The God of Life, Eirian, was preparing to meet his guests when an unexpected disruption caught his attention. A group of angels hurriedly approached, their faces a mix of concern and amusement. One of them stepped forward and delivered the news.
"Felix has died again," the angel reported.
Eirian sighed deeply. "Again?" he mumbled to himself, rubbing his temples.
As he walked through the celestial garden, he spotted a familiar figure not far from where he stood. He broke into a run, shouting, "Felix, do you realize this is the 56th time I've had to revive you?"
Felix looked up, a sheepish expression on his face. "Well, yes... sorry about that," he replied awkwardly.
Eirian sighed, a blend of exasperation and fondness in his tone. "How did you die this time? Fell while bungee jumping? Food poisoning? Choked on literal water?"
In the background, a few angels were exchanging bets, trying to guess the cause of death. One angel, holding a scroll and quill, whispered to another, "I bet five halos he choked on something ridiculous again."
Felix glanced away, clearly embarrassed. "I... uh... accidentally swallowed and choked on the engagement ring I bought," he admitted, his cheeks turning crimson.
Eirian's eyes widened in disbelief. "How??" he exclaimed.
"I don't know, okay?" Felix retorted, a bit defensive. "I was trying to do a dramatic proposal in front of a mirror and somehow... it ended up in my mouth."
Eirian tried to stifle a laugh but failed miserably. "You were proposing to yourself in the mirror?"
"It was for practice!" Felix snapped. "And could you stop yelling? You're going to burst my eardrums."
"Right, sorry about that, love." Eirian took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "Well, since you're here, you might as well join us at the banquet," he said, wrapping an arm around Felix's waist.
"What? No!" Felix protested angrily. "I need a break. I don't want to see more people."
"Come on, it'll be fun," Eirian coaxed. "Besides, the angels are dying to know the details. Look at them, they're practically on the edge of their wings."
Felix glared at the group of eavesdropping angels, who quickly pretended to be busy polishing their halos. "I don't care about their gossip. I just want some peace and quiet."
Eirian sighed, defeated. "Fine, I'll arrange a quiet room for you. But seriously, you need to be more careful. If I have to revive you one more time, I'm charging you for it."
"Charging me? With what?" Felix asked, raising an eyebrow.
"With... I don't know, divine credits or something," Eirian replied, waving his hand dismissively.
"Divine credits?" Felix laughed. "You just made that up."
"Yeah, well, so did you when you decided to swallow an engagement ring," Eirian shot back, a grin tugging at his lips.
"Touché," Felix conceded, chuckling. "Alright, alright. I'll be more careful. No more dramatic proposals or ridiculous stunts. For now, can I just have that quiet room?"
"Sure thing, love," Eirian said, guiding him away from the bustling hall. "But next time, try not to choke on anything, okay? You're giving the afterlife a bad name."
As they walked away, one of the angels whispered to another, "Double or nothing he chokes on his own words next time."
Eirian couldn't help but laugh, shaking his head. Life—and afterlife—with his beloved Felix was never dull.
