After returning it was time to translate. Mr. Sinha helped me with finding out the cases and then left saying he got something to do.
I stood up in the middle and started speaking. "As per the report, there are 2 women, 3 men and a child of 5 who became victims of the brutality. And surprisingly, 5 out of 6 had crime records."
"1) Pooja, a woman in her forties, was accused of torturing and killing her adopted daughter.
According to the report, Pooja and her husband bought a girl from an orphanage. Pooja's husband was quite wealthy, they lived a luxurious life. One day, her husband went out of town but he never returned. She soon became insolvent and in order to earn her living, she forced the girl to sell her body, the girl refused. This made pooja angry and she ended up killing the girl. "
"2)Ramu and 3) Vyas, an old local merchants were charged with adulteration. Due to their harmful products many people who consumed their good, fell sick. "
"Like them others also have committed a crime that threatened others life except the small boy. He is the only one who was killed without any crime history. But, according to his medical record, he was suffering from a lungs disease. His days were numbered." I explained and went back to sit down.
"Talking about killers killing patterns, they chop off the heads of the victims. Not only this, but the killer also draws some different patterns on his victims" William who was sitting with the photos spoke up.
Hearing him, we all turned our attention to the photos. The bodies were dressed beautifully and there was no sign of torture on it. It looked as if they willingly gave up their life. Every part of their body was alright except the head, which was missing. The only mark that they had was a pattern which was drawn by a knife.
"Serial murder." Bella muttered.
"Pardon?" not understanding the term used by Bella , Alex asked.
"The former FBI Special Agent, Robert Ressler, coined the term serial murder in 19s. The term serial murder is used when someone has committed series of murder, often with no apparent motive and typically follows a characteristics, predictable behaviour pattern." I explained.
"So, we are dealing with a serial killer?" William asked. " As of now, based on our assumptions, Yes, we are" Bella answered.
"Btw, wasn't Edward Smith, one of the officers, murdered in the same way. Don't it mean he also like others committed a crime?" Kevin interrogated. " Exactly, that's what I was going to ask." Bella said. "But what crime could it be? As far as I think, the crime should be something that concern life of human." William spoke with a serious expression. "A man with a crime record was sent here to investigate and not only that, man like him can also become officers." Kevin said matching the same serious expression level of William.
"Don't judge someone who you don't know about. Aren't you all taught this?" Alex standing up angrily. " And we are not here to talk about the officers, we are here to investigate our criminal" Daniel said trying his best to manage his anger. "Anyways, our work is done here." saying this both left leaving behind suspicion and unanswered question. We all looked at each other but non of us spoke anything. We don't even know what wrong we said that now angered our teammates.
"I think I know what those patterns are. But I need to confirm it. " I said and walked out of the room.
Air outside felt so good. That evening sun getting ready to set down, all birds returning back to their home. Everything felt amazing. Enjoying my mesmerizing surroundings, I walked towards Kaushik Mansion.
