CHARACTERS OF THE NOVEL

CHARACTERS OF THE NOVEL

Yuri Komori:-

Yui is the heroine of the Diabolik Lovers series (and also in this novel). She is a beautiful, kind, gentle, and clumsy 17-year-old student, who used to live with her father, a priest, who owns his church. Yui's life turned upside down when she left her father's church to stay with six enigmatic brothers. They were not ordinary siblings, but bloodthirsty vampires who claimed her as their sacrificial bride. Yui had no choice but to coexist with them in their eerie mansion, where danger and desire lurked in every corner. She soon discovered that she was the key to an ancient prophecy: the "Eve" who would awaken the power of the Sakamaki vampires and their father, Karlheinz. But Yui had a secret of her own: her heart belonged to another woman, Cordelia, the wicked mother of three of the brothers. This made her blood irresistible to them, and also the source of her agony. As Yui unraveled the mysteries of her past and her destiny, she found herself torn between fear and love for the diabolical lovers.

SAKAMAKI HOUSEHOLD:-

Karlheinz, the father of the Sakamaki brothers, had three wives and six sons. His second wife, Beatrix, gave birth to the eldest brothers, Shūū and Reiji. His first wife, Cordelia, was the mother of the triplets, Ayato, Kanato, and Laito. His third wife, Christa, was the mother of the youngest brother, Subaru. The brothers grew up in different environments and had different relationships with their mothers. This made them distant and distrustful of each other, even though they shared the same blood.

Shu SAKAMAKI:-

Shu is the eldest son of the Sakamaki family and the current master of the mansion. He grew up receiving too much unwanted attention from his mother, Cordelia, who put immense pressure on him due to her hostilities towards Beatrix. Despite all this, Shu is a music lover and has a soft spot for the art form. He is often found sleeping in the music room, which he owns, and needs some persuasion to be motivated to do

something productive.

Shu is one of the brothers who seemed to have prior knowledge of Yui's arrival as he received a message from "that person" asking him to host her as a guest. Although he seems to be lazy and apathetic, he is deeply affected by the loss of his only human friend, Edgar, who died in a fire set on his village by Reiji. Shu was unable to save him, which made him think that his life was limited by humans.

Despite being the eldest, Shu is not responsible for looking after his brothers and the mansion, as he mostly pushes these duties onto Reiji. Nonetheless, he is a kind-hearted and gentle person who cares deeply for his family and friends.

Reiji SAKAMAKI:-

Reiji, the second son of the Sakamaki family, is known for his composed and formal demeanor. He values rules and demands that others follow them, even though some of his decrees may come off as odd or self-made. He strives to be a role model for the family, despite being the second son. Although he has a very polite attitude and almost always behaves like a gentleman, he can be harsh with his words.

Throughout his childhood, Reiji struggled with feelings of neglect due to his mother's favoritism towards his brother, Shūū, and Cordelia's hostility.

Unfortunately, his anger and frustration caused him to set fire to Edgar's village and later hire a vampire hunter to assassinate Beatrix. However, he eventually regretted his actions when his mother died peacefully, free from Cordelia's harassment, and able to witness her son's mark of adulthood.

In addition to his passion for experimenting and creating drugged potions, Reiji loves to collect kitchenware. Overall, he is a valuable member of the Sakamaki family and contributes to the household positively.

Ayato SAKAMAKI:-

Ayato Sakamaki is the lead male protagonist and the hero of the story. He is the third son of the Sakamaki family, the eldest of the triplets, and the first son of Cordelia, the first wife of the vampire king Karlheinz. Ayato had a traumatic childhood, as he was constantly pressured and abused by his mother, who only cared about his performance and not his feelings. She even tried to drown him once when he failed to meet her expectations. As a result, Ayato developed a narcissistic and arrogant personality, always striving to be the best and calling himself "Ore-sama". He also became emotionally detached and unable to love anyone. However, when he met Yui Komori, the sacrificial bride sent by the church, he gradually changed his attitude towards her. He became more protective and caring of her, and possibly fell in love with her. This is more apparent in his route in the visual novels. Ayato is the first Sakamaki brother to appear in the anime, and the first one to bite Yui. He is also a skilled basketball player, and his favorite food is takoyaki. Before the start of the series, Ayato and his brothers killed their mother, as a way of revenge and liberation. Ayato stabbed Cordelia and drank her blood, saying it was the best.

Kanato SAKAMAKI:-

Kanato Sakamaki, the fourth son of the vampire clan, is a troubled and lonely soul. He grew up witnessing his mother's infidelity and indifference, which scarred him deeply. He found solace in his Teddy, a stuffed bear that holds his mother's ashes, and his singing, which earned him rare praise from her. He calls himself her "little songbird", but his voice is often drowned by his tears and screams. He has a twisted attachment to Yui, the human girl who becomes his blood source. He treats her with a mix of affection and cruelty, often hurting her physically and emotionally. He is fascinated by death and prefers the company of corpses to living beings. He and his brothers murdered their mother in a fit of rage, but he still clings to her memory. Kanato is a complex and tragic character, who needs love and healing.

Laito SAKAMAKI:-

Laito Sakamaki, the fifth son of the vampire clan, is a charming and witty flirt. He suffered from sexual abuse by his mother, who made him her lover and then betrayed him. He was locked up in the basement by his father, who disapproved of their incestuous affair. These traumas left him with a distorted view of love and a perverse nature. He enjoys teasing Yui, the human girl who becomes his blood source, but he can also be cruel and possessive of her. He has a fear of spiders, which stems from his time in the basement. He and his brothers killed their mother in a fit of revenge, but he still harbors some feelings for her. Laito is a cunning and manipulative character, who can lie and scheme with ease. He is the most dangerous of the brothers, as he tries to drive Yui insane with his mind games. Laito is a complex and intriguing character, who needs redemption and acceptance.

Subaru SAKAMAKI:-

Subaru is the youngest of the six Sakamaki brothers and Christa's only son. He grew up in a harsh environment, where his mother rejected him and begged him to kill her. This made him feel unwanted and dirty, and he often resorted to violence to cope with his pain. He also developed a habit of breaking things when he was angry. However, he has a softer and gentler side that he shows to Yui, the only person who cares about him. He even tried to help her escape from the mansion, but she decided to stay. He gave her his silver knife to protect herself, and he secretly fell in love with her, though he would never admit it. He is a troubled and lonely soul who needs Yui's warmth and kindness.

Kino:-

Kino is said to be an illegitimate child of Karlheinz. Kino, a rumored bastard of Karlheinz, debuted in the sixth installment of Diabolik Lovers, Lost Eden. He grew up in "Rothenberg", a land of ghouls who mistreated him for being different. His life changed when he discovered his vampire abilities, which convinced him of his royal lineage. He used his powers to subjugate the ghouls and abducted Yui, hoping to create a new world with her as his Eve.

OTHER CHARACTERS:-

Karlheinz:-

Karlheinz, the father of the Sakamaki brothers and the benefactor of the Mukami brothers, has three wives: Cordelia, Beatrix, and Christa. He can shapeshift into different human forms depending on his purpose. As Tougo Sakamaki, he is a renowned politician. As Reinhart, he is a school doctor who monitors his sons and the Mukamis. He also has a secret plan called "Adam & Eve", which involves Diabolik Lovers More, Blood1, a Japanese visual novel franchise by Rejet2.

Richter:-

Richter, the uncle of the six Sakamaki brothers, is the younger brother of Karlheinz, the current Vampire King. He had a secret affair with Cordelia, Karlheinz's first wife, who also loved him back. However, Karlheinz won her over and married her, leaving Richter bitter and resentful. In the anime adaptation, Cordelia was fatally wounded by Laito, one of her sons, and asked Richter to transplant her heart into another person. Richter did as she wished and implanted her heart into Yui, a baby girl, whom he gave to Seiji Komori to raise. Years later, he came back to the Sakamaki mansion to monitor Yui's progress and wait for the 'awakening' of Cordelia's heart. But his true motive was to use Cordelia's blood to overthrow Karlheinz and become the new Vampire King. He betrayed Cordelia and tried to take over Yui's body, but he was stopped by Ayato and Laito, who stabbed and killed him respectively.

Cordelia:-

Cordelia, the mother of the triplets Ayato, Kanato, and Laito, was the first wife of Karlheinz, a Demon Lord. She died at the hands of her sons, but her heart was transplanted into Yui by Richter, who wanted to revive her. She hated Beatrix, Karlheinz's second wife,

for having children before her. She pressured Ayato, her eldest son, to surpass Beatrix's sons, but without showing him any affection. She later took

over Yui's body and tried to kill the Sakamaki brothers with Richter's assistance. However, Richter betrayed her and confessed that he never loved her. In the anime's first season finale, Cordelia was eliminated and Yui was freed from her influence.

Beatrix:-

Beatrix, the mother of Shū and Reiji, was Karlheinz's second wife. She had a troubled marriage with him, as she gave birth to his oldest sons before his first wife, Cordelia, did. This made Cordelia

jealous and abusive towards her. Beatrix tried to cope by devoting herself to Shū,

who was the heir of Karlheinz, but she

ended up ignoring Reiji, who felt rejected and resentful. Beatrix actually had a deep affection for both of her sons, but she was too stern and shy to show it. She died at the hands of a vampire hunter, who was hired by Reiji, before the series began. However, she was not angry or

sad; she was relieved to escape from

Cordelia's cruelty and her own guilt.

Christa:-

Christa, the mother of Subaru and the third wife of Karlheinz, used to be called the "White Rose" by all vampires for her

beauty and kindness. She married Karlheinz and gave birth to Subaru, but later found out that Karlheinz only wanted her as an experiment. This made her lose her sanity and sometimes confuse her son with her husband. Subaru felt guilty for being born and his mother often asked him to kill her with a silver knife that can destroy vampires.

Seiji Komori:-

Seiji, a priest who runs a church, is Yui's adoptive father. He leaves Yui with the

Sakamakis when he goes abroad for work at the beginning of the series. Yui learns from his diary that he is not her biological father. He is also a vampire hunter who worked for Reiji to kill his mother, Beatrix.

Justin, Melissa and Christina:-

A group of thieving children whom Azusa was previously with before he met his brothers, and before he became a vampire. They constantly bullied Azusa, and their abusiveness towards him was the cause of his masochistic mindset.

Even though Azusa knew that they had treated him horribly, he still considered them his 'family' since they had saved

him from dying on the streets. He was deeply saddened by their deaths after they were killed for attempting to rob an aristocrat. This also caused him to develop his self-harming habit, by slicing

himself and naming three prominent wounds on his arm to immortalize his bullies. rewrite it in a constructive manner

Lucks:- Lucks was the leader of a street gang that Yuma joined before he became a vampire and met his brothers. He taught Yuma how to survive by scavenging, stealing, or working hard. He also inspired Yuma with his dream of overthrowing the aristocrats and creating a world without social classes. Yuma was devastated when a coup de'tat wiped out Lucks and his gang, leaving him as the only survivor.
