*Derek
I return from the hunt dazed, not understanding what just happened, and as if ignoring me, Petrus decided to remain silent. I go to Jorge and, through our mind link, ask for my clothes. I go to a secluded spot and return to normal. I put on my clothes and go back to the small stage, sit in my chair, and take a large gulp of whiskey to think more clearly.
Brendo - Is everything okay, Alpha?
Derek - Yeah, buddy, I'm just tired. It's been a long day.
I see from afar that Jorge is letting everyone know the wolves are starting to return from their hunts. They approach me respectfully to deliver their prey. I'm distracted when I see her approaching, the white she-wolf. She comes to me majestically and delivers the deer. Petrus gets agitated, and I smile. He's never been like this around anyone. She walks away and goes to her family, and when I look again, I almost have a fit. It's Jorge's sister! He goes to her, and I see that soon after, she walks away with Analia. I sigh heavily. What's going on? I continue to receive the offerings when Petrus howls in my head.
Derek - What's going on, Petrus?
Petrus - Go to her, she needs us.
Derek - What? Who?
Petrus - Just go, Derek.
He growls at me, and I get up. Petrus has never acted like this with me. He's nervous, worried. I head in the direction he indicates and hear cries of pain. I hurry and see Analia talking to the girl who is lying on the ground writhing in pain.
Petrus - Go, Derek.
I approach her and speak to her, pulling her close, trying to calm her down, and it works. She stops screaming and seems to no longer be in so much pain. Petrus wags his tail like a puppy. She opens her eyes and finally sees me.
Allya - Alpha.
She can only manage that, her voice hoarse. Petrus gets agitated and nervous.
Derek - Get a doctor, quickly.
Analia - I'll get my mother, Alpha, just a moment.
She steps away, and I hug the girl. Petrus wants to come closer to be with her.
Derek - Easy, boy, everything's fine. She'll be fine.
Mrs. Sulivan approaches and puts her hand on the girl's forehead.
Samia - What happened, Analia?
Analia - She was in a lot of pain. I tried to help, but she only calmed down when the Alpha arrived.
Derek - I wanted to help, Mrs. Sulivan, but I think she's weak from the transformation.
Samia - We need to get her out of here.
I look around and feel uneasy with the guys looking at her, and only then do I realize that she is still naked.
Derek - Bring me a sheet to cover her.
Analia brings one, and I cover her body with it, lifting her from the ground in my arms.
Derek - Mrs. Sulivan, I'm going to take you inside so you can examine her better.
I enter the pack house, and they follow me. I go up the stairs, wondering why Petrus is so worried about her. We enter my room, and I lay her on the bed. There are some guest rooms here, but I don't know why I brought her to mine. I leave her with her mother and sister and leave the room, saying they can call me if they need anything.
Derek - Look, boy, if it's just to have her as company during the haze, you better calm down. She's Jorge's sister; I would never do anything with her.
Petrus cowers and falls silent. I know he doesn't just want that. There's something else there, but I don't know what it is. I go back down to the ceremony area, congratulate everyone, and soon end the night. I tell Jorge and Brendo what happened, and they, along with Elder Gregory, go up to get some news. As soon as we enter the room, Jorge looks at me in confusion. I know he must be wondering why I brought her to my room, but at this point, even I don't know the answer.
Gregory - How is she?
Samia - She's fine, just exhausted from the transformation. You saw how dominant her wolf is; she almost seems like an...
Derek - Alpha.
I say it before Mrs. Sulivan can finish.
Jorge - Could it be possible? After all, we don't really know where Allya came from or who her real family is.
I look at them in confusion. What does he mean, "real" family? Aren't they her family?
Analia - We need to let her rest. This has all been very overwhelming for her.
Gregory - Let's take her home.
Samia - Thank you, Alpha Derek, for helping my girl.
Derek - No need to thank me, Mrs. Sulivan. If you need anything, I'm at your disposal.
Elder Gregory picks her up and leaves the room with her, followed by the others, but before Jorge leaves, I call out to him.
Derek - Jorge, why did you say "real family" about your sister?
Jorge - Ha, I'm sorry. I never told you. Allya is adopted. My father found her in the forest when she was a year old. He was on a hunt with your father, Alpha Taylor, and he found Allya wrapped in a blanket, crying her heart out.
I look at him curiously.
Derek - I didn't know that.
Jorge - Well, since then, my parents have raised Allya as their own, but she knows the truth. She knows she's not their biological daughter, but even so, she doesn't care.
Derek - And you never went looking for her family?
Jorge - My father and mother did. They went to some witches and elders, trying to find out where she came from, but they all say the same thing: that Allya's past, before she arrived here, doesn't exist. It's as if it were erased from her history. It's a big black blur.
Derek - Wow, how curious. How is that possible?
Jorge - Nobody knows. Anyway, Allya is my sister, and that's what matters. If you don't need me for anything else today, I need to go. The guys are already organizing and cleaning up downstairs.
Derek - All right, you can go. Get some rest, and let me know if anything happens with your sister.
He simply nods and leaves my room. I think about what Jorge said. I never knew this story. Now I'm curious. Who is Allya Sulivan, and why is my wolf so interested in her? I take a shower, put on some boxers and sweatpants, and lie down. As I close my eyes, I see the white she-wolf. I sigh heavily. What's happening to me?
