Chapter 5: The Accident

Chapter 5: The Accident

Davis and Emily were sitting in her living room, discussing their plans for the upcoming college tour. Davis was enthusiastically explaining the various clubs and organizations available at Crestwood College, and Emily was listening intently, her eyes sparkling with interest.

"I think you'd really love the art club," Davis said, leaning forward. "They do some amazing projects, and it's a great way to meet like-minded people."

Just as Emily was about to respond, her phone rang. It was Davis's mom, sounding frantic on the other end. "Davis, please come home right away! Sophie's having a severe asthma attack, and her inhaler is empty!"

Davis's expression turned worried, and he quickly stood up. "I'll be right there," he said before turning to Emily. "I'm so sorry, Emily. I have to go."

Emily nodded understandingly. "Go, I'll come with you."

When they arrived at Davis's house, Sophie was indeed struggling to breathe. Emily quickly assessed the situation and sprang into action. "Don't worry, I've learned first aid for asthma attacks," she said, guiding Sophie to sit upright and trying to calm her down until they could get medical help.

Luckily, Emily's quick thinking and knowledge helped stabilize Sophie's condition until Davis's mom could get her to the hospital. Afterward, Davis thanked Emily profusely. "You're a lifesaver, Emily. I don't know what we would have done without you."

As they sat in the hospital waiting room, Sophie, who was now feeling better, reached out and hugged Emily tightly. "Thank you so much, Emily. I'm so grateful for your help. You were amazing!"

Emily smiled softly, feeling happy to have helped. "You're welcome, Sophie. I'm just glad I could be there for you."

Davis nodded in agreement. "Yeah, we really appreciate it. You're an amazing friend, Emily."

As they waited for the doctor to give the all-clear, Emily couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and connection with Davis and his family. She realized that she was starting to care for them deeply, and she wondered what other adventures lay ahead for her and Davis.

After the doctor gave the all-clear, Emily headed home, where her parents were waiting with concerned expressions. "Hey sweetie, how's Sophie doing?" her mom asked.

Emily smiled, feeling relieved. "She's doing much better now. We got her to the hospital just in time."

Her dad nodded, looking relieved. "That's good to hear. We're glad everything turned out okay. You must have been a big help."

Emily nodded, smiling. "Yeah, I was able to help with her asthma attack. I'm just glad I could be there for her."

Her mom smiled warmly. "We're proud of you, Emily. You're always so caring and helpful."

Emily blushed, feeling happy and content. She went to bed that night, thinking about Davis and Sophie, and wondering what the future held for their friendship.
