Diana was so upset to think that she would end up married to Roberto, who was a scoundrel, and she felt so repulsed just imagining that she would have to be with him and that he would end up getting from her what he had always wanted. Diana knew very well, and Roberto himself had told her on occasion, that he and no one else would have to be the owner of her virginity and although Diana refused, he was patient because he knew that sooner or later she would end up giving in.
Whether for good or for bad, it bothered Diana a lot because Roberto would not let her live her life, it was almost as if Diana were already his property.
Because even though they were not dating, he did not stop harassing her, she could not go out because Roberto always appeared "casually", and even if someone just approached her, he was in charge of driving them away. Since Diana had finished with Roberto, she had not been able to have a relationship with anyone else, she did not know how he did it, but he always scared all her suitors and that is why in a moment of anger and despair, she thought that if she lost her virginity Roberto would no longer be interested in her.
And if he continued with the idea of marrying her, at least she would have the satisfaction of knowing that he would not be the first to touch her body, she would not give him the pleasure of achieving what he wanted so much.
But without knowing it, Diana was now in another even bigger mess, she never imagined that this would happen, she had heard her co-workers talk about how they went out partying and if they liked any stranger they would simply sleep with him and the next day as if nothing had happened, everyone went on with their lives without changing anything at all.
Diana thought it would be that easy, but now she regretted it and blamed herself for being so naive and getting into such a mess.
But even so, there was no turning back, so taking a deep breath, she plucked up the courage to face it and finally ask him what he wanted from her.
"Well, stop with the stupidity and tell me once and for all what is it that you want."
"Well, look, as you can see I don't need money, so there are only two ways we can fix this, I want to be with you one more time since you are no longer a Miss, it would be like being with anyone else and you would no longer owe me anything, on the contrary, you can put the amount you want to receive in return, no matter the amount you ask for I will give it to you.
As you can see I am a very generous person." He said smiling.
However, despite the fact that he was smiling, Diana could tell that he was not sincere and she did not know what, but there was something more sinister behind all this.
"You're crazy, who do you take me for? Do you think I'm one of many you have fun with?
That's unheard of, I'll never be with you again."
Seeing Diana's reaction, the stranger got quite upset, had it been the worst night of his life, was he not good enough in bed, with those thoughts he felt his pride hurt.
How dare that little girl despise him. Annoyed, he began to dress while saying to her:
"Am I not good enough in bed? Last night you were so passionate that I thought you'd like a second time."
Diana turned red as a tomato, she did not know what to say so she chose to remain silent.
"Think about it, while you think better, I can invite you to breakfast, you can't think straight on an empty stomach."
"I have nothing to think about, and I'm not interested in having breakfast with you."
"Well, I can give you a second option, since you are not interested in spending one more night with me, you can work for me for a year. You have a week to think about it, I just hope you're not thinking of running away from me, believe me wherever you hide I'll find you.
Oh, and lastly, you have to come with me to breakfast, so tell me what you would like, do you prefer tea or coffee or maybe juice, would you like scrambled eggs, Mexican style or sunny side up or would you prefer chilaquiles, green or red they can be with chicken or with a fried egg, or simply toasted bread with jam. If you wish anything you only have to ask."
Diana made a face of displeasure, while thinking, "He's an idiot".
Since Diana didn't say anything, he offered to choose for her.
"Considering the hangover you have, I think some red chilaquiles would suit you better, so as not to upset your stomach, and would you prefer coffee or juice?"
"Juice," Diana said in an annoyed tone.
"Okay, I'll order breakfast right now."
The stranger spoke to Rosario, his housekeeper, and gave her instructions, she was surprised to see that he was accompanied, since her boss never took women to the farm, in fact she had never seen him with any girl, and she was even more surprised to see that he had invited her to breakfast, even so she just nodded and set about preparing everything with the help of some of the other employees of the farm.
Diana was still standing there without uttering a single word, she was lost in her thoughts when the stranger approached her and stretching out his hand to greet her said:
"After the great night we spent and seeing that we will have breakfast together, I think I should introduce myself, my name is Mateo Covarrubias."
He said with a pleasant smile on his face; however, Diana did not respond, she just looked at him with contempt, she was bothered by how cynical he was after everything, now he was kindly introducing himself as if nothing had happened.
Seeing that the girl did not react to his courteous greeting, Mateo became annoyed and gritted his teeth to contain his anger, which was gradually growing, he said, "Don't you dare leave me with my hand outstretched without answering my greeting." Diana, noticing how upset he was, thought it would be better to respond to his greeting and taking his hand towards hers, she said:
"My name is Diana Hernandez."
Mateo took her hand and although Diana wanted to withdraw it immediately, Mateo held it tighter to prevent her from withdrawing her hand, Diana annoyed pulling her hand hard said:
"You can let go of my hand now."
Mateo looked at her fixedly, which made Diana very nervous. And after a few seconds, he let go.
Diana taking a few steps back and sighing in surrender, said, "It's better that we hurry up and have breakfast or I won't make it to work."
Mateo glanced at his watch, while casually asking her, "Where do you work?"
"I work at the Heredia & Associates law firm, in the offices in the city center and my starting time is nine o'clock."
Mateo was surprised to hear her, and with a small, almost imperceptible smile, he said,
"It's already 8 and considering where we are, it's very difficult for you to get there, you'd better relax. You won't make it today, even if you left right now the farm is very big you would have to walk to get to the road and take a minibus which from here and taking into account the stops it will be making, it would take at least an hour and a half."
Diana's face changed, she looked very worried, as she said:
"It can't be, I can't miss work, I can't risk losing my job, not now that I need it so much," she said almost in a murmur.
But it was enough for Mateo to hear her, he felt sorry to see her so distressed, he did not understand why she was so worried about losing a job and taking his cell phone he sent a message that said: "Investigate everything about Diana Hernandez." The message was read without any reply.
Mateo approached Diana and told her, "You can let them know that you will not be coming in, I don't think you will have any problems just for missing one day.
And if you have any problems you can always agree to be with me, it depends on you how much you want to get."
Diana was extremely annoyed by the cynical way he treated her and angrily said:
"Who do you take me for, do you think I am just anybody to be with you for money!"
