CHAPTER 7( Flashback )

Scene: At night, at the Sakamaki manor. Yui sleeps in her bed.

Yui: Ah...

Yui wakes up.

Yui: Was it a dream?

It's raining really hard.

Yui gets up and looks out the window to see Cordelia standing in the rain.

Yui: What? Who is that?

A flash of lightning occurs, and Yui can see Cordelia more clearly.

Yui: Huh...?

Yui sees Cordelia smile, and she feels a strong sensation. She collapses, and the windows blow open. Moments later, she awakens in a trance.

Scene: In the past, in the morning. After walking through underground corridors, Yui finds herself awake in the garden.

Yui: Huh? What?

Ayato: Over here!

Triplets: Hahaha!

Yui:;Where am I?

A young Ayato, Laito, and Kanato run past Yui. A group of bats flies away, and Kanato begins to cry.

Y.Kanato: The bats I just caught got away.

Y.Laito: Don't cry, Kanato. We can catch them again.

Y.Ayato: Yeah, stop your sniveling! I'll catch 'em for you!

Ayato and Laito begin running off, but Cordelia stops them.

Cordelia:Ayato?

Y.Ayato, Y.Laito: Ah...

Cordelia: Is this where you've been? Hurry and come along with me.

Yui: (Thoughts) Is she the one I just saw in the garden?

Kanato joins up with Ayato and Laito.

Y.Laito: Kanato, let's go.

Y.Kanato: Sure!

Laito and Kanato run off.

Cordelia: You're going back inside to study.

Y.Ayato: N-No way! All I've done is study!

Cordelia: I don't want any excuses. Return to your room.

Y.Ayato: How come Kanato and Laito get to play while all I ever get to do is study?

Cordelia: Because you're not like other children.

Y.Ayato: No, I wanna play more!

Cordelia: How many times must I tell you?!

Ayato runs away from Cordelia. Sometime later, Kanato runs up to Cordelia.

Y.Kanato: Mother?

Cordelia: Kanato, my little songbird, sing. Sing that song for me.

Y.Kanato: Yes, Mother.

Yui: (Thoughts) Is this pretty lady their mother? But that...

Scene: Elsewhere in the garden. Beatrix, Reiji, and a butler are gathered.

Yui: (Thoughts) Is that Reiji?

Yui hears a dog barking. She turns to see Shuu carrying a puppy as he walks toward Beatrix and Reiji.

Y.Shuu: Hahaha... Fufufu... Hahaha!

Beatrix: Shuu, what are you doing there?

Shuu runs up to Beatrix and shows him the puppy.

Y.Shuu: Look, a friend just gave him to me!

Beatrix: Release that thing at once.

The puppy licks Shuu's face.

Y.Shuu: Hahaha... Hahaha! Hey, that tickles!

Hahaha...!

Beatrix: Shuu!

Y.Shuu: Ah...

Beatrix: You are the eldest son, and therefore, the next head of the family.

You must learn how to conduct yourself at all times.

The butler bows and walks over to Shuu.

Y.Shuu: Ah...

The butler attempts to take away the puppy.

Y.Shuu: Ah...! What are you doing?!

No! I promised Edgar I'd take care of him!

Beatrix looks at Shuu disapprovingly.

Y.Shuu: Ngh...

Shuu releases the puppy to the butler.

Y.Shuu: Ngh...!

Shuu runs off. Beatrix sits back down.

Y.Reiji: Mother, I have finished memorizing this entire book.

Beatrix goes back to her embroidery without a word. Yui notices a white rose at her feet and goes down to pick it up, but she pricks her finger on the thorn.

Yui: Ouch! Ah...

When Yui looks up again, she is on a walkway surrounded by white rose bushes leading to a tower.

Yui: This place...

Yui walks forward. A young Subaru looks up to his mother Christa, who is locked up in the tower. Subaru says nothing, and the silver knife in his hand drops to the ground.

Scene: Elsewhere in the garden. Yui sees Richter sitting with Cordelia.

Yui: That man...

Richter: Cordelia, you are easily the most beautiful and elegant being alive.

It is obvious that all things exist to love you and kneel at your feet.

Cordelia: Fufu... Richter, I would like you to always stay by my side just to whisper your sweet nothings.

Yui looks over to see Ayato standing behind a pillar.

Yui: Ah...

Ayato...

Time stops, but Cordelia turns to Yui.

Yui: Ah...!

Yui feels a strong sensation, and she collapses to the ground.

Scene: In the present, in the underground waterway. Yui sits against the wall of the corridor.

Ayato: Hey.

Hey, wake up.

Yui wakes up.

Yui: Ah...

Ayato? Where are we?

Ayato: In the underground waterway.

Yui: How did I get here?

Ayato: You don't remember?

Stay away from this area when it rains.

Yui points in the direction of a door.

Yui: What's behind that door?

Ayato: You don't need to know.

Ayato notices the cut on Yui's finger from the rose.

Ayato: What happened to your hand?

Yui: Huh? I wonder how I cut it.

Ah...!

Yui remembers the rose from her dream.

Yui: Ah...

Laito: What a sweet aroma. Do you call that perfume "Temptation"?

Fufu... I'm glad I ran into you. Let's have some fun together here.

Ayato: It certainly is potent.

Yui: Ah...

Ayato: I've smelled that before.

Yui: Ah...!

Yui runs to a barred door and tries to open it, but it is locked.

Yui: Ah...!

Laito puts his hand at the side of Yui's head.

Yui: Why do you do this?

Laito: Why? Because it's fun, of course.

Ayato: Step aside.

Ayato pushes Laito aside.

Laito: Ah... Ahh...

Yui: Ah...!

Ayato bites into Yui's neck and drinks her blood.

Yui: Ngh...!

Ayato: That's the flavor I remember.

Yui: No... Ayato...

Ayato feels a strong sensation.

Ayato: Ah...!

Yui: Ngh...!

Ayato: You...

Yui: My chest is hurting again.

Ayato: Ngh...

Laito: What's this? Done already, Ayato?

Can I have a turn now?

Ayato: Ngh...Be my guest.

Yui: Ah...!

Laito: Okay, let's have fun with this.

Laito kneels in front of Yui and takes her leg in his hands.

Yui: No...!

Laito: Don't bother. You can't get away from me now. Give up.

Fun fact: Once a butterfly is caught in a spider's web, thrashing about only entangles them more.

Laito bites into Yui's leg.

Yui: Ngh...!

Ayato: Ngh..

Ayato pulls the sleeve of Yui's nightgown down.

Yui: Ah...!

Ayato bites into Yui's shoulder.

Ayato: Ngh...

Damn, I'm bored of this. Forget it.

Ayato leaves as Laito continues to feed.
