I went up to my room and sat down. I put on some decent clothes and left my house.
"Alec, are you awake?"
"Yes, my moon, are you coming already?" I heard my partner's voice in my head and my heart started to race. I was terrified of how he might react.
"No, we can meet at the river near the pack house. I need to talk to you."
"Yes, of course, my moon. What happened?"
"I want to tell you something, my king. I'm on my way there, we'll meet there."
"I'm going."
The link was cut off and I ran at full speed to the river. I arrived and sat on the ground watching the river, its reddish waters reminding me of all the days that had passed here with my friends, all the days we raced here and jumped into the river together. It felt like yesterday.
I heard the sound of branches breaking and saw Alec arrive. I got up and ran to him and hugged him. He lifted me in his arms and kissed me, one of those memory-erasing kisses, his hands squeezing my buttocks, making me forget why we came here.
"Okay, okay, Alec, I need to tell you something."
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry, I've missed you so much."
I climbed out of his arms and took him to where I was and we sat down. Alec stroked my hair. "What do you want to tell me, precious? I'm listening."
"What I'm going to tell you is something I've never told anyone and honestly I intended to pretend it never happened, but it did and I need to tell you before it all gets out of hand."
Alec looked at me in silence, waiting for me to speak. "Well, I... As you know, I grew up with Aron, Elaine, Elliot, and Jace. We were best friends for as long as I can remember. We did everything together, we always came to this river when we were kids." I looked at the river and smiled nostalgically. "But everything changed when I turned 18. That day was my first transformation. I ran with Aron and suddenly a scent invaded my nostrils, my mate." Alec looked confused. "I ran after the scent of my destined mate and I came here, and here he was... Jace Stronghold."
Jace and Elaine had been dating since they were 17 and I was 16. They had vowed to choose each other over their destined mates. When I saw him I knew he would reject me and I accepted it... I was born to be the Luna Queen of the Alpha King, your Luna." He pulled me toward him and rested me against his chest.
"Forgive me for not telling you sooner. I was afraid, so afraid that you would be upset or that you wouldn't love me anymore because I was rejected and..."
"Shh, don't say that, precious. Azula Rosseltod, I, Alec Ashnoth, Alpha King of the world's packs, accept you as my partner and my Luna Queen." His face came between my neck and I felt his fangs pierce my skin. Thousands of feelings collided in my chest, but only one made me cry: acceptance. He accepted me with my painful past and my twisted present, he loved me. I reached for his lips and kissed him desperately, making him fall backwards. His hands squeezed my hips as we kissed. In these moments the world didn't matter, everything around us didn't exist, it was just him and me. I pulled him to me and he sat down with me on his lap.
"Tell me, my beautiful moon, do you accept me? Will you choose me?"
"It was always you, my Alpha. I, Azula Rosseltod, Beta of the New Moon pack, accept you, Alec Ashnoth, as my mate and my Alpha King." I sank my fangs into his neck and felt our souls becoming one. I heard the gasp that escaped his lips. We were one, his emotions dancing with mine. I loved him. I leaned closer to his face and kissed his lips. "I love you, my Alpha."
"I love you more, my beautiful queen." We stayed together, breathing each other's breath.
"I have to tell you something else."
"Something else? You're full of secrets, my beautiful moon."
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. This is the last thing and this is something important. I'm not supposed to tell anyone ever, but you're my mate, I love you and I trust you."
"You can trust me, honey. I will keep your secrets and I will protect you with my life. You have nothing to fear."
I took a breath, preparing for what I was going to say. His eyes looked at me softly, waiting for me to confess my biggest secret.
"I'm a Sacred Wolf, the first in a thousand years."
After saying that we were silent. He looked at me and I looked at him. Neither of us said anything. When Alec opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out of his lips, I heard a twig snap as the link opened and I heard Elliot's voice.
"We're under attack!"
His shout put me on alert. I got up from Alec's arms and he stood up as wolves appeared all around us. I was looking at all of them, growling, when Alec pulled me towards him. A man dressed only in pants came out from behind a tree and looked at us with a chilling smile.
"Azula Rosseltod, the future Luna Queen. It wasn't easy to find you. I have to admit they hid you very well, but here you are. I found you."
