Jaimee

I felt my body debilitate the longer we kept wandering along the alley. Azriel halted a few moments later, I sensed something was... spying on us...

As if in instinct, I pull my arm from Azriel's shoulder and got ready for anything. My body felt heavy, but it was bearable. Looking through every possible way an ambush can attack.

Standing at the middle of an intersection, there's this shadow-like feature dashing, circling on us. It stayed hidden perfectly through the shadows that if we didn't look closely, we'd miss it.

'Azriel? Azriel..? Can you hear me?' I ask telepathically, making sure our mind links are connected.

'Loud and clear.'

'What is that?'

'I'm not sure, but whatever it is be ready.'

As it dashes closer around us, it leaves faint purple lines where its eyes were once placed. We're at a disadvantage, if only I know how-

I was cut off from my thoughts when I saw a white flash at the corner of my eye. I look behind me, seeing Azriel's arm glow white, the colour of her mark. She pulls out a random wall, slices it into pieces and making it levitate around us into a barrier.

In a flash moment, it charges to us directly. The bits and pieces of sliced metals were pulled together to form a sword that levitates in front of Azriel, pointing to the shadow. Launching the sword to it, furiously.

The shadow quickly dodges then disappears. Azriel pulls the bits and pieces of metal that once was a sword. Placing the pointy end of the metal towards the outside of the barrier, making a spiky dome barrier.

Then we all froze when we heard the klinking again. Approaching us, fast. Azriel and I readied, fasting towards the alley where the sound was coming from. It suddenly stopped for a long while and howls.

It starts to walk slowly then walks faster and faster. It sounded like a four-legged creature with slims sticking to its heavy metallic armor. Approaching us, it moves through the shadows of the  dark alley, then leaps.

Azriel levitated the slide metals and join them together to form a wide spiky knife. I held onto it and charges to the creature upward, slicing into its stomach, letting out a loud cry as it land-crashes. It then recovers quickly, biting the knife out then throw it directly towards me. Azriel quickly slows it to a stop.

But then the creature leaps from its place, then dives to attack Azriel. As it nears Azriel, a flash of purple light dashes towards the creature, attacking it from the side.

The knife suddenly drops with a loud thud as it made contact with the floor. I pick up the knife then dash to Azriel, asking if she was alright.

'I'm alright.'

I reply with a nod, stood up and handled the knife, getting ready to strike. The creature slowly recovers, but the purple shadow dashes towards us. I dropped the knife when the shadow suddenly grabbing us and rushed towards safety.

The dashing slows down as we shift from one alley to another, then I hear heavy breathing's.

"Are...you...both...alright?" The shadow asked in between heavy breathes.

"Yeah, thanks. But, why?" I asked.

"Well, to be honest, I actually thought that you both were enemies or spies, perhaps." He started explaining, "then I saw your mark when you launched towards that lizard and I thought you're one of the newly awaken. So, I decided to help."

"Oh okay." Was all I can say.

"Name's Dezmond, by the way. What's yours?"

"I'm Jaimee." Then I point toward Azriel. "This is-"

I was cut off by Azriel though telepathy, 'don't tell him my real name.'

Looking at her, she glances to me with a straight face.

"Az." I continued, "Her name is Az."

"Well, nice to meet you miladies. But, we can't stay here long, I manage to get us far from that lizard but if we don't kneep moving, it's going to catch up to us." He said, then starts walking the opposite way.

We walk in silence and I can feel my body gaining weight. I start to fall behind.

'You okay?' Azriel asks, peeking at me from her shoulder.

'Just tired.' I was exhausted. Waking up just a while ago, and now I jump straight into action? With no chance of resting for a while.

Dezmond realizes I was a bit far behind and stops walking. "Let's rest for a bit but be vigilant." He sat by the side as walk to the side, drop my bag, then descents to sit and exhales a long heavy breathe. Azriel by my side.

At Dezmond's far end, we barely heard a faint klink. Making me and Azriel stand up in reflex, Dezmond too. Getting ready to strike.

It suddenly hastens towards us. I focus most of my strength at my fist and leaps forward to the creature punching it at its jaw making it fly up and crashes hard on the wall. Azriel levitated it and throws it to the other wall. Dezmond pulls its tail and crashes it toward the other wall. Azriel then crumbles the other wall and pushes it backwards, making a new passageway to another alley.
