As panic threatened to overwhelm him, Haruto's gaze fell upon the necklaces that adorned each baby's neck, their delicate chains glinting faintly in the dim light of the corridor. With trembling hands, he reached out to inspect them, his fingers tracing the intricate characters etched into the metal with painstaking precision.

Akiko.

The names echoed in his mind like a distant refrain, sending shivers down his spine as he struggled to make sense of their significance. Who were these children, and why had they been entrusted to his care? It was a mystery beyond his comprehension, a puzzle with no clear solution in sight.
