The End Of A Chapter

Three days have passed, and King Edward has decided that it is now the right moment to summon Amelia and Margaret. Seated upon his throne in the grand throne room, Edward appears rather bored, eager to conclude this matter swiftly. He leans on the armrest of his chair, his left elbow supporting his half-fisted hand as it rests against his cheek.

King Edward's two knights roughly usher Amelia and Margaret into the room, dragging them forward with their hands bound behind them by ropes. The two women are forced to kneel before Edward, their gazes cast downward.

Margaret and Amelia are dressed in tattered, dirty clothing, with dirt covering them from head to toe. They bear no resemblance to royalty in their current state.

A smirk crosses Edward's face as he recalls Margaret's past as a slave whom he rescued and wed. However, his expression quickly shifts to one of coldness as he realizes that the very woman he married has betrayed the kingdom he holds dear.

"Amelia," Edward utters with a cold tone, his gaze shifting towards her. Amelia looks up, visibly terrified. "Let me clarify one thing. My preference for Eleanor was only slight because she didn't behave like a spoiled brat, unlike you," Edward remarks, his annoyance evident as he fixes his stare on Amelia. She looks back down, fighting back tears.

Edward remains silent for a few moments, his imposing presence instilling fear in them as he simply gazes at them.

"I am considering enslaving both of you and banishing you from the kingdom," Edward says coldly, causing Margaret to quickly look up, dreading the prospect of returning to slavery.

"No! Please! I will do anything! Take this wench instead! I am far more useful than her!" Margaret pleads, urging Edward to choose Amelia for slavery instead.

Amelia glances beside her as Margaret pleads, feeling betrayed. "M-Mother! How could you!?" Amelia exclaims, her eyes welling up with tears.

"You deserve it! You're worthless!" Margaret retorts, locking eyes with Amelia, a situation that amuses Edward, evident from his smirk.

"No, no. I will ensure both of you are sold to the same buyer," Edward states coldly, a smirk playing on his lips. This decision would be more fitting, considering Margaret's betrayal of Amelia.

"Get them out of my sight," Edward commands the knights, gesturing for Amelia and Margaret to be removed as their presence has become increasingly bothersome to him.

As the knights escort them away, Amelia and Margaret scream, plead, and struggle against their captors. The commotion echoes through the room until the doors of the throne room close behind.

Two years later...

The priest, in a calm tone, asks, "Do you, Merlin Ravenswood, take Emerald Lockheart to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish until death do you part?"

"I do..." Merlin replies, facing Emerald, holding her hands tenderly, and gazing at her with love in his eyes.

The priest then turns to Emerald and asks, "Do you, Emerald Lockheart, take Merlin Ravenswood to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish until death do you part?"

"I do..." Emerald responds, a slight blush gracing her cheeks.

"As husband and wife, you may now seal your vows with a kiss," the priest announces, stepping back. Merlin and Emerald share a kiss, eliciting applause and cheers from everyone gathered.

Alexander claps with a slight smile, expressing pride in his little sister, when suddenly a girl bumps into him.

"Oh, I'm sorry..." She stammers, slowly lifting her gaze with a shy expression and a faint blush on her cheeks. It's Seraphina.

Alexander glances at her and is instantly captivated, but then Seraphina's husband abruptly grabs her hand and drags her away with him. "What are you doing!? You're so annoying!" he exclaims, pulling her roughly, leaving Alexander bewildered.

The End.
