DENNIS CONNOR:

Hearing Mel say that she didn't want anything else to do with me left me completely lost. The only thing that came to my mind was to declare what I was feeling in my heart.

I didn't want to lose her.

Now I feel like a complete fool for revealing my feelings to her. I tried to make her break up with that man I don't even know, but Mel decided to stay with him.

"Yes. You may do so, Miss Mayer. Now get out and close the office door."

I speak without looking at her...

I notice her looking at me while I was typing on the computer...

Her voice was melancholic.

"It's Mr. Connor to you. Only my girlfriend calls me Dennis. Don't forget your place, Miss Mayer."

At that moment, he looked deep into my eyes, making my body tremble.

He was back to being the same jerk and wretch he was before.

I don't know what came over me, but I had a strong urge to cry. After all, I was the one who chose this. I need to get used to how everything was from the beginning, how it was just boss and secretary...

I swallow hard and reply.

"Thank you for keeping it, I ended up forgetting it in the bathroom..."

At that moment, his attention returned to the computer screen.

Jerk! He didn't even look at me or answer after I thanked him. I stand there for a moment, and soon turn to leave the room.

"Go to the bathroom and pick up those rags."

I stop with my hand on the doorknob.

"Rags? Are you talking about my clothes?"

An urge to slap him comes to mind.

"Of course! Pick them up immediately and then you can leave."

I hear his voice echoing behind me... How can a person change so completely?

"Yes, Mr. Connor."

Without looking at him, I go to the bathroom... I have a feeling those black eyes were watching me as I entered that room.
