A silence fell after Dennis's question. He waited for a satisfactory answer from Mel.

"Miss Mayer? Are you still there?"

Speaking softly, the CEO asked in a slightly husky and sensual voice, leaving Mel embarrassed on the other side of the line.

"Yes, I am. I was reflecting on working with you after everything that happened between us..."

Mel confides in him.

"Good afternoon, my love!" Carlos speaks softly.

"Good evening, honey!" She replies apprehensively.

"Honey, I'm very impressed with how you remember the time difference. You didn't call me yesterday, what happened? Are you sick?"

Mel hears a laugh as she listens to Carlos' question. At first, she finds it strange.

"What was that laugh, Carlos? Who is with you?"

"It's a lawyer friend... He's watching TV," Carlos replies.

"Oh, alright, honey. When are you coming back? I miss you."

"Next week, my little Mel. I want to take you like that."

He gave a crooked smile.

Mel fell silent, frowning.

"Honey, are you still there? You're so different? What happened, Mel?"

"Me? Different? Not at all, my love. I'm the same."

She winces, biting her lower lip.

"I'm busy. We'll talk later."

She was in no mood to talk to her boyfriend.

"Okay, Mel!"

Carlos was surprised by his girlfriend's cold demeanor, but as he didn't want to talk much, he said goodbye to her and ended the call.

What Mel didn't know was that Carlos had been cheating on her for a long time with several women when he traveled to Italy.

"Your girlfriend is a very silly woman."

"Yes, I already gave up... And you, Carlos, if you don't love Mel, break up with her. Mel has the right to be happy with another man."

"No way. I want her in my bed forever."

Atila looks at Carlos with disgust.

"I'm leaving now. I'm going to meet some friends."

Atila leaves, leaving Carlos alone.

"Mel will never leave me. She loves me very much."

He speaks with an air of superiority.
