THAT NIGHT
Aiden promised his girlfriend he would be back after running an errand. They had just finished their dinner when he left. Now it was 10pm yet still he made no appearance. Tired from the day’s work, she went to bed first hoping he would come back before midnight.
For the past two years, she has been having nightmares at the exact same time - 12:15am. She realised it was so after she made a conscious effort to check the time immediately she wakes up from those nightmares. It was always the same. She hasn’t been able to tell anyone -yet. She hoped Aiden would be there today to wake her up quickly.
MEANWHILE
10:45pm, A&C Club
“Are you here alone?” A random lady appeared from the bustling crowd and asked him. He paid no attention to her instead he has his focus on someone else. She followed his lead and found another man, probably in his early thirties having a drink with a girl.
“Are you looking at her or him?”
“Leave me alone.” He finally responded to her. She hissed. He glared at her scaring the life out of her.
Aiden kept his gaze on the couple sitting far off from him. He was patiently waiting for the guy to leave the table so he could speak to him. An opportunity arrived before long, a waiter mistakenly dropped a bottle of wine on his shirt. In anger, he slapped the waiter even after apologising to him knowing it was not his fault.
“I can get it cleaned for you.” The waiter solemnly said.
“Don’t let me……..” The waiter thinking he was about to hit him again flinched when he saw him lift his hand in the air. Instead, he was taking off his shirt. The girls around began squealing. The lady he came with became angry at the sudden outburst of those girls.
“Shit! This guy is ruining my chance.” Aiden said to himself. He signalled for the waiter to come to him when he walked away from the scene. As obediently as his work obliged him to be, he walked over to him.
“How can I help you?” The waiter asked as kindly as he could. He wore no face of distraught for having experience an unpleasant situation today.
“Are you okay? Do you need help?” Aiden asked him, concerned. It was truly a sincere question. He had no other intention of asking him except he had the chance of ruining his plan.
“I’m okay. Thanks for asking.” The waiter answered. “I have to leave now if you have no need for me to attend,” he continued.
……………
Few minutes later
11:15pm
“Aaaaaaaahhhhhh!!! Help! Help! Someone is dead!” An unknown woman yelled.
The crowd gathered, the music stopped, the bouncers ensuring no one leaves the venue. The police was called. “Who is he?” Someone asked from the crowd. “I don’t know,” another one answered.
“Why does he look familiar? He looks like the guy who slapped the waiter some time ago.” Another voice said.
“Where is that waiter?” Everyone suddenly became curious about the waiter. Did he kill him by any chance because of what he did to him? Or it was karma that caught up to him.
