Episode 11

I don't know when I fell asleep, but I woke up in the morning in the arms of my partner, his scent filling the room. I looked at his relaxed face, small sighs escaping his lips. I leaned in and kissed his forehead, his nose, his cheeks, his lips, his jaw, down his neck, his bare chest, and I kissed him there and rested on him, listening to his heartbeat. I was calm and at peace when the mind-link opened, Elaine's broken voice waking me from the tranquility of my partner's arms.

"Azula."

"Good morning, my moon."

"I'm sorry to wake you up at this hour, but..."

She fell silent, and I waited for her to speak, but she said nothing.

"What do you need, my moon? I'm already awake."

"Are you at the pack house?"

"Yes, I stayed to sleep with my mate, moon. I hope it's not a problem."

"No, no, no, you're never a problem, Azula. Will you have breakfast with us? The children have been quite restless since yesterday. I need you here. Could you... come?"

"Yes, of course. I'll be there shortly, moon."

"Okay, thank you, Azula."

The mind-link closed, and I was about to get up from my mate's arms when he pulled me towards him.

"Where is my queen going so early?"

"My moon wants us to have breakfast with her."

His eyes met mine with a sharp look. "She is not your moon anymore. You are her queen, Azula."

"I am not her queen yet. I swore loyalty to Elaine five years ago as my moon. I cannot erase that overnight just because you are my mate. Do you understand that?"

"So? Should I mark you so you understand who you are now?"

"I am Azula Rosseltod, Beta of the New Moon pack, and the Alpha King's mate. Of course, I understand."

"You are not Azula Rosseltod, Luna Queen. That is who you are now. And when we solve this strange rogue attack, we will leave, and I will crown you as my Luna, the Luna Queen of the Alpha King."

I approached him and kissed his lips slowly. "Well, until that happens, I am still the Beta of New Moon and also Elaine Wood's best friend, so today I want to have breakfast with her and her precious children. Will you indulge me, my king?"

"If you ask me like that, how can I refuse?"

I laughed and got up from his arms. I went to the bathroom, washed up, and when I came out, I remembered that I had none of my clothes here. My clothes had been torn to shreds when I shifted, and now I was wearing a long shirt that was definitely my mate's since it had his delicious scent.

"Is something wrong, my queen?"

"I have nothing to wear. I'm not going to have breakfast with them in this shirt."

"You look beautiful, but I definitely don't want you going to breakfast with all those people in that shirt."

"I'll ask Elaine for something."

I opened the mind-link, and Elaine answered me quickly.

"Are you coming, Azula?"

"Yes, but I don't have any clothes here. Could you send me something, moon, please?"

"Oh yes, of course. I'm sorry, I hadn't thought of that." She laughed. "I'll send something now."

"Thank you."

The mind-link closed, and I saw Alec already dressed. He seemed thoughtful. He looked at me and spoke. "I didn't know that Alpha Jace and his Luna were not destined mates."

"No one in the pack knew."

"I noticed everyone seemed quite surprised while she lamented in front of everyone. No one did anything, but you did."

He looked at me as if analyzing everything, and obviously he would come to that conclusion. "You knew. You knew they were not destined mates."

I remained silent, not knowing what to answer.

"Well, if she's your best friend, I guess she would have told you. The children said that you, the Alpha, and the Luna were best friends. But the way you treat them, how tense you get when they're both around... you don't seem like best friends."

"Well... we stopped being friends six years ago. It's been quite a while."

"Will you tell me why?"

I sighed, feeling like everything I kept inside was starting to weigh on me more than I thought. I really wanted to tell him, but I shut my mouth.

"I wouldn't want to talk about that now." Just then, there was a knock at the door. Alec got up and went to answer it. He came back with clothes. I went to the bathroom and quickly put them on. It was a blue summer dress and sandals. I wasn't used to dressing like this; I had always been an outstanding warrior. I normally always wore training clothes, pants, boots, shirts that covered me up quite a bit. I felt naked in these clothes. I went to the bathroom mirror and combed my hair. I did a quick braid and left the bathroom. Alec turned and stared at me, mesmerized.

"I don't know if I want everyone to see you in those clothes. Why don't we just have breakfast here, you and I alone?"

I approached him, laughing, and hugged him. "I want to see the children. Let's go; we've made them wait too long."

I pulled him by the arm, and we left the room. We walked down the hall and down the stairs. Downstairs, the children were playing with their toys while Elaine sat on one side of the furniture and Jace on the other. Their faces looked so uncomfortable, as if it bothered them to be in the same room together.

"Good morning," Alec called out to them, and they both stood up to greet us.

"Good morning, Alpha King, Azula."

"Good morning, Alpha, Luna." The children looked up at us and ran towards me.

"Miss Azula."

"Miss Azula, you're having breakfast with us today."

"Yes, honey, I'm having breakfast with you today."

I stood up, and Elaine was looking at me with a smile. She took my arm as she used to when we were little girls. "Azula, let's see if the table is set."
