Episode 3

Maya:

"Dad, you can't be serious."

"I am serious, Maya. If you don't reconsider your decision and go there to talk to Josh about getting married immediately, you can leave."

"I'll pack my things."

"There's nothing to pack. You can leave through the same door you came in."

"Can I at least take my documents?"

It was the only thing my father let me take from home. I left with the clothes on my back, my documents, and my cell phone. Not knowing where to go, the only place I knew had love and understanding was at the home of my godmother, Ava.

"“I can't believe you went through this, my love. George is crazy, and you're just like him. How can you leave your own house? He should be the one to leave. The house is yours.”"

"I don't want any fights, Godmother."

"You don't want any fights! He humiliates you, he wants to force you to marry a damn traitor. Maya, you have to be smarter, my girl. You need to find a lawyer to revoke the power of attorney. How are you going to let your father manage your inheritance inside your house when he kicked you out and told you he disowns you as a daughter? If he disowns you, he'll have to find another source of income because you're not an idiot."

"You're right, Godmother. I can't let them humiliate me any more than they already have."

I don't know why I opened my big mouth because it seems that whenever we speak, it attracts bad things. The doorbell rang, and when I opened it...

"“What are you doing here, Kate? Wasn't what I gave you at the hotel enough? Do you want to collect interest?”"

"I want to explain myself, and I'm telling you before you hear it from others again. As I said, I fell in love with Josh during the wedding preparations. If I gave myself to him, it was out of love, Maya. That's why as soon as you left," he asked me to marry him. I thought I was the one who should tell you.”

"You bitch! I'll kill you!"

"Leave her, Maya. She's not worth it."

I turn to leave her and close the door, but I come back and look at her.

"“Oh! Kate, dear, be careful when you're preparing for your wedding and your friendships because what you sow, you will reap. Best of luck, my dear. If you want me to be your bridesmaid, I'll buy a beautiful dress.”"

I slam the door in her face and cry in my godmother's arms.

"“Stop suffering, Maya. Those two bastards don't deserve your pain. You are strong, and you will overcome this, and we will laugh at their misfortune.”"

"You're right, Godmother. I'm going to find a lawyer, get what's rightfully mine, and think of a way to get back at those two. This won't stand. They won't laugh and have fun at my expense."

I took a shower and gathered all the documents I had. To my misfortune, the lawyer's office was very close to Moore Corporation. I never imagined that Josh would be there, but as soon as I got off the subway, I came across him at the company's door.

"“What are you doing here? If you came to beg me to come back and go through with the wedding commitment, you're wrong. You made me go through the worst humiliation, having to cancel a wedding just hours before it took place.”"

I let out a laugh.

"“Not even if you were the last man on earth would I go back to you.”"

"“You think you're very important, don't you, Maya?”"

"I am very important, ex-dear. I love myself and value myself. It's a good thing I woke up in time and caught you red-handed. Imagine me marrying a worm like you."

"“Listen here, you're already crossing the line.”"

"Excuse me, Josh, the world doesn't revolve around you. I have better things to do than waste my time with your insufferable presence. Oh, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I hope it happens this time. Maybe you can catch your 'bride' with someone else.”"

"All this is just sour grapes because I traded you for Kate. I just realized you're not good enough for me. Look at me, Maya, and see that you're a poor thing who would be at my feet. You'll end up a spinster. I doubt you'll find a groom who's good enough for me. That is, if you can find one. You'll end up alone, and your dream of getting married as a bride will never come true. Ridiculous dream. And still a virgin on top of it all! You'll scare away all the men. That's the difference between you and Kate: Kate knows how to satisfy a man, while you're pathetic."

My desire was to fly at his neck, but when I went to slap his face, he pushed me, and I fell badly and was left with a huge pain in my ankle while watching him enter the company's door. It wasn't long before another man took me in his strong arms and carried me to his car and then to a hospital. He was very kind. Besides taking me to the hospital, he listened to my whole rant and smiled. It was comforting to be able to vent all that pent-up anger. It was immense.

After boring him with my story, I apologized for bothering him, but he asked me to tell him more and to continue with my story. The only thing I said was that I wanted revenge, to get a better groom than Josh, and to make his and that bitch Kate's lives hell. He stopped to think for a moment, and suddenly he looked at me seriously, took my hand, and looked deep into my eyes.

"“And you succeeded in giving great pleasure to Nathan Ford Moore, your fiance.”"

That name wasn't unfamiliar, and I wasn't following what he was saying.

"“I don't understand what you're saying.”"

"Isn't that what you want? A groom who's better than Josh, and revenge on both of them? I'm willing to help you. We get married, and I help you get revenge on your new ex and your ex-best friend..."
