“You’re telling us Pop actually admitted that he’s a
Daddy?” Hawk asked.
Beau nodded. “Yeah. Ma was his Little.”
Angel groaned. “There are just some things we don’t
need to know.”
The men all laughed.
“Okay, why’d you call the meeting? Unlike you
assholes, I have a Little that I want to get home to,” Ash
said.
Wolf flipped him off while Beau rolled his eyes, trying
to hide the sense of longing he was feeling over not having
his own Little to go home to.
“I want to take down the dog fighting ring that I
saved Cinnamon from,” Beau said as he scratched behind
the dog’s ears.
His brothers stared at him silently. Beau knew his
brothers might give him some pushback about taking down
the ring. Saving dogs wasn’t something they typically did.
Ever. Saving innocent women and children was their main
goal. But after rescuing Cinnamon and knowing there were
so many other dogs who were in just as bad shape, or even
worse, made Beau want to save them all.
“What do you mean you want to take them down?”
Maddox asked.
“I mean I want to figure out how we can save all the
dogs they have and then make sure the ring doesn’t get
started again,” Beau answered.
Knox and Hawk exchanged glances.
Hawk leaned forward in his chair, resting his elbows
on his knees. “What do you plan to do with all the dogs? I
mean, for all we know, there could be hundreds of them.”
“I want to open a rescue facility for dogs and
rehabilitate them so they can eventually go to loving families. I’ll fund the project myself and pay for whatever
building that needs to be bought, but I can’t do it alone,”
Beau explained.
“Dude, you’re seriously killing me. You know Kylie
wants a dog. If we start rescuing dogs, she’s going to want
to adopt all of them,” Ash complained.
Beau knew Ash would help despite his grumbling. Ash
would pretty much do anything to help any of his brothers,
even if he did bitch about it the entire time.
“Look, I know we usually stick to helping women and
children, but after seeing how bad Cinnamon was when we
found her and knowing there are other dogs being abused, I
can’t just sit back and do nothing. Celeste would want us to
do something about it. You all know how much she loved
dogs.”
The mention of Celeste’s name silenced the room. It
always did. Anytime they spoke about her, it was a reminder
of what they lost and the reason they started working in the
shadows in the first place.
Wolf nodded. “You’re right. I’m in.”
Knox and Colt nodded, and then the rest of the men
followed.
“We can use one of our empty warehouses as a
makeshift kennel for the dogs until you get a permanent
structure figured out,” Wolf suggested.
Beau nodded. “That’s what I was thinking. The
warehouse near the river has fields of grass all around it for
the dogs to have space to run and play. I’ll have to hire
staffing to care for the dogs and exercise them daily so I can
continue running the gym. I’m also going to try to find a
therapist for dogs to work on rehabilitating them.”
“They have therapists for dogs?” Ash asked
incredulously.
Beau shrugged. “I mean, I’m sure they do. They have
therapists for humans, so why not dogs?”
