Alex pulled me behind him and growled. "Who the hell are you?"
The stranger laughed slowly and walked closer, stepping between the wolves who were watching us, alert to our every move.
"Your Majesty, the King, what an honor to be in your presence, Alec Ashnoth. Blessed with the she-wolf with the startling eyes. It's a shame you won't be able to claim her as your Luna. Someone else already has his eye on her."
"What the hell are you talking about? Who are you?"
"Allow me to introduce myself, I am Tyron Skave. I'll keep the rest to myself for now. How about you hand over the she-wolf, and we leave this all in the past."
Alec laughed as he unbuttoned his shirt. "You really have some nerve, Tyron Skave. I've never heard of you, but I'm sure you've heard of me." His shirt fell to the ground, and I saw his back tense. "You and your little wolfies are no match for me."
"We know. Do you think we came unprepared?" He raised his hand, and from behind a tree, a man dressed as a warrior appeared with a bow and shot an arrow at Alec. The air caught in my throat. To everyone's surprise, Alec caught it in midair before it reached him, looked at the tip, and a black liquid dripped from it. "Wolfsbane, very clever, I'll give you that. But it seems you don't know enough about me." Alec broke the arrow in two and threw it on the floor. The man looked at him, surprised and annoyed. He made a sign, and all the wolves charged towards us. The two of us shifted quickly, and the fight began. Bites and claws came and went, a bloodbath all around us. I trusted in the power and strength of my mate. I focused on killing every wolf I saw. I killed and killed, and more kept appearing. These wolves were no rogues. From their height and fighting skills, it was obvious that these were pack warriors. My healing ability wasn't like any other, but I couldn't heal myself in this jet-black form. I kept fighting with blood pouring from every wound they inflicted on me. Suddenly, a whistle distracted me. Many archers appeared and shot arrows at Alec, all of them impacting his fur. His wolf let out a roar that shook the earth. They all charged at him. They were hurting my mate, and I could feel his pain piercing the bond and settling throughout my body.
"Azula, where are you?"
I heard Jace's worried voice in my head. "We're at the Red River. We're surrounded. How are things going over there?"
"Suddenly they all retreated, Azula. I think they're heading that way."
"Azula." Aron's voice joined the link. "My princess, where are you? Are you okay?"
"We're at the river. We're surrounded. I need reinforcements."
"We're on our way, Azula. Hold on."
The link was cut off as I felt fangs sink into my hind leg and others into my stomach. I let out a yelp of pain.
"Luz, you have to hold on."
"Azula, they're hurting our mate. We have to do something."
"We have to trust in his strength, Luz. If we go towards him, they will all go towards him, and we'll put him in more danger."
"I feel his pain, Azula. I need to heal him."
"Now's not the time, Luz. Fight."
My wolf lunged furiously at the idiots who were attacking me and ripped their necks until they snapped. Another whistle blew, and thousands of arrows were shot at me. Before they arrived, Jace's black wolf covered me, and all the arrows hit him, causing him to howl in pain. I saw Aron and the others join the battle. The bloodbath spread. Too many wolves were falling. I saw them all as if in slow motion, suffering and bleeding because of me, because these bastards wanted to take me. They knew, they knew about me, about my power, and they wanted to claim it for themselves, no matter how many lives were lost along the way. I saw Jace fighting and bleeding in front of me, trying to protect me. His legs were faltering. I saw my mate bathed in blood, fighting five wolves at once. I could feel his pain in my gut. Beyond him were Aron and Elliot, Alec's beta and gamma. I saw some silver she-wolves fighting fiercely. I could feel it; they were Alec's sisters. Everyone I cared about was fighting and suffering for me. There was nothing left to do. There was no point in hiding the obvious anymore. If they thought they could come and face a sacred she-wolf, then I would give them the satisfaction.
I closed my eyes and focused all my power. The ground began to shake. I opened my eyes, and the fighting had stopped. Everyone was looking at me. Black and gold flames covered me, making me growl in pain. When they finally ceased, all my wounds were healed. My coat shone a pure white. I saw Jace's wolf fall before my eyes and shift, his body bruised and deeply cut. His eyes looked at me. "Azula." My name left his mouth like a sigh, and rage welled up inside me.
"Submit." Everyone dropped to their knees, trembling under my command. I walked towards the idiot who had started this whole mess. His head rose, and he looked at me, maddened.
"Yes!! Yes!! The sacred she-wolf, a she-wolf with the power to make all the wolves in the world submit." He shouted madly, and I growled at him. "Silence, you will not speak unless I tell you to." He looked at me surprised and crazed. "You thought you could come here and threaten my people and take me with you? How absurd. Did you really believe that you and your pathetic warriors could challenge the Luna Queen and not die trying?"
His eyes widened in fear. He tried to speak, but the words wouldn't come out. I shoved him backward with my paws, stepping on his chest as he trembled on the ground. "Now you will tell me... who sent you?"
"It was him, the man of darkness, the damned Alpha, Glorius Ganver."
The damned Alpha, what the hell...
"So, the damned Alpha. You're the damned Alpha's dirty dog. The damned Glorius Ganver thinks he can defy me? It's a shame you won't live to see him die." I slammed my paws hard into his body, and it began to burn with black flames. His screams echoed in the silence of the forest. He screamed and screamed until his whole body turned to ashes.
