ARRIVED

The sun hung high in the sky as we continued our journey. By now we had reached the base of the mountains and there would be a carriage waiting for us, I would get in it and from there be taken to school.

"Do you wish to rest my lady?" James asked when we reached the village at the base

"No, I simply wish to walk about the village"

"As you wish my lady" he said bowing as I got off the coach.

The village was lively, little children were running around, women were talking as the carried baskets in the busy marketplace. I could smell bread baking not too far away and it made me a bit hungry. Deciding to go towards the bakery, I turned away from the busy marketplace and moved into a slightly less buddy district where I saw the bakery.

The doorbell went off as soon as I walked in, the woman at the counter dropped the items in her hand as she saw me.

"Are you alright?" I asked walking towards her but she started to cry.

"Madam, why are you crying?"

"Sorry, it's just that you look very familiar" She said

"Sorry for that" I said as she wiped her tears with a handkerchief from her apron

"No, it's alright" she apologized "You remind me of my dead daughter"

"Oh"

"I don't know why, but you just do, she died a month after birth and seeing you just reminded me of her" the woman said "she should be around your age if she were to be alive"

"In what ways do I remind you of her?"

"Your eyes" she said "Even though my child was still an infant, her eyes looked like it held years if knowledge. They were the brightest blue u had ever seen"

My heart clenched at her story and I remembered how I had not met my mother because I was told she dropped me with another maid who presented me to the king. Whenever I ask about her, I am told that she killed herself, proof was the note she left with the maid.

"Sorry about bothering you with my story" she said

"It's alright"

"How about you I've you some bread I just baked?"

"Thank you, but I think I'll pay for it, I cannot allow you to give it to me for free" her eyes watered a bit and she said a "bless you" then handed me the bread. I played then walked out into the busy street, spotting James who was waking towards me.

"My lady" he greeted "The coach heading for your school has arrived"

"Thank you, James" he escorted me towards the station where the coaches were waiting and I got into my designated coach.

...****************...

The sign read "Evlemore Preparatory School" and the school covered a considerable stretch if land. The coach stopped at the gate and I got down, while my bags had already been carried away o my dormitory. A guide escorted me to the girls' dorm and I was showed my room. The room was spacious, it was bigger than any room I'd ever seen, and that was also counting my previous life. It was painted in light pink and white, giving it a cool feeling. There were floor-to-ceiling windows and french door in one of them. The doors led to a balcony and it seemed like a space of another room before the next balcony could be seen.

I looked at the other bed wondering who my roommate could possibly be. It could be the daughter of a Duke, or a Lord or a Nobleman, maybe a knight or possibly a lady in waiting. I was told that ladies in waiting also received their education from this school. Instead of dwelling on that I decided to rest on my new bed. it's only one this kind of opportunity comes and I am able to enjoy it in this life. With those thoughts, I drifted off to sleep
