Demetria was deeply engrossed in her work, oblivious to the gentle knock on her door. Moments later, a resonant voice sought entry.
"May I come in?"
"Indeed, please do."
"The intricate details of your schedule have been meticulously organized."
"Proceed." She immersed herself back in her tasks.
"In precisely one hour, you have an appointment. Following that, a luncheon is scheduled with the foreign representative of the ongoing project. After a brief one-hour respite, a consequential meeting will convene. Concluding the day, a session with the esteemed board of directors awaits you. This, ma'am, means deviating from your customary departure time."
"Very well, minimize the intervening break."
"That's precisely the insight I intended to convey."
"What did you say?"
"Your well-being holds paramount importance for the company, ma'am."
"I fail to see why you persist in lecturing me on my health. It's my concern, after all. Moreover, your role does not entail scrutinizing my well-being."
"Yet, your health significantly influences the company's interests, ma'am."
"Regardless, the break schedule remains unaltered. My obligations at home dictate such priorities, and..."
Interrupting her words, Demetria stood up, positioning herself squarely before him, locking eyes in a penetrating gaze.
"And?" he inquired.
"Learn to extend respect when dealing with them. *Smirk* I doubt you'd relish a reputation of being dismissed on your inaugural day, wouldn't you?"
"*Smile* Yes, ma'am."
"In your debut, you've already left an indelible mark on your colleagues."
"*Eyebrow raise* Pardon?"
"They are already circulating opinions, deeming you stern and aloof. Bestow them a smile, won't you?"
"I find that beyond my capacity."
"Why so?"
"It's reserved exclusively for you. Furthermore, my handsomeness and loyalty might inadvertently captivate them."
"Are you insinuating something? May I inquire?"
Ambrose advanced, closing the distance, and whispered, "Decipher it as you perceive."
Demetria reciprocated by moving even closer, sharing a whispered retort, "Engage in games suited to your capabilities, baby boy. Follow my lead; observers are present."
Ambrose, wearing a smirk, adjusted his glasses, uttering a covert response that escaped the ears of all but him.
"Did you observe? Their proximity suggested an imminent embrace."
"Huh? What are you discussing?"
"Were you not privy through the glass? Truly, an extraordinary chemistry."
"Refrain from spouting baseless claims. If gossip surfaces, we will likely become the primary suspects. Our desks are strategically placed directly in front of Mam's cabin's glass window."
"Granted, but I ardently support their potential union. They exude a captivating synergy."
