"Mr. Connor, Arthur and I..."
Before she could finish the sentence, Dennis kisses her like a madman thirsty for water in the desert, pushing her against the wall.
He couldn’t think about anything else, he was eager to touch her body, too eager to feel the heat of Mel’s lips.
"Let go of me." Mel pushes him hard. She was upset to see him with Amanda.
"Now you're rejecting my kisses? What's wrong, Miss Mayer, did Arthur screw you so much that you don't want my kisses anymore? I'm dying to hug you and kiss you and you just reject me?"
Dennis is enraged by her rejection.
Mel hits his face with a hard slap.
"What do you think I am? Do you think I'm a prostitute who gets involved with several men at the same time? I'm not that kind of woman, Mr. Connor. I'm disappointed in you."
She walks to the door, tries to open it, but Dennis had locked it and kept the keys.
"Please, open up."
He leans on her again.
"Forgive me, please. I'm going crazy. Mel, my Mel. I'm losing my mind over you."
Dennis hugs her tightly, gently smelling her neck.
But Mel was hurt and didn't react to his touch even with a very strong desire to return the affection.
"Open the door, please, Mr. Connor. I want to go."
"Mel, look at me." Dennis holds her face.
"Yes, Mr. Connor?"
"Mr. Connor? I want to hear you call me Dennis, please."
He smells her neck, giving several little kisses up to her mouth.
Mel turns her face away, scorning his lips.
Dennis holds her waist firmly with his hands.
"Let's talk. Don't be mean. This coldness of yours is killing me. I can't stand your contempt, it's consuming me from the inside. This way, I'll get sick."
Dennis rests his head on her shoulder. There was an eerie silence between them.
Mel’s heart races as she sees him so fragile and needy, lying on her shoulder.
It breaks her heart that was hardened by jealousy.
"Alright. We'll talk later. But now I need to work."
Dennis takes Mel's hands.
"Today I want to take you to my apartment. Don't worry, I just want to talk to you properly. We won't do anything you don't want to. I will respect you, I promise."
"All right. But I won't stay long."
"Okay. Mel. Mel. I'm loving calling you that." He smiles, making her let out a discreet smile.
"That's so much better. You look so much prettier when you smile. Sorry for my harsh words, but jealousy got the best of me."
"Jealousy?" Her eyes widen in surprise.
"Yes. I'm very jealous of you. I don't know what's happening to me, but I don't want to see you near another man. It drives me crazy."
"So, you were jealous of me and Arthur?" She asks, staring at him.
"Of course I was. I can't even hide it."
"You don't need to be jealous. Arthur just helped me. He took me for a broth." I drank so much broth that I started sweating.
"So, you took a shower?" He asks curiously with raised eyebrows.
"Of course not. After all, I drank a bowl of hot broth. When I finished, we were talking, and when I was coming back to the company, I went to the restaurant's bathroom and wet my hair because of the heat. Arthur just helped me and also gave me a pill for the flu."
Dennis sighed deeply, feeling relieved.
"What? You thought he and I were doing that? You have such a dirty mind. Arthur was a great friend. I'm happy for his friendship."
"You met him today, and you're already so close? I didn't like that."
Dennis held her waist firmly.
"Dennis." Mel smiles discreetly once more.
"Say it again, please."
He smells her cheeks.
"Dennis! My boss."
"Your voice calling my name is so sexy. It made me hard."
He was pressing himself against her. Mel could attest to his words.
"What time should I go to your apartment? And won't your fiancee be there? I don't think that's a good idea."
Dennis immediately remembers that he had arranged to go out to dinner with Amanda.
"Oh, no. I forgot. I invited her to dinner tonight. Sorry, honey. It's not going to work out for us to talk at my apartment today."
Mel releases herself from his hands.
"Dennis, we're both committed. Let's end our involvement once and for all. It will be better."
She says with tearful eyes.
Dennis shakes his head in disagreement.
"Mel, I can't stay away from you."
He takes her hand and places it on his chest.
"Can you feel it? I feel alive when you're near me. I don't know since when this happened, but I'm completely in love with you. Please, don't leave me. Stay with me."
"Dennis, I fell in love with you too, but we're both impossible. Both you and I are already committed. I can't break up with Carlos and make him suffer. It's the same with your fiancee."
"So, are we going to put a stone on top of this feeling and pretend that we don't feel anything for each other? Is that really what you want? It's not my fault that I fell head over heels for you and can't be with any other woman but you anymore. I only want you. Give me a chance, let's try, my love."
Dennis held Mel's hands tightly.
"Forgive me. But I can't do that. I know I'm going to suffer a lot, but I don't want to see my boyfriend suffer."
Dennis lets go of her hands.
And he walks furiously inside the office.
"I understand. You can go back to your desk."
He turns his back on her.
Dennis stands still in front of the large glass window of the office.
Through the reflection of his image, Mel can see that his eyes are tearing up.
"Dennis."
She tries to speak, but he raises his hand.
"I want to be alone."
She observes his body. Even from behind, Dennis's beauty could be observed.
She wanted to hug him tightly. But their relationship had already gone too far.
Mel made the decision to stay with Carlos even with her heart in pieces.
