Chapter IV

The days that followed after the tea party was quiet, nothing extraordinary happened except for the disappearance of that maid. The household also became more stricter than what I remember it being, mother also said that she will be choosing a new maid for me today and that I should not worry about anything. I later realized that I had another older brother that I never knew about, the same one that is currently sitting on the opposite side of me and drinking his tea calmly.

It was a very different sight that I saw when he came home. I remember waking up with a voice screaming my name. I ran down still dressed in my night dress, fear gripping my heart that my mother would be in danger. It only registered later in my mind that the voice that called me was a male when I was hugged by something very large. I blinked a few times until I felt myself being pulled into a soft embrace.

"I'm glad that you are doing well." he smiled at me, placing the cup on its plate. Bring3me back to the present.

"That was some kind of entrance that you made big brother." I smiled back at him.

"It was frightening to receive a letter from our mother explaining what happened to you. You should have spoken to me first Kitten. I would have gotten you into a better school than this one, it's not even up to any standards to accommodate you." he sneered at Charles.

I stared at me mother as she drank her tea, she gave me a wink as she looked back at my brother.

How on earth did my mother find out about me joining the school?

I can bet a million Wonkz that my father wouldn't have discussed it with her.

"How is it not up to standards according to you?!" Charles barked at him.

"It allows dogs like you..." He smiled before looking back at me "...the Wizard tower has started a private school and I'm sure you'll be able to enter without trouble, the best part is that I'll be one of your lecturers." He grinned, puffing out his chest with pride.

"How is that better than entering a school where all of us graduated from, it is a family tradition." Charles huffed into his cup.

"She is better than this family." he grinned, giving me a wink.

"When will you take me then, Brother?" I grinned, leaning forward in excitement.

This would also be a good opportunity and if I had to weigh my options, maybe the better one. If I leave with Edgard, then I don't need to be a part of this whole story. It will play out calmly like any other boring romance and I will still be able to live my life on my own terms. If I do have any gifts and I graduate from this academy, then this father of mine won't be able to force me to marry.

"That won't be necessary, your application to the Skolard Academy has been approved." my father spoke up behind me.

"I believe she will do better at the Wizards Tower, father." Edgard stood up and walked toward me, placing his hands on my shoulder.

"She has already been accepted and that's final." he sat down at the head of the table just as mother joined us.

"Then retrack that damn application. I don't want my sister to play around with mice!"

"Edgard calm down!" mother hissed.

I looked up at my brother and placed my hand on his, he looked down at me before taking the seat next to mine. Father and Edgard looked more alike with dark blond hair and golden eyes. If I had to imagine what my father would look like when he was younger, I would just look at Edgard. He leaned closer and pulled me to him, he patted my head as he grinned at mother.

"I am very calm mom, I'm just taking my little Kitty with me."

"She will not be leaving with you. I won't see her when you take her." she hissed.

" You're just scared that she will love me more, dear mom." he hummed.

"Can you please release me brother, I need to breathe." I laughed as I patted his hand.

"She will not be leaving with you, Edgard, she will be joining me at Skolard Academy." Charles laughed.

"When did you ever slightly care about her well being!" Edgard growled.

"I have always cared!"

"Then why was she in a coma for half a year?"

I felt my blood turn cold as I watched everyone's reaction. My mother had tears running down her cheeks as she looked back at me. The fear of losing her daughter still seems to haunt her and I have a feeling that it will not disappear soon. Maybe that is why she would rather have me taught at home than to be sent to the academy. Charles sat back down as he frowned, it looked like he wasn't able to say anything back. But still he looked at me as if he needed to tell me something. My father, on the other hand, just sat and stared at us, not moving or showing any emotions.

"Please excuse me." I spoke up with a smile and stood up to leave.

"Running away as always I see." Charles growled.

I closed my eyes as I calmed myself down. I didn't want to start a fight with him. I thought that everything was going well since I hadn't bothered him these last few days. I thought that they didn't even care, since no one came to make sure that I was doing fine. No I'm wrong, my dear mother stood next to me and now my dear Edgard also. I felt a hand clasping mine and I looked down into those golden eyes. I truly do wish that he could just take me with him, but it would not be now. There were a few things I had to sort out before I leave, that means I had to go to that academy and live through this story so that a few people meant to be happy can meet each other. When that story comes to an end I will take my bags and leave. That is a personal bet I made with myself and one that I am not planning on losing.

"Dear Brother, I do have a prior appointment that mother has arranged for me and I do wish not to be late. Regarding the academy...I will attend Skolard as that was what I requested. Now I really do need to leave." I smiled at Edgard as I spoke to everyone at the table.

" Then I will escort you to your destination." Edgard nodded before standing up.

He didn't say any farewell as he held his arm out to me. I took hold of that pillar with a tight grip and walked next to him. I leaned my head on his shoulder when we disappeared from their sight, loving the feeling of having someone on my side.

"You don't have to go Kitty, I can protect you." he complained softly.

"I don't plan on sticking there that long, I'll go and get everything settled before calling you. It was my dream to attend the same academy that Father did."

"The Tower is much better than that rat nest."

"Then give me a year at least. If I can't get out of there within a year, then you can come and fetch me."

"You have changed a lot."

We stopped in front of the house and I turned to look at Edgard, really look at this lovable person. He stood a head taller than me with his golden locks being held back with an old lint, his blue eyes looked at me as if he could give me the world right there and then. I smiled brightly and took a step closer, placing my small hand against his cheek. His golden skin looked more radiant against my pale one and for the first time I actually wished that I had the same skin.

"Is it a bad thing?" I whispered, my heart beating fast as if it was afraid of being left behind.

He let out a chuckle as he scooped me up in a bear hug, spinning me around. I couldn't help but laugh with him. A part of me hoped that he would take me as his real sister, as I accepted him as my own brother.

"It's not a bad thing my Kitty, it just shows how much you have grown. I'm afraid that this radiant side will attract the wrong things, so afraid that I really wish that you wouldn't be allowed to leave the house. You don't know how those idiot knights of Father's talk about you or how those friends of mothers plan on taking you as their daughter..."

" But for now I am engaged to the Prince." I shrugged, not really caring how anyone would see me.

"That rat doesn't even know what he has, if you only knew..." he shook his head before leaning it against mine "...let me just take you away from all this pain my little kitty."

"I can't let you do that yet, there are still a few things I do have to settle." I smiled sweetly, cupping his face in my palms.

"You said I had to give you a year." he stated, staring straight into my soul.

I nodded as it felt like someone had stolen my breath away, the smile he gave me left the sun to shame when he took my hand and led me into the house.

Yes, I'll give myself this year to put this story to an end and say Farewell to the past.
