Evelyn lay on the soft bed, lost in her thoughts. She wondered why, all of a sudden, Dereck was so worried about her. Her heart was full of doubts and uncertainties. "Yes, I'm going to work. But I'll visit you at the end of the afternoon."
Dereck looked wistfully at Evelyn.
"Come on, Mr. Norton, I want to talk to you in private."
Dereck takes one last look at Evelyn before leaving.
"What is going on with Mr. Norton? Why is he acting so different with me? Is he going to fire me? Is that why he is being friendly?"
Evelyn's arguments were intense and irrelevant.
Outside the room, Leonardo stopped in the sparsely populated corridor and asked Dereck seriously.
"Dereck, we are longtime friends. What is intriguing me is your great and notorious concern for an employee. In all these years, I have never seen you worried about anyone, but this girl who is in the main room simply leaves you totally different. Dereck, I'm not asking you as a doctor, but as a great friend. What is your relationship with Miss Evelyn?"
Leonardo was a longtime friend of Dereck's. But due to time and work, the two did not talk much.
Dereck looked at Leonardo with a serious expression and a slight nostalgic smile. He sighed before replying, "Evelyn... she's more than just an employee to me, Leonardo. She's special. As they walked down the hall together, Leonardo began to speculate on the future of Dereck and Evelyn. "I don't know, Leonardo. Things are not as simple as you imagined."
Dereck laments sadly.
"But what prevents you from being happy? Does she know about your love conflicts? Have you told her that you are in love with her? Dereck, if you don't do something, someone else will come and take your place."
"Dr. Leonardo, they are waiting for you in the management office for the meeting."
An employee gives the message to the doctor.
"Dereck, I have to go now. We'll finish our conversation later."
Leonardo patted Dereck on the shoulder and left with the employee.
Dereck goes to the company.
Evelyn is in the hospital room bored. She had watched so much TV during the afternoon that she got fed up.
Two women enter the room. While one was doing a recheck of vital signs, the other was writing everything down.
"Cynthia, did you see Mr. Norton, that hot man who always appears on the screens all over the city? I saw him talking to Dr. Leonardo. I went to tell the doctor about the meeting, and they were talking. From what I understood, Mr. Norton has a woman in his life."
The nursing technician sighed deeply, revealing her displeasure.
"But is that true? Many say he doesn't like women. You may be mistaken, Marta."
The other nursing technician was doing the checkup.
The two women didn't care if Evelyn heard the whole conversation. In fact, they didn't know that Evelyn was Dereck Norton's secretary.
