Chapter 4: Sweet Surprises

Chapter 4: Sweet Surprises

Emily's heart was racing as she took the cookies from Davis. She couldn't believe he was standing on her porch, smiling at her like that. "Thanks so much, Davis," she said, trying to sound casual despite her fluttering heart.

Davis chuckled. "No problem, happy to help. My mom loves baking, and she's always looking for new people to share with."

Emily smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. "Well, you're definitely welcome to drop by anytime. We're still getting settled in, but it's nice to have friendly neighbors."

As they stood there, Emily noticed Davis's eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled. She felt a pang of attraction and quickly looked away, trying to compose herself.

"Hey, do you want to come in for a bit?" Emily asked, trying to sound nonchalant. "We were just about to watch a movie."

Davis's face lit up. "Sounds like fun! I'd love to join you guys."

Emily's heart skipped a beat as she stepped aside to let Davis in. She couldn't believe how easily he'd fit into their little family gathering.

As they watched the movie, Emily found herself stealing glances at Davis, who was laughing and joking with her siblings. She felt a sense of belonging wash over her, and she knew that this was just the beginning of a beautiful friendship... or maybe something more?

As the movie ended, Davis stood up, stretching his arms. "Thanks for having me over, guys. I had a great time."

Emily smiled, feeling a pang of disappointment that he was leaving. "No problem, Davis. You're welcome anytime."

As they walked Davis to the door, he turned to Emily and said, "Hey, can I talk to you for a minute?"

Emily nodded, curiosity piqued. "Sure, what's up?"

Davis leaned against the doorframe. "So, I'm actually attending Crestwood College. It's a great school, and I think you'd love it."

Emily's eyes widened. "Crestwood College? I've heard of it. Isn't it one of the top colleges in the city?"

Davis nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, it is. And I think you'd really fit in. You should consider applying."

Emily felt a spark of excitement. She'd been thinking about college, and Crestwood was definitely on her radar. "That sounds amazing, Davis. I'd love to learn more about it."

Davis grinned. "I'd be happy to show you around campus sometime. Would you like that?"

Emily's heart skipped a beat as she nodded. "Yeah, I'd love to."

As Davis said goodbye and headed home, Emily couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Maybe this was the start of something special – not just with Davis, but with her future too.

As Emily closed the door, she couldn't stop smiling. She felt like she was floating on air, her heart still racing from the conversation with Davis. She turned to her siblings, who were watching her with curious expressions.

"What's going on, Em?" Dora asked, raising an eyebrow. "You look like you're in a daze."

Emily shook her head, trying to compose herself. "Just talking to Davis about college. He's attending Crestwood College, and he thinks I'd be a great fit."

Ricky's eyes lit up. "That's awesome! You're going to love it, Em."

Emily nodded, feeling a sense of excitement build up inside her. She couldn't wait to learn more about Crestwood College and see if it was the right fit for her.

As she headed to her room, she couldn't help but think about Davis and the way he smiled when talking about his college. She felt a flutter in her chest, wondering if maybe, just maybe, this was the start of something special.
