Ep - 9. Get It

Sophia had trouble comprehending what Jimmy was trying to convey. What was happening? What was little Jimmy trying to say? What was his intention in telling his father that both his wife and child would go away others?

It was true that he was Vincent's son but she was neither married to Vincent nor was she Jimmy's mother. She felt that the situation was getting out of control, that she was being hoodwinked.

After hearing little Jimmy speak, Vincent Xiao muttered,

"I know."

"Now that you know, hurry up. We are waiting for you".

Jimmy hung up the phone after talking.

Shocked, Sophia stood motionless in the middle of the HS Business District.

Vincent, the CEO of the Xiao Group, sat in his office with a slight grin on his face, his eyes glinting with something other than his indifference.

His phone rang minutes ago. 'An unfamiliar number, 'he thought. He merely peeked at it and returned to analysing the bidding project that was the focus of his attention. It rang three times before Vincent decided to blacklist the contact. This was when he noticed that Daniel had messaged him on WeChat.

"Bro, take the call. Do you not remember Plan A? This is Sophia's number!"

Reading the messages, he rushed to answer the phone. Jimmy and Daniel had told him about Plan A before, but he thought it was improbable so he showed no interest in taking part. He did not think Sophia would actually take the bait. It seemed the boy played his role well.

As Vincent started his car for the drive to the HS Business District, Sophia and Jimmy encountered two people.

It was the high-end sector of Building B's first floor in the HS Business District. As Jimmy rubbed his belly, he ached,

"Mommy, I'm starving."

As the musk of perfume filled the air, Sophia let out a sneeze. As she lifted her head, two familiar faces were glaring back at her. One had short and charming hair, the other with long and alluring hair. They were Windy Zhang and Linda Ma, the self-proclaimed belles of Colorful Entertainment Company.

Like Sophia, they were also D-list actresses. However, they always liked to keep a high profile and dress up. They despised Sophia and she was no fan of theirs too.

"Sophia? Wow, we did not expect to see you here. What a coincidence!"

The short-haired Windy Zhang, flashed a snide smile. It was clearly written on her face that she wanted to torture Sophia and see her dejected.

Sophia disregarded her completely

Linda Ma continued,

"Sophia, we are friends. Why not talk to us?"

Holding Jimmy up, Sophia replied with an icy and vacant stare,

"Sorry, I... We were never friends."

Windy Zhang and Linda Ma's only goal was to embarrass and chastise Sophia. They took no notice of her words.

As she raised her designer Louis Vuitton handbag. Windy Zhang said

"Sophia, women always envy each other and covet what others have. We know what is going through your head. Any thoughts on my new bag? A gift from Mr. Zhang. It's the latest in the Louis Vuitton collection."

'What a moron.' Sophia rolled her eyes and did not acknowledge Windy Zhang or her comments.

"Windy, why are you taunting Sophia? You know the company has terminated her contract and no casting crew has asked for her since. Louis Vuitton and Dior are two brands that are simply out of her league."

Linda Ma shot a sarcastic glare at Windy Zhang.

Immediately, Windy Zhang covered her mouth, pretending to feign guilt.

"Oh my God, Sophia. I'm so sorry. I completely forgot that your life was miserable. We are sisters after all. You have to tell me if you run into any problems. All of us are D-list actresses. We need to keep in touch and help each other."

"Yeah, yeah. Sophia, honey call me if you run into any trouble."

Whilst bragging, Linda Ma took out a few hundred dollars bills and handed them to Sophia.

"Sophia, I only brought this much with me today. Consider it a loan. We are all in the entertainment industry. With your condition, I get it. Take it!"
