"Intruders!"
The mans eyes widened. "Ava, we have to hide. Now!"
He pulled her behind a large tapestry hanging on the wall, barely concealing them from view. They held their breath as the guards entered the chamber, their eyes scanning the room.
"They can't have gone far," one of the guards growled. "Search everywhere!"
They exchanged a worried glance, knowing their hiding spot wouldn't hold for long. Suddenly, the tapestry was yanked aside, and they were dragged out by the guards, their grip unyielding.
"Found them!" one guard shouted triumphantly. "Take them to the Lord. He'll want to deal with these intruders personally."
They were roughly shoved forward by the guards, their hands bound with glowing, enchanted ropes that burned against their skin. The guards led them through a series of winding corridors until they emerged into a vast hall, its high ceilings lost in shadow. Flickering torches cast an eerie glow on the stone walls, creating dancing patterns of light and dark.
At the far end of the hall, a grand throne made of twisted, dark wood loomed. Seated upon it was a man. Beside him stood another figure, a man who seemed entirely unfazed by the commotion, his demeanor calm and almost bored. He flicked his wrist, and the guards immediately grabbed the man, dragging him away despite his protests. Ava's heart raced as she watched her companion being taken away, but she held her ground, determined to see this through.
"Take him to the holding cells," The man on throne commanded, his voice calm but authoritative. "We will deal with him later."
As the doors slammed shut behind them, Ava turned her attention back to the man sitting on the throne she took a moment to observe him closely. His presence commanding attention and respect. He is not traditionally handsome, but there is something undeniably magnetic about him. His chiseled features are sharp and angular, giving his face a harsh, almost predatory look. His jet-black hair falls in unruly waves around his face, adding to his dark and brooding aura.
His most striking feature is his hazel eyes. They are a blend of green and gold, intense and penetrating, capable of seeing through to a person's very soul. His skin is a deep olive, marked by faint scars that hint at past battles and hardships. His build is muscular and lean.
The commander leaned forward, his voice dripping with malice. "You, Ava, are a
curiosity. A human who can communicate with animals. We've been searching for you.
And now, you'll make a perfect addition to our... collection."
"Lord Malakai what are your orders?" The man beside the throne asked, Ava became even more frightened as she watched his smirk. Ava attempted to sound strong and brave, but her voice emerged faint and trembling. "Let me go! What do you want with me? Why are you searching for me? You want my powers, right? But you will never have them! Try me, you bad man."
The tension in the room escalated as the commander's smirk widened. Lord Malakai’s eyes narrowed, his gaze fixed on Ava with an intensity that made her skin crawl. The commander leaned forward, his voice dripping with malice. “Oh, we don’t just want your powers, Ava. We want to exploit them, to harness the secrets of the animal kingdom for our own gain. And as for you... well, you’ll make a fine addition to our collection of rare specimens.”
He snapped his fingers, and the guards closed in, their cold, unforgiving eyes devoid of mercy. Ava’s heart raced as she realized the true horror of her situation. She was trapped, at the mercy of these ruthless creatures, with no escape in sight. The man seated upon the imposing throne issued a commanding decree, his voice resonating with authority as he ordered the guards to escort Ava to one of the dimly lit chambers within the headquarters.
As Ava was forcefully dragged away from the hall, her heart pounding with fear, she desperately called out to Vultures for help, her voice echoing through the corridors, a plea for salvation in the midst of chaos.
The vultures swooped down, distracting the guards. In the chaos, one of the guards moved away. Seeing this, Ava took the opportunity to run. She ran as fast as she could, and to her good luck, the door was open. She managed to leave the room. Ava burst through the door, her heart pounding in her chest. She found herself in a long, dark corridor, the walls lined with cobweb-covered portraits. The vulture flew overhead, leading the way as she sprinted down the hall. Footsteps echoed behind her, the guards shouting in pursuit.
Ava’s breath came in ragged gasps, her legs aching as she pushed herself to run faster. Suddenly, the vulture dove, talons extended, and swooped through a small window, shattering the glass. Ava followed, leaping through the opening just as the guards closed in. She landed hard on the grass outside, rolling to absorb the impact. As she looked up, she saw the owl perched on a nearby branch, watching her with wise eyes. They were outside the fairy stronghold, but the journey to safety was far from over...
Now outside the headquarters, Ava hid herself in the grass as she was exhausted and couldn’t run further. She called upon the local wildlife for assistance. As she caught her breath, she felt the presence of the surrounding animals, ready to aid her in her next move. The owl perched beside her, its soft hooting a gentle reassurance. As she caught her breath after a narrow escape, Ava gazed up at the starry sky, the moon casting a silver glow over the landscape. An owl settled beside her, its soft hooting a gentle lullaby. She felt a strange sense of calm wash over her, as if the natural world was conspiring to protect her. The grasses swayed gently in the breeze, hiding her from view.
For a moment, she forgot about the fairies, the man, and the golden amulet. All that mattered was the peacefulness of this hidden glade. But as her eyelids drooped, she remembered the commander's sinister smile. She knew she couldn't stay here for long. With newfound determination, Ava sat up, her eyes scanning the horizon for a haven. She started to find a safe place to hide but then thought about the man still inside and the fairy who was also captured by the commander. She began to walk away from the scary place, thinking she first needed to make a plan to save them.
She was sure the commander would not kill them because he needed Ava for his next step. After many hurdles in the forest, she found a lonely cottage deep within the woods, aided by her abilities.
A wise decision!
Ava approached the cottage cautiously, her senses on high alert. The thatched roof and wooden door seemed sturdy enough, but she detected a strange energy emanating from within. Her animal instincts told her that the cottage was abandoned, yet something lingered. She pushed open the creaky door, and a warm light spilled out, inviting her in. The interior was cozy, with a fire crackling in the hearth. Ava's eyes adjusted to the dim light, and she spotted a figure slumped in a chair, shrouded in shadows. Her heart raced as she approached, her hand extended in a calming gesture. Suddenly, the figure stirred, and Ava saw the man's weary face, his eyes locking onto hers with a mix of relief and gratitude.
"Eryndor!"
