first reaction was to put both hands over her mouth.

"Forgive me, Mr. Ford, for the surprise. I had no idea you were married!"

"No need to apologize. I wasn't married. I got married yesterday."

Unlike the housekeeper, the secretary was lovely and treated me very well. Nathan walked around the company showing me how things worked.

After he said that Josh wasn't at the company, I calmed down and enjoyed being there. We stayed there all morning and soon after lunch, we went to the hospital. Finally, I would meet his sick grandmother. The doctor authorized us to spend the afternoon with her. Nathan was the first to enter his grandmother's room. She was sitting up in bed.

"How's the most beautiful grandmother in the world doing?"

"Surviving, my boy. Can't wait to finally rest."

"Don't say that, Grandma. You know I can't live without you."

"Of course I know, and that's why I made you a special request, and I can't wait for you to fulfill it."

"You can be happy then, because I just fulfilled your request. Today I came to introduce my wife, Maya Brook Ford."

"What a beautiful young lady! It's a pleasure to meet you, Maya."

"The pleasure is all mine, Mrs. Amber."

"Did he force you to marry him? Did he offer you money?" I smile at her and hold her hands.

"Of course not, ma'am. Nathan wouldn't need to force a woman to marry him."

"He was an indecisive man, and you helped him make a decision in life, that's all, and he got the courage to propose."

"How I wish I could live many years to see my great-grandchildren be born."

I was taken aback by this conversation. "Don't rush it, Grandma. We're still at the beginning of our marriage. We're not planning on having children so soon."

"I'm going to try to recover a little and be able to go home, and then teach you how to take care of things. And has Berta given you a hard time yet? She's very jealous, especially of Nathan, but once she gets used to you, you'll see that she has a good heart. It's like she's family."

"And I'll be happy to receive your help. I hope you get well soon and live many years."

"I'm already tired, my dear. I worked hard all these years to build an empire for my family. My daughter only disappointed me by marrying a freeloader. My son married a good woman, but didn't have time to enjoy it. Fortunately, he left behind the most beautiful fruit of their relationship, Nathan. "We will be, Grandma, we will be very happy."

"My dear, could you ask the nurse to change this water jug for me? It's been sitting here for a long time."
