Episode 15

Cally

I'm sitting in the dining room, having dinner alone again. Adrown traveled to do the pack inspections and give our monthly support to each one of them. It's the time of year when they hold charity events to raise funds for the NGOs that the packs have and help each other. It's been years since I've participated. Adrown always goes in my place and in my name. I'm lost in my thoughts when Cassandra arrives.

Cassandra: "What a quiet house, hahaha. It seems like nobody lives here, hahaha."

Cassandra Gusmao

Cally: "As if it was ever lively here, Cass."

Cassandra: "It was, but you closed yourself off from the world. I already told you what to do, but you don't listen to me."

Cassandra pulls up a chair, sits next to me, and serves herself. Over the years, Cassandra has become more than a friend, she has become my sister. She has seen me suffer all these years over the death of my husband and my daughter, and let's just say that she and Adrown have a thing, hahaha. Adrown never wanted to find his fated mate. He said that Cassandra was the woman of his dreams, and to this day they're still seeing each other, hahaha.

Cassandra: "Once again, you didn't go see the packs with Adrown. They're going to think that you are no longer in the position of Alpha Queen."

Cally: "You know that he organizes this much better than I do, right?"

Cassandra: "Even so, Cally, the people need to know that their Queen is here too, that you didn't wither after what happened. Years have passed, my friend. I'm sure Sebastian wouldn't want you to live like this, especially without being by your people's side."

I sigh heavily and lean back in my chair, wiping my mouth with a napkin.

Cally: "I know you're right, Cass, but I still don't know how to react outside the walls of this castle. But everything here seems haunted. I don't know what I feel. I don't want to leave, but I don't want to stay either."

I put my hands on my face and let the tears wash over my face. Cassandra reaches out and touches me.

Cassandra: "I already told you to try, Cally. Nothing will stop you. You don't have to be afraid. We'll be with you."

I look at her and give a weak smile. We finish eating and go to the living room.

Cassandra: "So, how are the dreams?"

Cassandra has been helping me by doing some spiritual cleansings and some remedies to help me sleep since, after what happened, everything has been strange for me.

Cally: "I've been dreaming frequently about the blonde-haired girl. Now I saw her wolf. It's white like Nanci."

Nanci is the name of my wolf.

Cassandra: "Do you think it could be your subconscious giving you a glimpse of who Sephora might be today?"

Cally: "I'm not going to lie, Cassandra. It seems very real. Sometimes it's like I can feel her, the smell. And I know it's Sephora."

Cassandra: "All right, let's see if I can see her this time."

Cassandra does some sessions as if they were regressions to try to access my dreams. This helps me to understand and move on. I sit in front of her. She touches my forehead with a finger and I close my eyes. Images of the girl come to mind, the dream I had with her most recently. A beautiful young woman, with blonde hair like mine, blue eyes, her skin white as cotton. She comes towards me and transforms. I observe her white wolf just like mine. She looks into my eyes and I see they are red like Sebastian's, and she bows to me. My heart races and I open my eyes.

Cally: "Did you see her?"

Cassandra: "Yes, but her face, as always, is blurry."

Cally: "Why can't you see her like I do?"

Cassandra gets up and goes to prepare the mixture of herbs she makes every night so I can sleep.

Cassandra: "I don't have that answer, Cally. I still think that because it is something from your conscience, it blocks me from seeing her as clearly as you do. It's like the energy that dominated Sebastian. I never found anything that led me to the source of that power."

Cally: "To this day, I don't understand who could do something so cruel to him. Sebastian was a good man, a good leader."

I look at the picture on the wall of Sebastian and my heart fills with pain. Cassandra approaches and hands me the cup with the liquid I need to drink every night. I take it in my hands and drink.

Cally: "Thank you for everything, Cass. You are very important to me."

Cassandra: "I know that, silly, hahaha."

Cally: "Cass, what's going on between you and my brother?"

Cassandra: "What?"

She asks me, startled, and I let out a laugh.

Cally: "Don't tell me there's nothing because I know there is."

Cassandra: "What makes you think there's something between me and Adrown?"

Cally: "The fact that he never wanted to find his fated mate, and the way you look at each other. I noticed it a long time ago, Cass. After you appeared in our lives, Adrown became a different person."

She gets nervous and starts organizing her things without looking at me.

Cassandra: "You're seeing things where there are none, Cally. You're getting old and seeing things. I'm going to prescribe some things for you to take for that too."

I grab her arm as she tries to get up and she looks at me.

Cally: "Don't let life steal him from you, like it did to me. If you love each other, you should live that love. Well, I'm going to sleep now. Good night, and thank you again."

Cassandra: "Good night, Cally."

I go upstairs and notice that Cassandra was left thoughtful. I change my clothes and lie down, and thanks to the medicine, I just fall asleep.

Again I dream of the girl. This time we are at a mating celebration. She looks beautiful in a white dress and I soon understand that it's her mating. Her mate seems very happy. She turns in my direction and comes towards me smiling. When she gets closer, she hugs me.

Girl: "I'm so glad you came, Mom."

My heart freezes in the moment. It's my daughter, my Sephora. I knew it. I step back and look into her eyes. My heart races and I cry.

Cally: "My baby girl."

Girl: "Now we are closer, Mom."

Her last words warm my heart and I wake up from the dream. The day has already dawned. I look around and realize the reality. My heart aches and I cry.

Cally: "My Goddess, I beg you, if my daughter is alive, help me find her."
