He didn't put too much thought or time into the matter. He decided to go to the north alone.
The next morning, Jungkook didn't show up to family breakfast for the first time ever. Since he only had a year left to live, he would rather avoid the thing he hated the most. He hated family breakfast because it was unpleasant and he always ended up throwing up what little he ate anyway.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
It's not as if anyone comes to see how I'm doing.
It was already past noon, and Jungkook's door was still sealed shut. No visitors had knocked to see how he was, which made h feel disappointed and unappreciated. He hadn't even told his family he was sick - 𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒔𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒆𝒍𝒕 𝒃𝒍𝒐𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅-but he was surprised at how quiet things were. Every little thing that he tried so hard to avoid thinking about was now coming back to him.
After skipping breakfast, Jungkook sat in front of his desk holding an apple that a maid had fetched for him. Once he had decided that he would leave, he quickly began to plan. He had never prepared for a trip before, but he held the view that he could go just about anywhere if he had enough money. The most important thing was to prepare and leave undetected.
He planned to spend a week preparing for the trip. He was going to look at carriage schedules and buy necessities for the trip.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Exchange gold coins for change...
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Spare clothing, jerky, water, and...
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Ah! I should also bring the document to call off the engagement with me.
He expected that the man would not say no if such papers were handed to him. he glanced down at the writing on the paper--
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Betrothal Nullification Paper.
He'd had no say in his betrothal arrangements when he was young, that decision belonged to his parents. Now that he was legally an adult, he had the right to decide on whether to marry or not.
Muttering his list under his breath, he realized he'd have to visit the doctor one more time. The most urgent item he required was the medicine that will keep him alive throughout the trip.
Jungkook calmly filled his notebook with the things he needed. After writing down ten items, he couldn't come up with anything else to add. Finally, he put down his pen and blew air on the paper to dry it, then ripped the page out of the notebook and tucked it up his sleeve.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
I would have to prepare the medicine first because I only have a week until departure.
Having decided where to go first, he stood up, filled his wallet-shaped like a bear's face-with his allowance, and changed into his outdoor clothes.
He considered calling the maid for a second, but in the end, decided against it. Perhaps it was because he had more things he needed to do on his own, but he was also growing uncomfortable in the maid's presence.
Jungkook took the time to look at himself in the mirror. His pale complexion looked lifeless and his dry lips were chapped and bloodless. His hair color made him look plain, it also looked disheveled no matter how much he combed it. His deep blue eyes, proving him Jeon lineage, were the only things that stood out.
He thought his eyes were his best feature-everything else was unappealing. It was true, his eyes were the only thing worth looking at, but compared to the rest of his family, they were just "pretty."
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Pretty.. *sarcastically*
His beautiful parents. Enphric, who had received countless love letters from omega. Feldon, who was outgoing and friendly. Abelia, who was sickly but always at the center of attention. They were always at the center of everything. Meanwhile, Jungkook was plain and didn't speak much-just an ordinary omega.
Maybe, had he been born in another house, he could have had a decent life, made friends, and been happy. But everyone around him shined so brightly that they made his fade even more.
Jungkook silently left the room. His room on the second floor was quiet and maids rarely visited. When he made his way to the main staircase, he saw someone coming up the stairs. Eunwoo - with his green hair and white coat-raised his head as if he felt his (jk) gaze while he (jk) waited for him to come up the stairs.
CHA-EUN-WOO
Lord Jungkook.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Yes. It's been a while, Eun woo. What brings you here?
CHA-EUN-WOO
Ah, It's Lia's... forgive me.
He looked into Jungkook's eyes and touched his (eun) lips. He (jk) gave no reaction, so Eun-woo continued.
CHA-EUN-WOO
Lady Abelia has her checkup today.
His eyes folded, looking friendly. He had good character and was well-spoken. He was a nice man who always returned friendliness in kind.
Jungkook nodded, trying to shake off the feeling of growing stiffness in his back.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Sure, go on.
He did not want a long conversation with him.
Ironically, he had been the one he (jk) had in mind when he (jk) had entertained sweet dreams. Noticing that his gaze was always on Abelia, he (jkl had nipped that feeling in the bud. He (jk) would heard that he had a younger sister who died at a young age. Apparently, his sister and Abelia had many things in common, so he was very friendly to Abelia. After a brief thought, Jungkook tried to hurry past him to the stairs.
CHA-EUN-WOO
Your complexion doesn't look good. Are you okay?
JEON JUNG-KOOK
☁️☁️ Since when do I interest you?☁️☁️
He thought with resentment.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
I just slept poorly, that's all.
CHA-EUN-WOO
You can have a checkup with Lady Abelia.
Because he was Abelia's older sister, Eun-woo showed some degree of camaraderie toward Jungkook, but that was all. His shallow friendliness stopped with one question and ended as soon as he declined.
