CHIMERA

Next day.

Emily groaned and opened her eyes, she stood up and walked towards her tent's entrance, and slowly walked outside. She was expecting to see the students shouting and laughing as usual, but last night's incident had made them mute.

All eyes were on her when she came out of her tent, "What is going on?" she questioned.

Although the soul occupying Emily's body is older than the student standing in front of her, last night's incident taught her to be cautious.

She was an assassin, not a Winchester. Fighting and killing human beings were her job, but something supernatural wasn't what she specialized in.

"Two students ran away last night." The same Asian girl from last night walked towards her with a smile on her face, she handed Emily a plate of food, still smiling.

"Thanks."

Emily collected the plate and walked towards Jordan, "How many students came on this vacation?"

Without waiting for a second, Jordan replied, "About fifty students, since we combined two classes."

Emily nodded, "How many died?" she questioned again.

"Three died the day before yesterday, three died last night and now we have two runaways, so we are only left with only forty-two students," he explained.

Emily looked around, "Where's Sandy?"

"Here!"

Sandy raised her hand, she was standing beside a pale-skinned student. Because of her being small, she wasn't seen by Emily.

"Come here," Emily commanded.

Sandy walked towards her and sat beside her, "Stay where I can see you." Emily smiled at her.

Although she wasn't specialized in fighting off anything supernatural, she was still a fighter and she wouldn't let anything happen to people she loved or people she didn't love, since they were innocent.

"That thing last night is known as Hollowgast, a creature that feeds on human eyes and sometimes the brain," Emily explained.

"We should stick together, forget I was once a bully or whatever it is I was, just always listen to me and follow my lead, I promise to save us all..... I don't know how, but I will try." Emily smiled at the students.

She could see almost all of them nodding, and although they didn't trust that she could save them, she knew lots of things about the forest.

"Go now."

Emily heard the same voice as yesterday, she stood up and, without wasting time, commanded the students to pack.

Twenty minutes later.

The students were on their way to an unknown destination, but with one thought on their minds, 'To get home." But the island had other plans for them.

"Can we camp here?" Emily muttered to the voice.

"No, not save.... walk further." the voice replied.

"Who are you?" Emily muttered. She didn't want the students to think she was going crazy.

"Me is you, you are me, we are one body, soul, and heart," the voice replied.

"Creepy," Emily muttered.

For almost three hours, the students were still walking. Although they were tired, they didn't complain or stop walking.

Suddenly, they heard a roar, a hiss, and a bleat. It sounded at the same time which caused the forest to tremble.

"Run now, don't look back, run forward.... danger danger danger danger!!!"

"Ahhh." Emily held her two ears in pain, but she had no time to rebuke the voice. She turned and saw how the student stopped walking and was looking around in fear, then she yelled, "Run!!"

She grabbed the hand of Sandy who was beside her and also the hand of the Asian girl standing at her left side and ran.

"Left!" the voice cried.

Emily turned left, still running. The students were also following her lead without stopping.

A young girl in the last row tripped and fell, but no one seemed to notice her, everyone was running for their lives without looking back.

Emily saw an old building in front of her. She tried passing it since she didn't hear the voice telling her to go inside, but the voice yelled at her, causing her ear to bleed.

"No!! Inside, now!! Danger at night!"

She didn't care about the hurt she felt, she held the two hands she was holding tightly as she ran inside the building, "Inside now!!" she yelled at the students.

When all the students were already inside the building, she turned to Jordan and commanded, "Count them."

It took the GYM teacher a minute to count the students, and when he was done he walked towards Emily, who was still panting, "Forty."

Emily nodded, they lost two students while they were running.

"Emily, your ear is bleeding!" Sandy exclaimed in horror. She rushed towards her and tore off a piece of clothes from her top and used it to clean off the blood.

Emily looked at Sandy and smiled "Thanks." Sandy smiled and nodded.

Feeling apologist the voice murmured, "Sorry." It didn't mean to scream like that.

"It is okay," Emily muttered.

"What?" Sandy raised her eyes and looked at her.

"Nothing." Emily smiled and replied, she stood up walked towards the window, and looked outside. A big monster was standing in front of them, still roaring, hissing, and bleating, but it didn't come inside.

"Ahh!"

"OMG."

"What is that?"

"Jesus Christ!"

Everyone began to murmur, they were looking at the other windows, and seeing the monster outside terrified them.

It has the head of a lion, with a goat's head in the middle of its back, and with a tail that ends in a snake's head.

"Chimera."

"Chimera."

Emily and the voice said simultaneously, but the voice the student heard was only Emily's, so they turned their attention to her.

Emily looked at the curiosity in the students' eyes, even the GYM teacher's eyes full of curiosity didn't escape her.

"It is a Chimera, don't you guys know what that is?" she questioned.

She saw almost everybody nodding their heads, "Unbelievable, what on earth are you guys learning from your school? I learned about this in my....." She didn't complete her sentence.

She suddenly remembered she learned about this kind of creature inside a museum when she killed the owner of the museum during one of her missions. She accidentally came across the sculpture of the same creature outside the old building they were staying in.

Because of her curiosity, she researched about the creature and found what it was.

She cleared her throat, "Anyways.... A Chimera is essentially a single organism that is made up of cells from two or more individuals, it contains two sets of DNA, with the code to make two separate organisms."

She looked at the students and sighed, "Just know it's a hybrid, cause it ain't only one. Jesus Christ you guys are supposed to know what I'm talking about!" she yelled.

"Just go to sleep." She turned and tried looking around the building, "This place is safe, right?" she murmured.

"Yes, it is protected by a spell of old... stay till morning."

"What kind of place is this?" She murmured again, moving away from the students.

"A temple, used in making requests."

"Then can I make a request?" Emily asked.

"No! Bad temple, sacrifice needed," the voice cried.

Understanding what the voice meant, Emily nodded and went back to the students. They removed everything dirty on the ground and lay their blanket on the ground.

That night, none of them slept because of the roar, hiss, and bleat of the creature outside and none of them knew why the creature didn't come in.

They were almost about to sleep when they heard a scream outside, and at the same time, the monster's voice wasn't heard again.
