Hey guys, Derek Northwest here, current alpha of the northern pack. I'm 28 years old, been an alpha since I was 19 when my dad died in a car accident, leaving me, my mom, and my sister Ketilyn. Since then, I took on the responsibility of taking care of the pack and my family. I'm a respected guy among all the packs, not just here. One day I want to meet the Alpha Queen of the wolves. They say she had a daughter who ended up dying with the Alpha King. My grandfather was an elder, and he always told me that my mate was special, but I haven't found her yet, and I even think I won't. I've been through many ruts, and I'm never alone, obviously, an alpha needs to be accompanied to show strength, but I've never been seriously involved with anyone, nor felt anything related to the mate bond.
I have two best friends I've known since we were kids. We went through the moon ceremony together, and today they are my betas: Jorge and Brendo. Jorge is like me, a free spirit, doesn't get attached to anyone. Brendo is more of a homebody, always wanted to find his mate and he already did, haha. Jorge's sister, she's really beautiful. He also has another sister; I don't know her name yet. I'll see her today at the moon ceremony; she's participating in the ritual. Today, the pack house is complete madness, every moon ritual is always a lot of work. Jorge and Brendo are here helping me and all the others who work here. The clearing is being decorated, a small stage where I'll be with my betas has already been set up.
Brendo- "Go get ready, man. Everything's organized here."
Derek- "I'm going, I'm going. You guys are getting ready here, right? People are already arriving."
Jorge - "Yeah, my parents are coming with Analia and my sister."
Derek - "Alright, I'll be back then."
I walk into the house, and my mom is coming down the stairs with Ketilyn.
Penelope Northwest
Penelope - "My son, aren't you ready yet?"
Derek - "I was checking if everything was alright, Mom, I'm going to get ready now."
Ketilyn - "You're the star, little brother, you should already be ready, hahaha."
Ketilyn Northwest
Derek - "Shut up, Ket."
I go upstairs and get ready. I take a long shower, prepare for the hunt with the new wolves, I accompany them on their first hunt. I get dressed and look at myself in the mirror, tie my hair back, and stroke my beard.
Derek - "Presentable, haha."
I go down the stairs and Jorge tells me everyone is here.

We go outside where everything has been set up. The clearing is well lit, and everyone is chatting excitedly. I scan my eyes over everyone without paying attention to anyone in particular and head over to the spot where I'll watch everything.
Brendo- "The new members are waiting for your announcement."
Derek - "Great, a few more minutes and we'll begin."
I look up at the moon; it's not at its peak yet. I order some snacks and drinks for the guests, and a few come to talk to me.
Gregory - "Alpha, the party is beautiful as always, congratulations."
Derek- "Thank you, Elder Gregory. Your youngest daughter is participating in the ritual, isn't she?"
Gregory - "Yes, we are all excited for her transformation."
He greets me and leaves. I see Jorge is already chatting with some ladies. I sip my whiskey. I'm not in the mood to get with anyone tonight. I see some women looking at me and trying to flirt, but I look away. My mom is talking to some people, while Ketilyn, I don't even know if she's still here.
Jorge- "Shall we begin?"
I look at the moon, and it's in the ideal position to start the ritual. The music stops, and everyone looks in my direction. I get up and take the microphone.
Derek- "Good evening everyone. It is with great joy that we begin another Moon Ritual to welcome the wolves of the new members of the pack. Everyone knows that today is a very important day for these young men and women who will transform for the first time and meet their wolves. I want to thank everyone for being here, let's begin."
I look at the path of candles that has been made towards the clearing, and the young men and women begin to come forward. There are 30 in total, all wearing the robes we made for the ceremony. Once they arrive, they line up and face me.
Derek- "It is with great honor that I welcome you all. I hope that from today forward, each one of you can contribute to our pack and fight by my side for our people. May the Goddess bless you."
I hand the microphone to Brendo and sit down to observe everyone. The lights go out, leaving only the candlelight. The moon illuminates the clearing, and we already see the first signs of transformations. I watch everyone attentively until my eyes stop on a beautiful young woman in a blue dress and blonde hair. I see that she is feeling the first signs of her transformation. I feel something strange inside me, Petrus, my wolf, is restless, my head is pounding, and I don't know what's going on. I call Jorge and Brendo and ask them to check the radio to see if anything is happening around the village, but nothing. My vision goes back to her, my chest feels like it's going to explode, I try to calm Petrus, but it's no use. Some are already transformed. I take a deep breath and try to calm down.
Jorge- "What happened, man?"
Derek- "I don't know, Petrus is agitated."
And then we hear a loud howl that gets everyone's attention. I look towards the newly transformed wolves, and a white she-wolf catches my eye. Who is she? Without thinking, Petrus takes control and transforms, letting out a loud howl. My heart is racing, he's out of breath.
Derek - "What is it, boy?"
Petrus
Petrus- "Her."
He looks in the direction of the white she-wolf, who howls again, drawing everyone's attention. For the first time, I see Petrus lower his head to another wolf.
Derek- "What the hell is this, Petrus?"
He doesn't answer, but I see him preparing to enter the forest and follow the wolves on the hunt. Jorge takes the lead and starts the hunt since I was transformed.
