GAMES II

The week passed by quickly and I spent all of it holed up in my room. A loud pounding brought me out of my slumber. I had slept off on the books I had laid out on my reading desk.

"Amira, open this door!" Groggily, I got up to open the door. The disgusted look I got from father let me know how I looked. My hair was probably disheveled beyond repair and I could guess drool was on the corner of my mouth.

"You have school and you stay holed up in your room sleeping" The disgust in his eyes knee no bounds. My heart clenched tightly, but those emotions did not belong to me.

"I've been busy" I replied already bored.

"Tch, doing what?" U looked behind father and spotted Edward. From the hosts memories Edward was Lord Leon's son from an old flame, but it seemed some laws protected illegitimate children, namely if the heir (me) was incapable of running the estates.

"Reading" I said and he laughed.

"As if your brain has the capacity to understand" he mocked me openly. I saw Katherine's golden hair as she grabbed the edge of his sleeve.

"Edward, my cousin has been trying really hard, I'm sure she'll do better than before" Her expression looked so innocent, I could even see tears stand at the corners of her eyes.

"No need to defend this trash" With the way he looked at me, I'd be dead from his glare. Father in the other hand stood on the side saying nothing.

"Never mind that" He said then he turned to me "Better get ready, James will be waiting downstairs"

They turned away after that and I got dressed. The school I was to attend was one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the area. This school was meant for the children if Kings, Lords, Dukes and pretty much anybody with royal or Noble blood running through their veins.

The journey was long, so I decided to dress light in order to be comfortable. Getting downstairs I saw the mother and daughter pair. Before regaining the memories I had thought this woman was my mother, but now I know that she is just an aunt who thinks too much if herself.

"Aunty" I greeted her and I could see her hand clench.

"Amira you took so long, I was just thinking of sending Katherine to get you" she said putting on a smile.

"I'm sorry I took so long, I was just getting some things at the last minute" I replied with an equally fake smile.

"Also don't forget to focus or your father will be very angry" she said and I nodded in response.

"Don't worry mother, my cousin will no longer focus on trivial things" Katherine grabbed my arm as she said so.

"I hope so dear" Then she turned to me "I also hope you have put the Duke's son out of your mind" I replied that I had and walked out the door while the servants had carried my bags.

Walking outside I spotted James and behind him was a grand ooking coach.

"Good morning my Lady" He bowed deeply

"Good morning" I replied cheerfully

"I will be your Coachman on this journey" He said then directed me to a different coach that looked shabbier than the one he stood in front of.

We settled in then started off on our journey. The coach winded down the path and we left the estate, coming out into the open. The path was filled with lush trees and greenery. There were mountains in the distance and James told me that the school was beyond those mountains but at the base there was a small village where we would pass the night.

A crack and a bang sounded behind the coach, bringing it to a chaotic stop.

"What's going on?" I asked stepping down

"Nothing much my Lady, the tires seem to have come of, I'll just change it" I nodded at his explanation and turned around to look at the greenery. Looking back at James who was distracted I decided to explore the forest a little bit.

The path I took led to an opening which was filled with an array of multicolored flowers and pretty fireflies that glowed since the sunlight didn't reach here due to the densely packed trees. As much as the beauty was alluring I had to turn back before James got worried. I turned on my heel but a flash of light under a shrub caught my attention. I peeked under it and something jumped at me, causing me to stumble backwards.

Looking down at what was in my arms, it was a dragon? Nothing from the hosts memories hunted at this world being mythical, his could there be a dragon existing.

I looked at the little thing in my lap and it looked back at me before warming up to me, snuggling into my hand. I relaxed a bit and tried to let it, but it bit me, likewise, I screamed and it jumped off, running back into the bushes.

I paid no more attention the creature, but turned back to the coach, not caring about what I had experienced.

While back in the coach, my finger kept tingling. It felt like tiny sparks ran from my finger and shot into my arm.

Once nightfall approached James slowed down and we stopped at a nearby village to pass the night. Looking at the stars I felt that what Kay ahead was as vast as the stars above. I closed my eyes and let sleep take over.
