Episode 17

I went up to the room and Alec was asleep again, I lay down in his arms and he held me close.

"My queen, you took so long."

"I'm sorry, I was coming up but... Elaine and Jace were fighting."

"I can imagine, it won't be easy to get over something like this." I just sighed.

"They'll get over it."

We were silent and went back to sleep. The next morning I woke up to Alec kissing my neck, my face, his kisses sent shivers down my spine, I moved to the side and he kissed my lips.

"Good morning, my moon."

"Good morning, my alpha."

His hands went under my clothes and caressed my skin. "I still can't believe you're here, that I found my mate, the wait has been long, but it was worth it, you're so beautiful, my sweet moon, I want to take you with me already, I want to make you my wife, my moon, my queen."

"I want it too, my alpha, I desire it with all my heart."

He pulled away from me and got up. "Let's have breakfast, honey, I've sent a group of warriors to come with my beta, I want to solve this rogue problem quickly so I can take you with me."

"Okay, my alpha, let's go." I got out of bed and went to freshen up, got dressed and went downstairs, you could hear shouting, it seemed Elaine and Jace were fighting again, we reached them and they were both yelling, the children were on one side of the room looking at them scared, this was getting out of control.

"Enough." Neither of them seemed to listen, they kept yelling, talking nonsense. "Stop fighting already." I spoke louder and neither of them reacted, they both kept yelling, I saw Jace about to reject Elaine, what the hell was wrong with them, why weren't they thinking of their children?

"Enough." I shouted and my command came out of me making them back off. "Stop fighting, don't you even think about your children, you can't be so damn selfish, damn it."

They both looked up ashamed and surprised that I had made them back off.

"Azula... I..."

"Silence, both of you shut the fuck up and go have breakfast, and when you want to talk about your fucking problems it will be alone and away from the children."

They both fell silent, I walked over to the children and took their hands. "Let's have breakfast, my children." I walked towards the dining room with the children followed by Alec, I helped them to sit down and went to the kitchen, the maids were all scared.

"Please serve breakfast now."

"As you command, beta."

I left the kitchen and went to sit with my mate, Elaine and Jace were already seated, they served the food and we ate in silence.

"Alpha Jace, I have sent for my beta and some warriors from my pack, they will be arriving this afternoon."

"Very well, my King, I will notify the border to let them through."

After lunch, I invited the children to play in the garden, we went out to play, ran and played all afternoon, suddenly a contingent of black tinted cars arrived at the entrance of the house, Alec went out the door with Jace, the children wanted to see so we approached, a tall man with brown hair and a strong build got out of the first car followed by two other sturdy guys and approached the entrance.

"My King, it's a pleasure to see you again."

"Guys, I'm glad you're here, let me introduce you to Alpha Jace Stronghold, alpha of the New Moon pack."

"Welcome to my territory."

"Nice to meet you, Alpha Jace, we hope to be of help with the current problem."

Alec turned to me. "My queen, come here." I walked towards them and stood beside him, the three boys' eyes fell on me, looking me up and down.

"My moon, these are my beta Daniel, my gamma Lacke and his brother Don."

"Nice to meet you, gentlemen, I'm Azula Rosseltod, beta of the New Moon pack."

"And my beautiful Luna Queen." Alec hugged me and kissed my forehead, I looked at him smiling at his display of affection, my whole skin tingling at his touch.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, my queen, we are at your service." They all bared their necks in submission, it felt extremely strange, but I suppose I had to get used to it.

"Thank you."

"Well, come in, let's go to my office."

"Are you coming?" Alec looked at me questioningly.

"No, I would like to go to my parents' house today, I miss them, I know you'll be busy today so I'll see you tomorrow, honey."

Alec's face twisted and he sighed. "Okay, I understand, then we'll have breakfast together tomorrow."

"Of course, my king." I kissed his sweet lips and Alec pressed me against him, ravaging my lips like only he knew how, making my heart beat wildly, the kiss lingered for a while until he let go, he rested his forehead against mine. "I'll miss you, my moon."

"And I you, my alpha."

Alec turned and left and I went to the children who had stayed in the garden, Elaine was there with them, I approached her and sat down beside her.

"Azula, I... I'm so sorry, you've had to get involved in our fights more than once and it's so embarrassing."

I turned to her and took her hands. "Elaine, I understand that you're both upset, hurt, but you have to understand that these are the consequences of the decisions you made and that your children don't have to pay for it, you decided to choose each other and you chose to have your children, love them and take care of them, it's your duty to take care of them even from yourselves."

She sighed wearily. "I know, I know, but it's so difficult, Azula, out there, there's someone the moon goddess chose for me and I... I didn't choose him, I rejected him before even giving him a chance, I didn't stop to think how many people would suffer because of our feelings, the pack is distrustful, people look at me badly, they judge me, I don't know if I did the right thing, out there, there's someone who was born to be Jace's mate, to be the luna of this pack and I took her place, I took what the moon goddess made for her, I feel like shit, the worst part is that I think Jace knew her and never told me, he never talked about it and I don't know what to do, this morning I told him to tell me and he went crazy, I'm scared Azula, I feel so guilty, I feel like this is a punishment from the moon goddess."

Seeing Elaine suffering like this, I only thought that I didn't want her to know the truth for anything in the world, if she was feeling guilty for someone she didn't know, how would she feel if she knew that I was the one Jace had rejected?

That night I went back home, had dinner with my family and slept with Aron, Lisa had gone to the pack house to greet the people from her pack who had arrived and were staying for dinner with them, I was sleeping peacefully in my brother's arms when the doorbell rang loudly, someone was knocking on the door, I looked at the time on the bedside clock and it was three in the morning, who was knocking on the door at this hour, I got up and Aron stirred awake, I left the room and went downstairs and my mother was opening the door.

"Luna? What are you doing here at this hour? Is everything okay?"

"Is Azula here? I need to talk to Azula." Her eyes looked at my mother desperately and when she saw me she ran towards me and took me by the arms.

"Tell me it's not true, Azula."

"What's going on, Elaine, what's wrong?"

"Tell me it's not true, please, that things didn't happen like that, that I didn't..." A sob escaped her lips and Elaine fell at my feet, clinging to my legs, crying.

"Elaine, for God's sake, get up, what's going on?"

"Tell me it's not true, that he didn't reject you for me, that you weren't his mate, tell me it's all a lie."

The weight of her words settled in my chest, one of my biggest fears was coming true, Elaine knew.

I knelt down and took her hands. "What is it, Elaine, what's wrong?"
